Maybe they wouldn't even bother us, being self sufficient and able to live off of different resources, possibly developing a symbiotic relationship with us as trade partners. We might even sort of "domesticate" them in a way, helping to support and control their communities from the outside while gleaning from their abundant food supply in exchange like beekeepers.
