I really love that you are looking at some of Kate’s more obscure offerings, and your enthusiasm for the Balkan element in this particular amazing song. I’m a longtime fan of KB; you can spend DECADES in her musical world and still uncover magical elements that you hadn’t previously noticed. Case in point, her album “The Dreaming” has become my current favourite after years of kinda ignoring it. “Pull out the Pin”, a song from the perspective of a Viet kong fighter; “Houdini”, a pain cry from the perspective of Houdini’s girlfriend, and all its other remarkable deep offerings. Do check the album out when you have the time, you’ll be AMAZED!!!
Damn! I can't believe you covered this song. I have loved Kate Bush and Trio Bulgarka since I first heard them in the 80s, and was blind struck when they recorded this song together. The full version is so amazing, and so are you (and your donor) for reaching outside of the box. The vocalization on this song just blows my mind. The melding of Western and Eastern chords b!owe my mind. It's just great. Thank you.
I feel exact the same ...get every time I hear it goosebumps allover ...and when David joins in, it is completely overwhelming ....and the last kick is, the solo of that bulgarian singer after kates " ...wasn't me said you where crazy ..." An unbelievable "art-fire-live-work"
Hey Saeed. You should definitely react to some more Kate Bush. She's completely unique (in my opinion). So many great tracks to get into. Unbelievable vocals, song writing, just pure talent. I hope you do. I'll be on the lookout. And I hope the Rush journey hasn't ended either 😉 🙏
Hey Benny! Definitely will check out more. Today one reaction to her song All The Love is coming to the channel. And definitely will react to more Rush as well.
I have never seen a reaction to this song. Huge Kate fan here--I think she exemplifies the artist's life so beautifully that I wrote an essay about it during the Stranger Things, Runnin' Up That Hill phenomena. Funny story from a fellow writer about this song: I always listen to music while composing prose, and although this song is what you might call distracting (ya think?), it slipped into a random playlist I had going while writing an action sequence from the POV of a female warrior... And it matched up perfectly. I will always think of this character and that scene when I hear this song (this was about 15 years ago now). So glad you did the Trio Bulgarka beforehand. Wonderful way to start my weekend. Cheers!
Thanks for sharing that story! I can only listen to music without words while writing, usually scores from cinema to get me into certain mood. Definitely exploring more of her music! A reaction to All The Love is coming today 😃 Have a great weekend!
I agree with you on what you said about this song being a bit distracting at first but not in a bad way. The Bulgarian vocals vs. Kate's lyrical vocals compete a bit for the first quarter of the song ! I read Kate filled the vocals in this song with some female Brit vocalists doing thier best Bulgarian style vocals ...holding vocal notes even so the Bulgarian melodic vocal was enhanced . You can hear that in the second half of the song. The main Bulgarian vocalist seems to be melodically weaving from beneath the multi tracked vocals ( which is a nice effect )
Yeah she's great. You should do the whole "Hounds of Love" album. Side 1 is pop, side 2 is a concept suite. You get a great piece of Kate on that album.
Wow amazing choice ❤ The album this came from changed my life for sure. Any song from Kates album The Sensual World is worth listening to. She sings a duet with Peter Gabriel called Dont Give Up you'd probably love
She also sang backing vocals on Peter Gabriel’s third solo album, which featured Phil Collins on drums. This album, The Sensual World, changed me too. It’s her best for me - so brilliantly creative and lush and mellow and evocative and organic. Any from this album - absolutely
The harmonic intervals are often the 2nds and 9ths in Bulgarian folk singing. The dissonance gives the impression that there are many more voices than three. Singers are often chosen for having an unusually shrill timbre.
Take the time to listen to The Ninth Wave, which is a concept piece comprising of seven songs making up the entire second half of Kate's Hounds Of Love album. This will cement her in your life forever.
I love that you don't start with the biggest songs. Hundreds of people are reacting to those already. It's so refreshing to see someone react to these deep cuts. Kate will blow your mind once you get to more of her songs!
Adding to the recommendation of other commenters that you listen to more Kate Bush. Think of it - who else can you think of who could sandwich themselves between Trio Bulgarka and David Gilmour, and still manage to make themselves heard? FYI, since Kate is British, and the first line is “That November night…,” this song is referring to fireworks being set off on Guy Fawkes Night, November 5th - as in “V for Vendetta” and “Remember, remember, the Fifth of November.”
