    NIce to be here early, going to japan in March for the 3rd time and you inspired to start a youtube channel (not this one, I'm not promoting it LOL) just wanted to say thank you for sharing your content, it's making a difference.
    I'm fairly close to losing my job soon. Used to be a high performer in corporate america. Now i'm burnt out and useless in a corporate setting. So going to give my dreams a try. cheers mate.

      hey! wow this comment. hope you're ok. I understand burn out I juggled jobs, ups and downs, tbh creatively is always a wild rollercoaster but I wouldn't have it any other way. That feeling where dissatisfaction grows but you gotta keep performing is really exhausting. It can happen when you follow your dreams too and for me it happened in 2020 - I had made indie films but couldn't celebrate my success because of the lockdowns...I hit my goal, all that work but no travel stuck in a box... but it really dawned on me was how much I loved making them, and that everything else in life is secondary - that led me to find a way to make them sustainably and whenever i want, like a poet, or a painter your canvas can be RUclips. its not that the last years were a waste, if anything they trained me up to make films - taught me what I want to make and now I shoot fast, light and quick I'd not have known that without years of trying. every door opens from that first step. whatever your dreams are your previous experiences can help guide you on that path. thanks so much for the comment, made my day. typing this while I take a double shot coffee on a Sunday morning attempting to use my time off work to finally start editing again :)

    your style of vlogging is the kind of feeling, I've tried to capture and share since I was in my early 20s over 10 years ago- now im 32.... I have so many cameras and lenses and I've been playing with my cameras all this time, but yet, I never had the courage to go out, just film, and piece together anything that actually shares the way I see the world. and I don't know why I just dont do it. since you started this channel I've been so awed at the kind of vision and storytelling you have. I also recently purchased an osmo pocket 3 when it first came out thinking "this camera is the one that will get me to do it" but even that camera however amazing I end up leaving it at home. deep down and being honest I know that it's me I'm struggling with. I just wish I knew how to break out of it. I feel like I've wasted so much of "- what I could of done" .

      Hello and thank you for the comment! I hope my channel is inspiring in some way. Glad to have had a comment like this, I pour my emotions into these vlogs and sometimes wonder if someone out there gets it... it's comforting to know. I don't think you've wasted time if you've acquired camera's, learnt the skills all that. What's great is you've got the camera's, you can start whenever you're ready. Filmmaking is hard and I'm typing this while I too have not gone out to film in a while. It's been weeks of sunny days and I feel like I've wasted the good lighting but the thing is that's also part of the journey. I was stressed, I also had to juggle my 'adult' life, responsibility all that. These Japan episodes are what I filmed on the trip - but I took my time to edit them (im behind schedule by a lot actually) - it's normal for creatives to feel they've wasted time. I'm not sure if you've seen the film vanilla sky (some dislike the film) but despite that it's one of my favourites and that quote - "every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around" always sticks out to me. Whatever you're going through I hope you can put those feelings to film! Take care.

      thanks so much. I wanted to do a vlog which feels more like some of those great indie films, the ones that give a feeling but don't always wrap everything up in a nice neat bow because life is complex in its own way. The beauty is we get to express, create and experience all these emotions. thanks for watching and more coming soon :)

    I really like the long takes , the text and voice over carries me through smoothly .I also have some Japan footage from this past summer that I need to make stories out of with some voice overs , but I hate doing voice overs for some reason . Happy Birthday to your partner .

      Oh hey! this comment is too true. Actually I don't like setting it up myself especially in editing software so I do a very lazy unconventional way. I record my voiceovers back into my osmo pocket 3 with the dji mic 2 - like I film my voice overs so I don't have to set up a timeline all that - I write my notes in phone then just do it that way then put it into the timeline and erase the video. I do this because I too find doing them kinda tiresome - so I eliminate anything that might stop me from doing it even if it's the "wrong" way to record - for me its faster and makes me enjoy it a bit more. Thanks for the b'day wishes and more coming soon :)

      thanks so much! im trying to find that middle ground of a vlog and a movie. there's quite a lot of cinematic vlogs these days - mustering up the confidence to stay on my own path and try and express things more often. there's a part of me that wants to try vlog everyday and have a new video up everyday to see what kind of spontaneous storytelling comes from it but there's also a part of me that's worried about it being bad and quality drop. been on my mind for a while now! anyway thanks for the kind comment :)

      @NoHomage Well, whatever you're doing is working. How long does it take to edit and grade your videos?

    • @NoHomage
      @NoHomage  11 дней назад

      @@LifeAsAllen depends on the video! usually 1-2 days sorting out the rough cut (and this is while working jobs/juggling life) so I reckon I squeeze in 6-8 hours to do this per ep ...then another 3-5 hours for titles and music. if I go for the everyday route ill probably be doing 2-5 min episodes with a more raw style - a bit of montage with more free flow talk to camera / obersvartions on life type thing!

      @@NoHomage How much time does using Dehancer add to your videos? I'm on the fence about buying the Lite version.

    • @NoHomage
      @NoHomage  9 дней назад +1

      @@LifeAsAllen hey! ummm it can add a bit coz I enjoy playing round - but I did the same with freshLUTS when I used it. not sure about lite version. it also adds some time because the timeline can get laggy (unless you got a more recent computer but mines 2020 imac) but yeah. honestly not sure about lite! might be less demanding on the system but yeah, for me the two reason it takes time is trial and error and the lag sometimes - however halation, grain, all that it can make images look so nice and nostalgic! hope that helps.

      that's the thing about Japan tho... point a camera anywhere and even if you think its unusable you'll get back load it up and look and go holy crap that's actually way better than I thought! its so much fun, and everytime I come back I try take a bit of that energy back to Melb. go for it, you got this!
