What album or song should I react to next? This was a lot of fun and WOW does Kate make some incredibly out of this world, cathartic music. I'm very open to any feedback for how I can improve these videos, and thanks for watching! Note: I had planned to put this on a new channel, but in the end decided it made more sense to upload to my music video channel (as the channel is already setup, and I don't make use of it often otherwise).
@@peterarvidsonmusic It'll have to be "The Dreaming" but brace yourself. Or switch to Jane Siberry "The Walking", Stina Nordenstam "And she closed her eyes", Toyah Wilcox "Prostitute" or Rebecka Törnqvist "Memo"."
The second side of the record, "The Ninth Wave", starts at "And Dream of Sheep" onward. It's the story of a person washed overboard during a storm, and their hallucinations as they try to survive in the water. Even with that background, it will probably take a few listens for it all to make some sense. My favorite record side ever.
Find the Tennyson quote that goes with the song cycle in the liner notes. Very ragnarok vibes and adds to the themes. (Separate idea, not a refutation or anything:) My personal interpretation was always that she falls asleep in the first song, dies in her dream and goes on a journey that ends when she returns with Arthur on the ninth wave at the end of the world, then wakes up in the last song with a new appreciation of her life and family , and while I know that’s not the official one it’s one I like. But I like this one too.
I recommend Kid A by Radiohead, Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, Grace by Jeff Buckley, Consolers of the Lonely by The Raconteurs, Together Alone by Crowded House, and Perpetual Motion People by Ezra Furman.
One of the best musical artist to have ever lived. Name any singer who has come since, they were inspired by Kate. One of the Greek Muses, in our time.
My God, your tears on hearing 'Hello Earth' really affected me. I'm 53 and I listened to the whole album on repeat on a holiday in Ireland (Bush is a Londoner of Irish heritage) when I was 16. Your eyes are so expressive. Amazing RUclips video. Thank you xx
The whole second side is complete genius and as for Hello Earth it is just one of the greatest tracks by any artist or band of all time. Kate Bush LEGEND and English Rose forever.
You lucked into a great album to take a look at first. I have a hard time not considering this album as one of the best ever. A great point in Kate's career in which she perfectly balanced her craving for experimentation with her unique/intuitive song writing ability. It's so good, it's almost inhuman.
About 3:30 in, “who produced this? I’ll look it up later” ME: omg no look it up right now because she produced it herself and I need you to know that 😂
Here in the UK Kate is a national treasure and one of our greatest musical artists ever in my humble opinion. Generally, I think her music is a bit out there and ecccentric for the US and that is probably why she was never huge there which is a shame. I would start with her albums in order to get a full picture of her development. I was fortunate to see her live in 2014 and she played most of Hounds Of Love and it was something I will remember til my dying days.
@@peterarvidsonmusic Yeah Peter, you're right: go back right from the start because "The Kick Inside"was a hell of a debut album! Then run through all her discography in chronological order because Kate Bush's evolution really is what makes her a very special artist. Except "Lionheart" which is "The Kick Inside" part 2, none of her albums is comparable to what she's been doing before. You said "Honds of Love" is the peak of her carreer... Just Listen to "The Dreaming", you'll be amazed in the same way for very different reasons... For many Kate Bush fans, "The Dreaming" is "the real deal" in Kate Bush's evolution.
This album was the first album I'd ever bought in 30+ years ago, it had given me an impression that songs could be made not only in styles of pop, rock, blues, jazz ...etc, but also in such an unique imaginative, creative and influential story telling art. Kate is a legend. Bravo Kate!!
I love the whole album but "Hello Earth" is the song that confirms for me that Kate is truly a musical genius - that song is staggeringly beautiful. Also, i'd highly recommend "The Dreaming" and "Never For Ever" as other Kate albums to check out. Both are brilliant, artsy and unique.
Loved to see you enjoy Hello Earth so much. I feel the same way whenever I hear it. Well, I suppose you already have the context of the Ninth wave. I recommend you hear it again with context. If you want to trip some more you can hear The dreaming and Never for Ever. I mean, really all of her stuff is out of this world, you can’t go wrong with her. What I recommend in her case at least is maybe reading some context on the songs perhaps after listening. All her songs have some deep, literary, cinematic meaning. She’s quite the story teller. Good luck with the channel!
