- This time on Pete And His bus I finish the advertising frame that I partially restored a while ago. I also answer a reoccurring question and whip out my sandblaster. The feature car this time around is a Bentley S1. Thanks to Xpressgroup for all their help in printing, please check them out at www.xpressgroup.uk

About Pete And His Bus: Pete is a normal (ish) guy who has a big passion for old vehicles and particularly old buses. He is NOT a trained mechanic nor is he a professional restorer. He enjoys converting vehicles but he can not promise that what he is doing is going to work on your vehicle. Nor can he promise that you won’t harm yourself if you were you to attempt the things he does. He recommends that you are safe and responsible with machinery and equipment even if you’ve seen him messing about with it. A workshop and it’s content can be a dangerous place. If you are in doubt about your own vehicle, contact a professional for advice.
I can answer your question about what was the original paint used on the frame. All the small detail parts were either dipped or sprayed and oven baked. We called it stove enamelled but obviously not in the true sense of vitrous stove enamelling. The paint was either made by PPG or International Paints. I know this as I worked at Aldenham Bus Works from 1978 to 1983 and part of my job was to maintain the spray booths and ovens for that paint line. Now you know! Keep up the good work.
Wow! Well, there we go. Thanks for clearing that up.
Caro Pete, i tuoi video sono decisamente favolosi. Ammiro la tua dedizione e il tuo sforzo per recuperare una grande opera d’arte. Grazie. Massimo.
Thanks so much for watching! Glad you like it. Ciao
Another great episode. Well done Pete. Bus is looking awesome.
Thanks
I love the cars at the start of your videos! The bus is looking great now 👍🏻
Glad you like them, it's a fun thing to film. Thanks for watching .
Your positivity is absolutely incredible, put that along side your dedication, hard work and sheer love for your passion is a complete model for success and it’s nothing short of what you deserve. I can only imagine how much you’re looking forward to getting the inside of the bus looking just as good, if not better. Good luck.
Really appreciate it. Thanks for watching!
Can't beat the old lazy tongs.😃 Cheers.👍
You got that right!
Looks fantastic Pete as soon as I saw you with the sandblasting and no mask , I thought you will regret that tomorrow
And the second outfit was so much more appropriate 👍👍
That little compo is a bit naughty 😂😂😂
Thanks 👍 Yes, sandblasting is a horrid activity but so effective. Thanks for watching.
Hey, Pete, you have that Bond pin up in your new home. You know what's unique about the Bond films? It's the opening sequence and music segment. Keep the car sequence in your opener: it is a unique feature...and the buses, of course - and Compo! Thanks for the videos: very well done!
Thanks for watching bud, the classic cars aren't going anywhere, don't worry!
Great stuff. You go mate. Greetings from South Africa!!
Thanks for watching!
Stupendo Pete il piccolo sta rinascendo un po alla volta grazie alla tua maestria che emozione
Thank you for your kind words, and for watching! More coming soon.
I do like the music used behind the sandblasting sequences. Very Queens Of The Stone Age. 👍
Cool, love that band. Can’t use their stuff though, they’d want paying big time! Thanks for watching
Loved the video, awesome project! The Routemasters, are ACE! But show 'Compo' more love! It's clear that 'Compo' loves you..
Hahah is not so sure.
So thrilling!
Thanks for watching.
If someone said to me, hey do you want to watch a 27 min video of some dude shotblasting old bus advert frames I'd be like er no thanks, but you sir make it an absolute joy, I've watched and enjoyed all of them you really are natural in front of the camera, keep everything engaging and humourus, honestly this needs to be a mainstream tv show.
Im kinda hoping you don't finish the bus so I can watch more !
Thanks so much! Really appreciate it.
I have heard people who restore a bus get a sinking feeling when they've completed it!
@@jamesfrench7299 that’s because they don’t use em when their done! Mine is going straight into the events industry
@@PeteAndHisBus that makes sense. You should feel elated then, until you get the bug for another...
I am the same, Pete has had me hooked from the first vid lol
I am shaw I can hear mc hammer singing stop it’s sticker time I would love to see a finished bus by summer ( not saying which summer tho am I lol) keep up the good work bringing her back from a mouldy old batted pile of bolts back to a lovely old route master
Thanks for watching
i one of the very few that enjoyed that first track foot tapping heaven
Glad you like it
You deserve every bit of appreciation of your hard work. Not only do you do most of the work yourself, you do it in a very enjoyable manner for us to watch. Us wrench monkeys really appreciate the hard and laborious task that isn't very thankful to film, such as sandblasting for days on end. Keep it up and do spoil yourself with some less monotone stuff in between, that's how you keep the fun in a big project like this.
Cheers from Sweden!👍
Thanks so much 👍👍👍
Absolutely love it when I see a new video from this channel on my feed!
I’ve been watching for a while and it’s my favourite thing on RUclips. Great for a bit of feel good and interesting watching.

