    Hi, great build.Im a guitar player but make a few myself.I was just wondering is it a good idea to build a short scale bass with a full size body? I’ve looked online and found nothing.l like the idea that it’s more guitar dimensions but dont want the cramped smaller body with all the controls bunched together.What do you think? Thank you

    • @dannylewisguitars
      @dannylewisguitars  2 месяца назад +2

      It is my humble opinion that you can do whatever you want!

    • @MixingGBP
      @MixingGBP 2 месяца назад +1

      I’m making a 30” short scale bass. I chose to scale the body down just slightly from full. To me, this keeps it from feeling like a toy bass and helps prevent neck dive as the body tends to keep the neck at an upwards angle but not uncomfortably so.

    You know what would be really cool, if you made a bass guitar with a set neck. So the entire bass is one piece of wood!

    Would be nice to have these skills,have questions I see people putting glue on trust rod how the heck could you turn it?

    • @dannylewisguitars
      @dannylewisguitars  Год назад +2

      I put tape over the trus rod before glueing the fretboard so it doesn’t get glue on it. But some people don’t! Some people put a tiny bit of silicon in the trus rod cavity just to keep it from jiggling around. But wood glue won’t really stick to the trus rod material so it shouldn’t keep the nut from turning! Also the nut is the only thing that turns and it’s pretty far removed from the glue.
      That make sense?

    • @grantkoeller8911
      @grantkoeller8911 9 месяцев назад

      Truss rod does not turn, only the bolt turns.

    • @dannylewisguitars

      Not counting handsaws, I have 5 I think! Table saw, scroll saw, circular saw, jig saw, and reciprocating saw. I’d like to get a band saw sometime. Not every saw is good for every job! You can never have enough tools. Unless you ask my wallet.

    • @dannylewisguitars
      @dannylewisguitars  6 месяцев назад +2

      If you mean the black and red tool I’m using at 6:50, that’s called a spoke shave. No roller involved! This is a very cheap spoke shave I bought on Amazon. I think it was around $13. But it works great! Just have to keep the blade sharp.

    • @dannylewisguitars

  • @grantkoeller8911

    i thought you would snap off neck,because you clamped in the head stock!!!!!!!

    • @dannylewisguitars
      @dannylewisguitars  Год назад +2

      You mean when I was carving the neck and I clamped the headstock to the table? If that snapped it, there's no way it could handle the strings! The string tension puts way more force on the neck and headstock than me carving it!