The Dreaming has always been my personal favourite. I love all of her stuff, but that album is just sheer mad genius. I've always felt Night of the Swallow was hugely underrated. Nobody ever seems to talk about it, and hoo boy those celtic vibes give it an insane drive that is off the charts towards the end. I find it quite euphoric.
Great reaction video. Long time KB fan here so it's always fun to watch someone go in almost completely blind and watch them react. Your perspective as a musician informs the reaction, it was great!
Hello Earth is a masterpiece youre right. Absolutely love the journey it takes yiu on with the choir and orchestral pieces especially the cello parts. Gives me chills still to this day.
For a chilling message: breathing For heartbreak: this woman's work For a sonic experience: rockets tail For beautiful piano: under the ivy (hard to stop at just 4)
As you said - What a voice! (range of 4 octaves) - and what an imagination! Kate, always the story teller. And yes, Kate was the producer. Singer, songwriter, pianist, dancer, choreographer, director, producer. Kate has done it all.
What an excellent first reaction - thoughtful, articulate and engaging. And your little KB impersonations made me lol. Not at all surprised Hello Earth took you that way, though. What an epic!
I didn't know he had passed away. Very sad. There's a really great documentary from the BBC in which he features quite heavily. Elton John also speaks about her being an enigma and how, when she accepted an invite to Elon and David's wdding how so many people just wanted to see her.
I have always said that Hounds of Love is the best album the 80's, but The Dreaming is the best Kate Bush album of the 80's. The Dreaming is the album previous to Hounds of Love, and was not well received. However, after many hundreds of listens over the last forty years, in my opinion, The Dreaming is the better album. That said, all of albums are good.
@@peterarvidsonmusicits definitely her most experimental album So theatrical, a lot of lyrical content, amazing weird production Its my favourite as well but kate bush doesn't have a bad album
I don't know about "even better" as Kate Bush's discography is almost faultless ("The Sensual World" and "The Red Shoes" on the whole are arguably "inferior, but still very good...), but I also think "50WFS" was a real good surprise when it was released allthough many people didn't get it and the album I was waiting from Kate Bush for ever for those fantastic piano/voice pieces. Just love it! "Lake Tahoe", for me, is her best song ever.
Where most artist would think: Shall i scream or use that soundeffect..or make a donkey noise? Most wouldnt...Kate does...it helps you to fully engage in the story she wants to tell..visualize it,like a painting coming alive! I love her to bits, she takes me to places i didn't know existed in my heart and mind!❤
Awesome review mate. Kate is simply one of those special ones that lead the way without even trying. She’s been an inspiration, template and muse for countless artists. Keep up the great work, if you are genuine, honest and open you will have an audience 👍🏽
Great reaction! You have such a journey ahead of you with Kate! I love all the albums but standouts for me after Housnds of Love are The Sensual World, and Aerial.
It's so much fun watching people listen to Kate for the first time! *oh,what's that?* *is that a plane?* *what the hell?* *oh,wasn't expecting this* So glad you enjoyed it!!😘
I wish I could hear this album again for the first time as an adult. I was there Gandalf 3000 years ago when this was first released. I can remember my first time actually hearing her. I was eight years old and I was staying up late and watching Saturday Night Live. The special musical guest as a very young, 18-year-old Kate Bush, singing The Man with the Child In His Eyes. I was enraptured, but at eight, I had no idea who she was. It wasn't until seven years later when I heard Running Up That Hill on MTV and saw the alternate music video that it hit me, here was that musical goddess I heard so many years ago. Been a huge fan ever since.
I became her fan since 1986. Hounds Of Love was the first Kate Bush's album i ever bought and i got hooked to it till now. I'm 52 now and still spinning the album without feeling bored.
