Hi, great build.Im a guitar player but make a few myself.I was just wondering is it a good idea to build a short scale bass with a full size body? I’ve looked online and found nothing.l like the idea that it’s more guitar dimensions but dont want the cramped smaller body with all the controls bunched together. What do you think? Thank you
I’m making a 30” short scale bass. I chose to scale the body down just slightly from full. To me, this keeps it from feeling like a toy bass and helps prevent neck dive as the body tends to keep the neck at an upwards angle but not uncomfortably so.
I put tape over the trus rod before glueing the fretboard so it doesn’t get glue on it. But some people don’t! Some people put a tiny bit of silicon in the trus rod cavity just to keep it from jiggling around. But wood glue won’t really stick to the trus rod material so it shouldn’t keep the nut from turning! Also the nut is the only thing that turns and it’s pretty far removed from the glue. That make sense?
Not counting handsaws, I have 5 I think! Table saw, scroll saw, circular saw, jig saw, and reciprocating saw. I’d like to get a band saw sometime. Not every saw is good for every job! You can never have enough tools. Unless you ask my wallet.
If you mean the black and red tool I’m using at 6:50, that’s called a spoke shave. No roller involved! This is a very cheap spoke shave I bought on Amazon. I think it was around $13. But it works great! Just have to keep the blade sharp.
You mean when I was carving the neck and I clamped the headstock to the table? If that snapped it, there's no way it could handle the strings! The string tension puts way more force on the neck and headstock than me carving it!
That wood is GORGEOUS! So is the finished product!
I love the wood! I don’t know what species it is but it’s beautiful!
@@dannylewisguitars Tulip I think. Used a lot during the depression as a "Filler" wood.
Beautiful job and I especially love the way you work so safe so you don't lose a couple of fingers in the process LOL
Cold build, sick guitar. That action makes my fingers hurt. Love from a fellow bass player. 🫰
Very nice!!!
This man is out here making my dreams come true!
that desk sounds awesome
Thank you friend.
Another great build. I'm thrilled to see your talent on display
Thanks Rob!
Fascinant de maîtrise 🗼🏰 ,
Very talented and very cool 😎🎸👍. Love the fret markers.
Clever on the fret markings, I like it.
Very nice build...
Thanks!
Wow I am impressed a true work of art from a master Craftsman
I'm a poor man so I can't buy a guitar and make it as good as yours. Then the guitar seems like a dream 🥺🥺🥺
I'm in love your craftsmanship, but I can't help but express my disconcern about the action here.
Beautiful bass mate
Soo coool

It is my humble opinion that you can do whatever you want!

You know what would be really cool, if you made a bass guitar with a set neck. So the entire bass is one piece of wood!
fun+tastic !! bravo!
Beautiful! Seem like it’s got an extremely high action though
Now, let’s see you turn this bass back into a desk! 😅
Would be nice to have these skills, have questions I see people putting glue on trust rod how the heck could you turn it?

Truss rod does not turn, only the bolt turns.
HOW MANY SAWS do u hav?

You can never have enough saws!
@@ryanriggs9963 we should all go buy some more! Our spouses will surely understand!
Dude what was that ‘roller’ planer you used on the back of the neck! I wantz!!!

@@dannylewisguitarsThat is rad! Thanks so much!
Ase how can i get the materials, the pattern the machines and all required to make a bass guitar, I want to start it as a business of mine
very nice
Your radius block is flirting with me!
Damn right.
🦒Wouha _bravo 👏
How do you find the bridge distance without the neck being made too measure the scale length for intonation?
I made the neck before I measured for the bridge location. Maybe I’m not sure what you mean?
i thought you would snap off neck, because you clamped in the head stock!!!!!!!

true @@dannylewisguitars
better get blade guard
Get a Damm blade guard that how I cut off mine
No blade guard? Your luck not going to last long
Hm
All good, just don't make a guitar into a desk!
Im not sure ill ever understand how someone can build so many guitars but never take the time to finish them to a high quality.
I’m sorry you didn’t like it! I hope you can rest easy knowing that it doesn’t have any affect on your life!
this is my third day awake I cant sleep I always think of you@@dannylewisguitars
ha got em!

Nice but yet I always wished to see turning a guitar into a desk 😂