Great progress. Thanks for uploading. Your video made me and my daughter laugh!!!
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching.
15:34 I spent three of my six years in the army with a bloke from Cheshire who did exactly that every single day at breakfast, followed by "Eeee, nice brew that!" . Every. Single. Day. Thanks for the memory.
As usual, a very funny video.
"Reload.....sandblaster!!!"
haha brilliant! Thanks for watching.
What a fantastic achievement from Esp 1 - 25.
Looking forward to more, be sure to keep Compo in check!
Thanks so much for watching
That wee cherry picker has certainly earned its keep. Coming together nicely now, we’ll done 👍🏻
Couldn’t live without my pop-up!
Welcome back , mate ... missed ur channel . Great to see ya .
Hey, thanks!
Well Pete what a refreshing moment ''DRINKING TEA'' I always thought southerners drank Coffee you must have a bit of the true blood of the north in you lad .Well done
haha can't beat a good brew mate (Sad the Dutch man in perfect English!)
RML 2730 like all Routemasters never had the framing at new ( I think it was fitted late 70s / early 80s ) The "Thin" line just below the present top of frame was on the buses - a sort of drip to prevent the "paper" adverts pasted to the bus sides from getting the adhesive soaked and creating an upper "Butt Joint" line.
👍
Really enjoy the classic car openers. I'd for sure watch an extra chunk of video focused on what you drove up in.
As always, great quality video!
Thanks for watching!
Trouble is it would put out people not into cars but here for the bus's progress.
I do love the "Reload" parts of your videos.
Thanks, there will be many more reloads of all sorts... haha
great video and good to see the progress!
Thanks for watching
So rather than wait for the next episode I’m watching from the start again during Covid isolation. I’m on episode 7 just now and recommend the process to anyone 😂

Looking fab! Nice to see the details coming together. Can’t wait to see the paper coming off the windows 😎👍🏻
You and me both! I'm going to leave it on there for a bit whilst I polish up all the body work.
Hi Pete another excellent episode and keep going matey its all worth it.
Thanks so much bud, really appreciate it! Thanks for watching.
You should blast on a grate like a BBQ grill or oven grill. This way the sand doesn't bounce back in your face. You also needed a big cardboard box to work in with a fan and home filter in front of it. a deflector would bounce the sand to the floor or collection box. That paint sounds like Imeron-type epoxy paint of that time period.
👍👍
You must have read my mind by answering that question!!!
You and many others.. Thanks for watching!
😂👍
@@PeteAndHisBus I can’t even remember what the question was now!! 😂😂
The smaller tasks seem to always take a disproportionately large amount of time. That Bentley you were driving is in amazing condition.
Damn right! Yes, that S1 is absolutely stunning. Drove lovely too.
Love the Classic car segment at the start.Your right there are lots of classic car channels the buses are much more interesting!
Glad you like it. Thanks for watching.
Been a subscriber for quite sometime and always look forward to a new video! Can’t wait to see this bud all finished. I’m sure you have another one lined up too! Thanks for all the content.
Thanks you for your support!
Ha ha ha... What a great video Pete! I already missed Compo...
And the comeback star Etchy primer... 🤣🤣🤣Glorious!
Congratulations Pete for the fine work you have done with the exterior of the bus!
This 2022 is going to be your year man! 👍🏻👍🏻😉😉🤗🤗
YAY!! Couldn’t agree more, thanks for your support
AHH there`s always one little piece that likes to play hide n seek 😜
but getting the frame and boards up was a big B O O M progress moment of proudness, of how far you have come.
Mint work as always Pete 👍 👍
Thanks so much!
Another great video mate
You really should be on a tv show with your comedy gold 👍🏻😂
Thanks, it would be nice to do a bit of telly, who knows! It might still happen.
So comical. Too few and far between but always worth the wait. Also the effort you put into editing these episodes is truly appreciated. Thank you 👍👍👍

Great work again pete, i don't know why but i keep imagining your going to make a trailer out of half an old double decker bus 😁
hahaha! It'll be EVEN slower with that hanging behind it. Thanks for watching!
Well done Pete, bus looks amazing, thank you for a great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Pete, really enjoying the series so far, brings back great memories of traveling on the Buses as a kid in Dublin …. Love the red gt6, great looking example.
Glad you're enjoyed it!
Think that Combo should have his own show 😀.
Haha he’d love that! Btw his name is Compo, with a P.
Always good to see this project progressing, great work and keep the videos coming! More videos please.
Thanks
With that full set of overalls, if all else fails, you could always take up bee-keeping! As always , good video
hahaha! I did have a bee keeping gag planned but it didn't really work.
EXCELLENT
Many thanks!
I KNOW
This is something I should have done in my younger years , my goal now is to have an American 50s convertible convererted to electric, ... lol one day, but a great video loved watching it , need to catch up with the others as I've just found this site.
Oh I see! Well, might I suggest episode 1... haha
Did wonder about the cars, now i know. Glad i never asked and thought all will be explained
👍
Yes Pete..!! Travelling to work in style this episode…. It’s a cool Bentley, although I do think you missed a trick by not having a chauffeur! Great vid as always, see you next time 👍
Good call! Was actually planning on doing that but on the day it didn't happen.
Well, that was a relatively short gap between episodes- good to see! I’m so pleased that you’re called Pete and have a bus, or else the title of the channel would be an absolute mockery.
hahaha! That's funny. Glad you noticed the time, I'm working flat out on it.
@@PeteAndHisBus I’m quite emotionally torn- I want the next episode, and the next, and the next, and am really looking forward to seeing the bus completed in all it’s splendour. But I don’t want the journey (pun intended) to end either. Properly emotionally invested. Aaaagggh!!!
@@srednivashtar5432 don’t panic, there is soooo much to do. Also once it’s done I’m gonna use it, that’ll be good content too. And I can always buy another 😂😂
@@PeteAndHisBus I’m quite enjoying the anticipation as to what the future may bring. Pete and His Tandem? Pete and His Microlight? Pete and His Oberon Class Diesel-Electric Submarine? There’s a whole oyster of a world just waiting for this channel! 😀
Brilliant series.keep up the good work 👍
Thanks for watching!
I love this channel and content, please refit the guard to your grinder to ensure it may continue! 🤣
Hahaha! I don’t own a grinder, I would’ve even know what one looked like....
Keep up the positive work! Bentley type R Continental next time!?
Isn’t it R Type? Type R is a Honda Civic.... 😂
That Compo is a sexy beast!
Agreed!