This reaction was so awesome! And I'm so glad it still reach new people out there, because it's a true masterpiece. This album was my first real introduction to her music, back in 1985/1986. Before that I'd heard my dad and uncle play tunes from "The Kick Inside", but then dad bought "Hounds of Love", on cassette, and played "Running up that hill" in the car, which I loved. So I borrowed the tape, took it with me to my room to listen, pushed play and randomly was thrown straight into the middle of "Waking the witch". It scared the shit out of me... So much that I had to stop the tape, just to breath. It was like listening to an exorcism or something. But I knew this was something else, than all the other stuff we heard on MTV, so I rewinded and began at the start. And this album is still my favourite. I am SO glad I grew up with Kate Bush, as a young teen. It basically changed my life. And I thought I was gonna faint when I got tickets to her live show in 2014 and got to hear and see her perform the whole "Ninth Wave".... LIVE! That was truly a once in a life time experience. Kate Bush is timeless.
@@peterarvidsonmusic Good idea. It's fascinating to see how she developed over the years. It was released when she was 19 and along with "Lionheart" (released in the same year), the only album where she didn't take on production duties. The track "Man With The Child In His Eyes" was written at age 13 and co produced by David Gilmour when she was 16.
The Ninth Wave is everything. In old money … the second side of the album. In new money, from ‚And Dream of Sheep‘. AND she definitely inspired Björk … and so many other cool artists.
Peter Arvidson, firstly well done on tackling this album so early in your channel, it is not the easiest to review, so big ups for that. I have seen a fair few RUclips reactions to this album and I have to say yours is up there with the best, a very open, accessible listen and your reactions and comments were well thought out and honest. I particularly appreciated your reaction to 'Hello Earth' as that is exactly how I felt when I first heard it, it literally floored me in it's magnificence and to this day, it still does. I was a little surprised that 'Under Ice' was completely missed as that is a wonderful song. For me, the standouts on this album are 'Mother Stands For Comfort' a somewhat overlooked song really, I have no clue why, 'And Dream of Sheep' and of course 'Hello Earth'. As others in the comments have and will tell you, the second side to this album, starting with 'And Dream Of Sheep' is a concept called 'The Ninth Wave' and concerns a women lost at sea, trying to survive in the waters at night. I am sure you will find all this out on your own in due course. Oh and I subscribed, so thank you
Thank you so much for this feedback! It means the world to hear. Excited for the 9th wave, and her other work. And ah shoot, I missed a track? I would have listened to it but in editing I was trying to cut down to just the highlights of parts of the album I liked the most. I appreciate the sub too, your comment made my day!
The fretless (upright) bass is played by the German jazz virtuoso, Eberhard Weber. Kate has a history of using some great guest musicians on her albums and Weber is no exception. This is a great album, to many her masterpiece, though I think she has an incredible discography - she is a true artist who does her own thing. I think the predecessor, The Dreaming, which is almost a proto-Hounds of Love, would be a good listen. Her sound develops significantly, especially with her later albums, as the gaps between them grow. For instance, following The Red Shoes in 1993, there was a 12-year hiatus leading to Aerial; 6 years to the next album.
The male voice choir in Hello Earth is singing a traditional folkloristic Georgian (the country) song called ''Tsintskaro'' performed by the Richard Hickox Singers. Look it up on RUclips for an original Georgian version. The song was also used in the German Dracula movie ''Nosferatu the vampyre''.
I love seeing ur reaction to jig of life - it almost feels like a religious experience. Ahhh, If only I could listen to it again for the first time :) I am also obssessed with the basslines in her songs - theyre so creative
The Ninth Wave is so, so good (words words words cannot do it justice). Del Palmer's bass playing for Kate is *outstanding*, n'est-ce pas? As you enjoyed the bass here, I would point you to Mick Karn's playing, particulary with the band Japan (Tin Drum and Gentlemen Take Polaroids LP's especially and the live Oil on Canvas, where one can watch him move in his inhuman ways while playing - which is a special treat)
This album came about when she was introduced to the newly invented Fairlight - which enabled the samples of planes, helicopters etc. to be incorporated in the songs. She went back to her house built a studio and over the next two years this masterpiece was the result.
Kate did another concept B-side on a layer album. I hope when you get to it that you share it with us here. I wish i could go back and hete ut for the first time again. You have much to look forward to.
She performed a similar effect with her album Aerial - first album features a Coral Room which is one of my all time faves of hers, second album is a concept taking us through a day with a heavy influence of birdsong - genius.
