this game does so many things that make playing an ARPG better than I thought it could be:
    - gear components that drop often enough you can use them or craft with them at your discretion
    - incentive to explore -- so many places are off the map highlight and contain treasure, and it's exciting to find them
    - being able to redo your build at some cost but not a crippling cost
    - a ton of loot variety
the overall effect is that I enjoy every second of the game

Thanks, I figured that some insight from someone who is rather new to this genre might help other new players.
There is so much more for me to learn.

I bought this a couple months ago but havent got to it yet, but with season 7 of D4 just out and they gave you free trial to level 25 and a discount to buy I had fun but didnt buy since 1) I had other things to spend 50$ on and 2) I remembered I had GD lol so here I am doing some research before playing and the couple vids of your ive watched have been helpful. I was going to look for a builds guide BUT I think I'll just wing it a bit for my first toon lol I only have the base game so I dont have Crucible or other expansions yet but most likely will if I enjoy it enough and also maybe 1 of the loyalist packs for the xmogs lol anyways thanks bud I did like and sub but didnt follow on Twitch as doesnt look like you have been active on there lately or least havent saved any videos to it in awhile lol

Thanks for taking a look at it. Yeah just play whatever class sounds fun to you. If it isn't your thing try something else.
As for the loyalist packs if you wanna help go for it. There is a npc in game called an illusionist. They will allow you to change the appearance of any of you gear to anything you have picked up in game. So you may want to save a few bucks while you take a look at ingame gear.
As for twitch, I do stream there. Currently I do stream there, but I don't save the vods there. It is just much easier to do so here on YT.

    Hey, thanks for this guide.
You basically said, experiment and see what works, as you can always change your mind.
    Explore and have fun.
I just started and was worried, I'd have to research and follow a rigid build or it'd mess me up.

Great thing about the game is there are so many combinations. I just finished up a pure lightning vindicator build. I loved it. Trying to figure out what type of build I want to do next.

This game's still good even after all those years. A rare game that is actually fun and enjoyable.
The game's balance is also surprisingly good, as long as you care to build, your character will be strong enough, unlike many games where only a limited amount of builds are viable or some are too OP compared to others, leading to a tedious imbalance late game. The classic stealth archer in skyrim is a well-known example.
Some game's balancing issues are so bad only certain builds make it to late game content, but because those OP builds can break the game for how good they are and how effortlessly to use them, devs need to buff late game enemies or increase the difficulty, which then makes other builds more and more outperformed.

Thakard, please can you go over the importance of attributes? I have started 3 different characters because every time I dump points into one attribute, I get nothing but gear needing the other attributes. Its is quite daunting. I noticed one streamer says to dump most or all into Physique and the rest will be fine. Thoughts?

    • @ThakardGaming
      @ThakardGaming  4 месяца назад +3

First off this is going to be a little rough because I am on vacation right now. So I can't confirm everything in game.
Physique gives you more health, more Health regeneration, and defensive ability. Defensive ability in turn affects your chance of being hit and chance of being critically hit.
Cunning focuses primarily on offensive ability which is your ability to hit your Target, the amount of physical damage, and the chance to critically hit your target.
While Spirit increase magical damages, total energy amounts, and energy regen rate.
As for gear think of physique as heavy things. Such as plate armor, battle axes, and two-handed swords. Cunning is for the sneaky sneaky type of gear like light armors, daggers, and ranged weapons. Spirit is your sparkly magic gear.
If you have the FG expansion you can also get a Tonic of Reshaping through various quests. This will allow you to reset your abillity points.
Miss placing some AP wont sink your run. Figure out what type of build you will enjoy. Also take a moment to check out the Grim Tools website. They have a searchable item database which is very helpful.
Being on vacation there's not much more I can give you on this one. However, I will add an attribute topic to my list of upcoming videos.

The other thing you can do is watch for gear/modifiers that reduce the requirements needed. For example, there are equipment pieces that may say '-x% physique equipment requirement' - or something like that. In the end, you will get enough gear to outfit several characters.
Putting all into Physique is not a good idea. Balancing can be tough and will take you a few characters to figure out how you want to do it per build. Like Thakard says, respeccing them is pretty easy with the potions you get...so don't be afraid to experiment.
Think through what you want your character to be. A tank - that will take more physique. A ranged specialist - probably going to balance cunning and physique alot more here. A caster - more spirit is going to be key to keep casting those spells and increase the dmg from them. But, it is all about balance. But, the reality is you may start out thinking your character is going to be a certain style using certain specials only to find by the end of the character build that you went in a diff direction because you found another skill that you really enjoy. I set out to make a Necromancer build using ravenous earth only to find I loved bone harvest and changed my guy.

yep dump everything int phys as it considerably improves survivabilit and helps to wear strong chest pieces. That is being said I'd advise to always sit on 10 so point (when you are a beginer and not sure what you are doing) so if you find your weapon that requires cunning or ring that needs spirit you can go for it. You can also find reset potion for that, and since that is the only way to reset attributes you want to be careful spending it. The attrib system is not as punishing as something in Poe for example, that's why you can simplify with these rule of thumbs.
Also, when you level and you need a stat to equip something, you can always pump some point into the other class you planned to combine with, as it gives these stats, depending on the classes you can get a lot of value (spirit, cunning, physique) just leveling one of your class a bit. For example, when I level soldiers I tend to lack spirit to the point where I actually can't wear anything but my leovinus rings, so what I do is that, my other class gets a bit leveled up, so the overall spirit reaches requirement. That is especially true if the other class is soemthing like necromancer or arcanist which both get good chunk of spirit for skill point invested.
This is the reason why if you plan on using certain equipments as soon as you get to the level requirement, it is advised to chek for the necessary stats and put points into class levels in advance so you don't have to spend attrib points and later respec, just so you can equip something at lvl 50 you could have equiped anyway with a slightly different class level distribution. Sometimes I even take out points from my active skills so I can pump a bit higher the class level because certain gear just so that important to equip asap (like when you really want your wretched necessity on, at lvl 45)

How to do multiplayer and/or trade in Grim Dawn?

    • @ThakardGaming
      @ThakardGaming  Месяц назад +2

For Multiplayer click the single player button below the Main Campaign button. Then select join Multiplayer.
Next click start. After that select a server and join up.
As for trading, it is basically taking it from your inventory and dropping it on the ground.

I haven't messed with The Crucible because it wasn't main story so I didn't feel the need to buy it.
The Cosmetics I'm sure are really nice but I've spent way too much on cosmetics for other games over my life.
I have absolutely loved the base game and both expansions.