In terms of recommendations, it really depends on whether you would like to start a particular point (e.g. at the beginning and then move forward to see how Kate developed as an artist). Or just dip in at random. Kate's extensive catalogue is of such high quality that you won't be disappointed. I don't know how familiar with Kate's background. Whien Kate became more popular in North America, I encountered many people who were reacting to her music for the first time and I found myself writing very similar comments again and again. So, in the end, I prepared some notes in advance on various Kate Bush areas, including some background information acting as introduction to her, which I include below. I hope that you find it to be of some interest. =========== A quick background summary of Kate Bush, Kate started writing songs at about 11 years old, adding more complex lyrics from 13 onwards. By her late teens she had written about two hundred,, the family made demo recordings of about fifty of them, in an attempt to attract the attention of record companies without any success. Until a friend of family passed the demos to David Gilmour (guitarist for Pink Floyd), he was interested and ultimately paid for time at a studio with session musicians to make professional master recordings of three songs from Kate extensive catalogue which he selected. It was those professional recordings that he passed onto EMI executives when he was asked about new talents - when EMI listened they wanted to sign Kate up immediately, but they had to wait until she had left school, Kate signed for EMI when she was 16 years old. EMI paid Kate a retainer which she used to improve her piano playing, voice lessons and also dance & mime lessons from Lindsay Kemp (who had also taught David Bowie to dance). Kate also fronted a pub band that one of her brothers had put together. Eventually EMI called Kate back to work on her debut album "The Kick Inside" although two songs were taken from the earlier professional recordings that David Gilmour had paid for - notably one of them was written when she was just 13 years old and David Gilmour thinks that was the song that convinced EMI to sign Kate.. Kate's debut single "Wuthering Heights" was released in January 1978 and it was so different to everything else in the singles chart and became a massive worldwide hit, reaching number 1 in a number of countries around the world and charting highly in others. When it got to number 1 in the UK, Kate became the first female artist to have a self written song reach number one, this was the 1st of numerous records and milestones that Kate has set in the UK single and album charts. "Wuthering Heights" was Kate's biggest worldwide chart until 2022, when the use of "Running Up That Hill" (RUTH) as a key part of series 4 of "Stranger Times" caused the song to become the most streamed song in the world, for a period of time. RUTH reached number 1 in even more countries worldwide, including becoming Kate's second UK number 1 single 37 years after it's original release, one of three UK single records that Kate set. It reached number 3 in the Billboard single chart. Although it did hit number 1 in some Billboard specialist US singles charts. When "The Kick Inside" was released later in 1978, it sold a million copies in the UK and reached number three in the UK album chart. Kate had at least one single that has reached at least number 12 (or better) in the UK singles chart during the following decades 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s Kate is multi-talented a singer/songwriter, musician, dancer, record producer, video producer and director. Kate was also very heavily involved in the staging of both of her concert tours - 1979 "Tour Of Life" and the 2014 (22-date) concert residency "Before The Dawn", tickets for every performance sold out in under 15 minutes. Kate has inspired/influenced countless numbers of artists/musicians who followed her, she is considered to be a musical icon and a pioneer. Kate was credited as a co-producer on her third album "Never For Ever" and was the sole producer on her fourth album "The Dreaming" and every one of her subsequent studio albums.
Yea , last time I went to Brescia , Italy in 2019 I spent $100 at the 1 Euro store there on ' fountain ' style fireworks for New Years eve . I'm partial to those ... I'm not a fan of the noisy ones or larger rockets ... Less chance of injury ... In the U.S. you can only legally buy fireworks from licensed sellers most often only seasonally around holidays ... So it was fun to find them at the 1 Euro store ! ~ and made for a good photo shoot excursion .
Great reaction thanks a lot, Dave Gilmour on Guitar on this Gem. Kate Bush also produces her Albums, shes so skilled for me shes the Goat. Hounds of love Album is a very good start.
❤ I am happy you enjoyed this wonderful piece by Kate. It really doesn't matter which one you will pick. No song of hers is like the other. From the same album: This Woman's Work (original video), The Sensual world (original video), Love And Anger (original video), The Fog (my favourite on this album besides Rocket's Tail, but no video....😢)
My recommendation for Kate Bush: her entire catalogue! This is a genius artist that has left musicians and fans bewildered for decades. She had written over 200 songs by the age of 16. She was signed by EMI in 1976 at 17 years old and they just handed her 100% of the creative control!! It is easy to lose track of how many 'firsts' there are in her career, and how many subsequent female artists were inspired and influenced by her throughout the 70s 80s 90s and beyond..
Every Kate Bush video is worth a reaction. Be sure to watch her official videos (even if it's on your own time); they are very much a part of Kate's vision. She's also directed most of the videos, so you know it's her vision, and not some soulless corporate jerk's idea of what the song is.
I really love that you are looking at some of Kate’s more obscure offerings, and your enthusiasm for the Balkan element in this particular amazing song.