Thank You. Kate is my all time favourite artist. So you have to check out all her albums. Every one is just stunning. Another artist worth checking out is Toyah. Her album 'Anthem' is so good, and sounds just as good today as it did when it came out. Cheers. Enjoy your earworms.....
Toyah Willcox is not as constant as Kate Bush in terms of quality and genius but I think "Sheep Farming in Barnet" was a very promissing debut album and "Prostitute" the nearest to what I was expecting from her after that. "Anthem"'s sound was technically fantastic. I love "Pop Star" and "The elocution lesson".
There is a music video version of this album, called "The Hair of the Hound". It contains four songs: "The Hounds of Love", "The Big Sky", "Running up that Hill" and "Cloudbusting".I bought it in London in 1986. If you love this, you'll definitely love the music videos. They're amazing. "Cloudbusting" and "Running up that Hill" in particular.
For me - This album, The Dreaming and The Sensual World are her masterpieces. Having said that, every album is touched with genius … and A Coral Room (Ariels) is beautiful.
I wasw fortunate enough to see one of her live shows in 2014 and the section where she played the whole of the Ninth Wave was truly mesmerising. You coud tell that she had planned for years how it would be, how it would look and sound. A true genius.
I don’t think that Kate is a hermit/recluse. The music press has certainly described her as one. Even in the short gap between "The Dreaming" and the "Hounds Of Love" there were various rubbish stories appearing in the UK press, in 1985 I think "Record Mirror" had a front page headline "Where is Kate Bush?" literally days later, she appeared on a BBC1 chat show Wogan to perform "Running Up That Hill. " In the years between "The Red Shoes" and Aerial, she gave birth and brought up her son. As for being retired from music, you get occasional stories appearing that she's involved in a collaboration with people, and let's face it, the announcement of Kate's 2014 concert residency "Before The Dawn" came out of the blue, so you can never be sure that she has retired as such. As for where to go next, I wouldn't listen to "The Dreaming" next, it makes more sense since you're unfamiliar with Kate Bush to start at the beginning with her 1978 debut album "The Kick Inside" and then continue from there, so you get a feel for how she developed as an artist. Kate's discography is of such high quality, I'm sure that you will have an enjoyable journey!
Welcome to "Kate's world" Peter. Now that some have made you aware that the second side of Hounds of Love , "The Ninth Wave", each song tells the story of a woman that has been lost at sea due to a shipwreck, as she "fades in and out of reality" these thoughts come to her as she is slowly "fading". "Hello Earth" is also my favorite, everyone interprets it a bit differently, but my interpretation is that she is at this point> "fading fast" and her soul rises (temporarily) "way above earth" and she is becoming "one with the Universe", as she is looking down at Earth, seeing "the storms". The last song "Morning fog" she survives and is rescued, so she sings "I kiss the ground, I tell my mother, I tell my father, etc..etc.."How much I love them". Now you can listen to "The Ninth Wave" second side of the album a few more times with "a newer understanding" of "what's happening". Might I suggest you react to the song and video of Kate's "Moments of Pleasure," it is also very very interesting, I'm sure you will agree, once you hear it and see the video..
This album is good and so affecting for those of an artistic bent. I did an oil painting based on the imagery in the song And Dream of Sheep. The only other occasion I have done this was with David Bowie's The Bewlay Brothers. Great reaction.
Nice reaction - most of what needs to be said has been said in the comments already. But I DO hope you have gone back and listened again, now that you know it is an album of two halves. The mostly “big sound” pop inspired tracks of the Hounds of Love - and then you get The Ninth Wave. Kate’s masterpiece - the concept piece tracking the (often internal) journey of a woman shipwrecked at sea. Once you understand the tracks tell a single story it all falls into place. Truly Awesome.
Looking forward to more music reactions, Hounds Of Love is my third fave album of all time after Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd then Quadrophenia by The Who. Love your reaction to Hello Earth - I feel it too.
