Is it possible to orient the 4x8 black floppy the same way as a Matthews 4x8 floppy, with the loose fabric hanging down next to the stand, and so that the darker side will face the talent? There isn't much info about this thing online and I can't be sure that I will be able to mount it how I'd like for max light absorption.
Westcott clamps and grips are here www.fjwestcott.com/shop/accessories/mounts-clamps The arm with the flex mounted to it may be one of these. www.manfrotto.us/2-section-single-articulated-arm-without-camera-bracket
Hi Jem, thanks for a very well presented video: Practical solutions using the tools of your craft, watching these methods is liberating from the theory yet builds on the theory. You mention you design the DP kit is that correct, if so impressive, on my wanna list.
@@WestcottLighting - You are welcome. PS: We also have a lighting company here in Germany. They are called Arnold & Richter. You might find them interesting.
nice to see what, but westcott, how do we set up the DP kit, we are not all "professionals" or ones that have used this equipment before, and for goodness sake, it shouldn't have to be like building IKEA furniture (relying on Chinese like diagrams, with no clear instructions!!). come on Westcott, a manufacturer like yourselves can do better than this :-) . all we ask is for some simple and slow how to videos, like a video instruction manual for your products.

How can the do kit be used standalone w/ natural light only or practicals only? One man band style. Camera, tripod, dp kit. Any suggestions?
check out westcottu.com for more on using flex and Scrim Jim Cine including this article westcottu.com/using-leds-as-practicals-for-cinematic-shots .