Absolutely love her a other worldly goddess completely original and never bettered welcome to planet kate
I look forward to explore more of her music.
I LOVE that people are still discovering Kate Bush. She's been my favourite musical artist since about 1978! I've NEVER tired of her work.

I've been a Kate fan since 1979 (I was a teen), and she made me a fan of Trio Bulgarka. She's brilliant.

Brilliant and even extra good due to David Gilmour’s soaring guitar. The album is sensational ❤
A rare jewel behind the scenes clip from the recording session with Kate Bush and Trio Bulgarka

Kate is a complete and only one off. No one like her before and there will be no one like her ever again. Our English Rose.
Looking forward to more of her music!

THANK YOU so much

Wasnt a fan of the noisy one either. Although we did try some in the neighbourhood when we were kids. Cant say the people were very happy with that 😅
Great reaction thanks a lot, Dave Gilmour on Guitar on this Gem.
Kate Bush also produces her Albums, shes so skilled for me shes the Goat.
Hounds of love Album is a very good start.
Love the concept of this song. Looking forward to more. A reaction to All The Love is coming later today.

@@SaeedReacts. All the Love is from her Album the Dreaming. My fav Album of hers but its defenitly not easy listening. Its progressive
David Gilmour "discovered" Kate Bush back in the 70s.
Didnt know that. Cool! Thanks for sharing
Have always loved Kate Bush's uniquie style. Ever since Wuthering Heights, I was hooked. The Trio Bulgarka are new for me. Interesting 👍🏻👍🏻
Definitely checking out more of her stuff. Later today i have a reaction to All The Love coming.
@@SaeedReacts. Excellent 👌🏻👌🏻
@@SaeedReacts. Dave Gilmour first heard her at age 15. He produced "Man With The Child In His Eyes" which she wrote at 13 and recorded at 16.

Thanks for the recommendation!

I think it was Dave Gilmor that 'discovered' Kate Bush.
AURORA also uses keening-like techniques. I’ve loved the Bulgarian women’s voices since The seventies. Brilliant!
I love those type of techniques. Sounds so good and gives me this feeling i cant really put into words.
Thanks for watching.
Every Kate Bush video is worth a reaction. Be sure to watch her official videos (even if it's on your own time); they are very much a part of Kate's vision. She's also directed most of the videos, so you know it's her vision, and not some soulless corporate jerk's idea of what the song is.