My favorite Kate Bush album is always the one I am listening to at that moment. Rating her work could never do justice to this most important of artists. I'd love to hear your reaction to Scott Walker Nite Flights or any album by Joni Mitchell
"Who is the producer?" lol, the lady herself. You should check out all her 80s albums at least. Doesn't matter which one you pick next, they are all excellent-self-written, self-produced, brilliant.
The Big Sky is my favorite KB song... and my favorite breakup song. "What was the question? I was looking at the big sky!" And ftr, Pink Floyd vibes at the end of Waking the Witch? Well, it is the helicopter from The Wall, with David Gilmour vocal.
She's the producer! Writer, singer, producer, everything :) and i don't understand why people don't want you to stop the music to comment? If they want to hear the entire song with no comments then listen to the song 😂😂😂 and if you want to hear a reaction watch a reaction. :)
Hi and thanks for a really enjoyable reaction video to an all time great album. My own view of Hounds of Love is that it is perfect, flawless, timeless, an all time great album made by an all time great songwriter and producer who also possesses one of the all time great voices... but it only comes in at No' 3 on my personal Kate Bush favourite album list (her music is that good). As to what to do next, well speaking personally I do think that you made a good choice to begin with HoL - it is deserving of all of the praise it has received through the years. And I guess from here, the there are three possible logical steps to take. Either take on step back to the extraordinary "The Dreaming" 1982 (but be warned it is a very wild ride - it is an extraordinary, landmark album beloved by people all the way from Bjork to Joe Elliott of Def Leppard and many others - but it is challenging and not everyone is able to attune themselves to its layering and aggressive attack). Another possibility is to take one step forward to "The Sensual World" some of which is truly beautiful (and for me personally is her finest collection of songs). or you could just go back to the very beginning and "The Kick Inside" where you meet the behemoth that is "Wuthering heights," "The Man With The Child In His Eyes" the song she wrote when she was 13, "Feel it" one of the best ever sex songs, or the excruciatingly plaintive and beautiful title track - a song about incest, pregnancy and suicide written in the form of a suicide note from a sister to her brother and the finals words she sings on the album are "By the time you read this." But I would just say - go in whatever direction you want. The music of Kate Bush is astonishing, sometimes very challenging, often weird, unsettling, even downright creepy - but it is astonishing. If I were to give on piece of advice to someone coming new to her music it is that while coming completely blind to the Kate Bush discography is commendable, I do think that you are better served personally by using the advantages that you have over some like me who was there from the beginning and didn't have all of her interviews, comments, and explanations of her songs to draw upon. If you keep a close eye on the often very informative online "Kate Bush Encyclopaedia" website it is likely to enhance your own experience of her songs. There is an example of this in your reaction to "And Dream of Sheep." The lyrics that your format displayed read as 'take me for a boy.' That isn't what she sings, she sings 'take me for a buoy' (she uses the English pronunciation). And the idea is that as she bobs up and down on the waved, lost at sea, with only her life jacket and its little light to help her survive, she expresses the hope that if she is riding white horses (rising and falling on the white crests of the waves on the sea) then any potential rescuer trying to save her won't mistake her for a buoy, but will see her and lift her from those waves. As a very old man who has been a Kate Bush fan from day 1 I think it is great when a newer generation discover this music. I hope you enjoy your journey. Thanks again
As another Kate Bush fan from the very beginning, I totally agree with your words about "The Dreaming" it is a very challenging album, so I always suggest that anyone who's new to Kate, shoild work their way towards to, by listening to other albums first before attempting "The Dreaming" too soon.
I think you're right, this was her peak. However my favourite KB album is Never for Ever. Having said that, I love all her stuff. I recommend you go back and listen to everything.
Give yourself an equally epic sonic/intellectual gift and give the same track by track treatment of Kate Bush’s extraordinary album “The Dreaming”- songs from the perspective of Houdini’s girlfriend, or a Viet Kong soldier are just some of the succulence you have awaiting you. It is a masterpiece very much of the same order as HOL, only even more batshit beautiful crazy!!!
I'd love to see you follow this up with her Sensual World album. This was delightful. Please go back and absorb The Ninth Wave tracks (side two of Hounds of Love) is all a single story in song cycle form and its such a genius masterpiece. Liked and shared.
I've lived with this masterpiece album since it was released in 1985, and it's so nice to see new listeners 'get it' in the best possible way. That's a subscribe from me. p.s. as someone else already mentioned, the second half of the album from 'And Dream of Sheep' is a single story, and knowing that really helps to understand what the hell is going on, musically and lyrically. The Dreaming next? Or Sensual World?
Sure its been said but this album has been curated to be listened to on vinyl in one go ,more of the fretless bass sound can be found with a band called japan, ghosts being one of thier biggest songs
I'm excited for you - and admittedly jealous - to delight your body and mind. Dig in and enjoy it all. suggestion for the future - Cocteau Twins, Blue Bell Knoll. Thanks for you what you do!
The second side The Ninth Wave is the concept side and tells the story of a woman lost at sea. You need to understand that in the mid section Waking The Witch for example you are in her subconscious as she drifts between life and death. She has influenced Bjork and Tori Amos and many others she is considered the original art pop innovator.
Seriously fantastic album and great review. Brave to go in blind - without knowledge of The Ninth Wave. And still enjoy it. It’s a special album for sure. I highly recommend her album The Sensual World as well. But really all her stuff is lovely. Look forward to more reactions. Someone no reactors seem to review is Laurie Anderson. She’s a storyteller, visual and performance artist and musician. Spoke sung and futuristic. Eerily so. You should try Big Science, and if you like that you might enjoy a lot of her stuff. Given your enjoyment of TNW, I think you’d find something even more out there interesting.
Have you got a birthday coming up ? Please wish a decent pair of over-ear headphones, for yourself, so you can get the full aural splendour of Kate Bushs' incredible music.😊
I wouldn’t bother with rating, but definitely listen to The Dreaming and The Sensual World. They bookend Hounds of love, all three are the high points of Kate’s output. I’d recommend Doing some of Bowie’s 70s output too!
Great reaction. You shoud listen to the 2014 live version of "The Ninth Wave" ("Hounds of Love" second side on vinyl) on her live album "Before the Dawn". Very interesting to compare. Such a shame she never released a dvd or bluray for this show as what she achieved visually for "The Ninth Wave" and "A Sky of Honey" was just stunning!
I really recommend you check out the video for Cloudbusting, which features Donald Sutherland as Kate's father. The story in the song is incredibly enough based on a true story.
"Hello, Earth" has always sounded to me like it's inspired directly by "2001: A Space Odyssey." The choir that comes in toward the end sounds like the choral sounds used in parts of that movie, and obviously the concept of being a reborn innocent 'star child' who is looking down on the planet from above is the last shot of the movie, representing a kind of transfiguration or enlightenment. It fits within the theme of her album but it also feels like it has direct allusions to 2001. A lot of Kate's songs are inspired by other works of art. "Wuthering Heights" was inspired by a TV movie of the novel that she saw when she was young. Cloudbusting is based on the memoir "A Book of Dreams." "The Infant Kiss" is inspired by a 1961 movie called "The Innocents." ...and on and on...
What album or song should I react to next? This was a lot of fun and WOW does Kate make some incredibly out of this world, cathartic music.
I'm very open to any feedback for how I can improve these videos, and thanks for watching!

Both are brilliant, artsy and unique.
start with her first album and watch her grow with each new one, she is out there on her own. she is what she is.
Hello Earth is the most epic track on the album for me I think. I'll have to read up more! Thanks for the insightful comment and well wishes!
Hello Earth is indeed a masterpiece - it’s my favourite track on this album which is my favourite album ever. Kate is amazing.
Night of the Swallow is my favorite Kate Bush song. That song is staggering.
Do you have a twin?
Great reaction video. Long time KB fan here so it's always fun to watch someone go in almost completely blind and watch them react. Your perspective as a musician informs the reaction, it was great!
Hello Earth is a masterpiece youre right. Absolutely love the journey it takes yiu on with the choir and orchestral pieces especially the cello parts. Gives me chills still to this day.
For a chilling message: breathing
For heartbreak: this woman's work
For a sonic experience: rockets tail
For beautiful piano: under the ivy (hard to stop at just 4)
Excellent comment!
@DanielDiaz-um1xd For Kate's wacky sense of humour "There Goes A Tenner".
That might be my favorite of hers next to Wuthering Heights! Thanks so much for your kind feedback.
The Knife mentioneddd! s2 great vid
Kate Bush, Prince, David Bowie, and the Cocteau Twins made my teenage years bearable.
Brilliant review, loved every minute. Still has the same emotional effect that it did with me nearly 40 years ago. Thank you.
RIP Del Palmer
Oooo I'll check The Dreaming out! Thanks for the recommend.
@@peterarvidsonmusicits definitely her most experimental album
So theatrical, a lot of lyrical content, amazing weird production
Its my favourite as well but kate bush doesn't have a bad album
Her name is Kate Bush and she dances under the ivy.
Her album „50 words for snow“ is even better. Kate Bush really is the priestess of art pop 😍💗
Thank you, and absolutely 100%, that is the focus here, not viral growth of anything, just enjoying some music together. 🥰
Many will say she was the greatest. And she still might not be finished.
I can't wait to hear what else she does, some of her later stuff seems amazing too!
Great reaction! You have such a journey ahead of you with Kate! I love all the albums but standouts for me after Housnds of Love are The Sensual World, and Aerial.
Ahh can't wait! Thanks!!
Thanks for the fantastic comment, reallty cool. I feel very grateful to be able to hear her for the first time!
hello, earth is a masterpiece! I do own the original CD :-) this album is fantastic! thx for your reaction!
I became her fan since 1986. Hounds Of Love was the first Kate Bush's album i ever bought and i got hooked to it till now. I'm 52 now and still spinning the album without feeling bored.
Hello earth and dream of sheeps still make me cry, after all dose years .
Im fan when I was 5 now this month im 52
Aww thanks for this comment, and loved reading about your experiences and stories here. Can't wait to share more with you!
Your emotions are exactly what I went through about a year ago when I got this album. Thank you for doing this
Please please please do more full Kate Bush album reactions, go in blind and start from the beginning! Start with The Kick Inside!
That's my next one I'm thinking! Thanks for stopping by 🎉
@@peterarvidsonmusic Good idea. It's fascinating to see how she developed over the years. It was released when she was 19 and along with "Lionheart" (released in the same year), the only album where she didn't take on production duties. The track "Man With The Child In His Eyes" was written at age 13 and co produced by David Gilmour when she was 16.
Yesss, imagine you can listen to l'Amour looks something like you or James and the cold gun fpr the first time again!
The Red Shoes is another deeply emotional personal Kate Bush album.
Listen to the song This Woman's work. Breaks me down every time.
This womens work always brings the tears, such a strong video and voice.
Oh wow! Thanks for this.
Thank You. Kate is my all time favourite artist. So you have to check out all her albums. Every one is just stunning. Another artist worth checking out is Toyah. Her album 'Anthem' is so good, and sounds just as good today as it did when it came out. Cheers. Enjoy your earworms.....
Toyah is certainly worth listening to...
Thank you! I am spoiled for all the earworms I get to catch up on.
Ahhh I'll check it out, thanks!
For me - This album, The Dreaming and The Sensual World are her masterpieces. Having said that, every album is touched with genius … and A Coral Room (Ariels) is beautiful.
I agree: "A Coral Room" with "Mrs Bartolozzi" surely are two of her best songs. Amazing lyrics and great music!
I always got chills from that screaming in "Big Sky" I played the hell out of this album and "The Dreaming" it is just as good if not better.
Yeah really, just WOW. The Dreaming is on my list!
In the years between "The Red Shoes" and Aerial, she gave birth and brought up her son.
Thank you! I appreciate this info and your time!
HOL was my intro to kate back in 1985 and from there I went to the Dreaming and then backwards into the rest of her catalogue.
Well, I know what I'm listening to tonight. Thanks buddy. My strange rabbit hole has been minnie riperton lately. Her voice was insanely good.
Must check Minnie out. Keep meaning to. Only know loving you, classic and shows her amazing voice.
@@tonyburt8863 I also had no clue that she is Maya Rudolphs mother. But yeah her voice is incredible
@@cho-v4n Les Fleurs is one of my most favourite songs ever.
Oooo I've never heard of Minnie before, thanks for the recommend! Glad to be of service here. Happy listening!
@@cho-v4n Oh wow!
I think you should start at her first album and follow the sequence of her releases.
Kate’s masterpiece.
Looking forward to more music reactions, Hounds Of Love is my third fave album of all time after Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd then Quadrophenia by The Who. Love your reaction to Hello Earth - I feel it too.
Ooo thanks, i'll check these out! Dark Side is one i've heard many times, but we could have an appreciation hour about it.
My fave Kate and next Floor and fave band Nightwish!? Subscribed!
I was waiting for your reaction to 'Waking the Witch' 😅
Ratings mean jack. Music is a far more in depth journey than a sum-up digit.
You just solved my dilemma, haha. Very well said!
a wonderful reaction to a timeless & essential album
I appreciate you! Thanks for that.
My favorite Kate Bush album is always the one I am listening to at that moment.
Rating her work could never do justice to this most important of artists.
I'd love to hear your reaction to Scott Walker Nite Flights or any album by Joni Mitchell
Bjork is one of the worlds biggest Kate Bush fans.
You have the BEST speaking voice
Hounds of love is the first half of this album. ; )
I need to listen to the second 😆
Clearly a musical genius to rival any composer of any era. I’ve had this album on my playlist for many years.
I got to see Before the Dawn in 2014 and it blew my mind. Tickets were going at crazy prices.
"Who is the producer?"
lol, the lady herself.
You should check out all her 80s albums at least. Doesn't matter which one you pick next, they are all excellent-self-written, self-produced, brilliant.
@@mistraldespair ok that is incredible! This has been such a fun rabbit hole to go down. I really appreciate your comment. Thanks for watching!
Lovely reaction Mister. I think you will enjoy her other albums. Dreaming, Aerial, Sensual World. ❤❤❤❤
@@Peter-gr2kl Ooo can't wait! Thanks other Peter!!
@@peterarvidsonmusic Yeah, she's a perfectionist genius in the Prince mode. Her skills in production are matched by her songwriting and performing.
The Big Sky is my favorite KB song... and my favorite breakup song. "What was the question? I was looking at the big sky!"
And ftr, Pink Floyd vibes at the end of Waking the Witch? Well, it is the helicopter from The Wall, with David Gilmour vocal.
Two essential videos: The Sensual World and Don’t Give Up, her duet with Peter Gabriel.
She's the producer! Writer, singer, producer, everything :) and i don't understand why people don't want you to stop the music to comment? If they want to hear the entire song with no comments then listen to the song 😂😂😂 and if you want to hear a reaction watch a reaction. :)
Aw I appreciate that! Comment of the week haha.
Your gnomes are awesome i have a few too 😂❤
Hi and thanks for a really enjoyable reaction video to an all time great album.
Another possibility is to take one step forward to "The Sensual World" some of which is truly beautiful (and for me personally is her finest collection of songs). or you could just go back to the very beginning and "The Kick Inside" where you meet the behemoth that is "Wuthering heights," "The Man With The Child In His Eyes" the song she wrote when she was 13, "Feel it" one of the best ever sex songs, or the excruciatingly plaintive and beautiful title track - a song about incest, pregnancy and suicide written in the form of a suicide note from a sister to her brother and the finals words she sings on the album are "By the time you read this."
But I would just say - go in whatever direction you want.
Aw dang. I appreciate that! On my list officially.
I haven't listened to them before! On my list officially! Hope to let you vicariously re-discover this music through my ears!
Can't wait to check out! Thanks
In 2014 I saw Kate perform all this album live apart from two songs. Just sayin' :)
Great album to start with !!
Thanks for the recommends and kind words!
Have you got a birthday coming up ? Please wish a decent pair of over-ear headphones, for yourself, so you can get the full aural splendour of Kate Bushs' incredible music.😊
Kate 💖
Oh dang yeah the 2014 residency shows right? I'll check it out! Thanks!
Cloudbusting is based on the memoir "A Book of Dreams."
"The Infant Kiss" is inspired by a 1961 movie called "The Innocents."
...and on and on...
SO good! Thanks for your comment.
