- What is the best vlogging youtube camera for under $200? I compared the Canon t3i, Zoom Q2n 4k, Gopro Hero 5 and Canon Vixia RF800. I ran some comparison tests for picture quality, audio, b-roll.

I honestly sincerely telling you this....
This is the most relevant video to the keywords "best budget 1st vlogging camera"
You've tested them all and compared it on 1 screen, they really are affordable and you communicate all the important points we need to know. Thanks!!!
This was extremely helpful please do more u really broke it down for first time blogger
i like the Zoom the best.
I just got one to help relearn my personal guitar jam sessions. Zoom knows sound.
Watching this in Dec 2021 and blown away by the quality of your videos. No idea how you don’t have viewers knocking 500k. Best and most realistic tech comparisons I’ve seen in ages…
Thanks so much for the kind words. I want to get back into putting out videos and it’s encouraging comments like this that keep me motivated. ❤️
I don't know how people use their DSLR cameras to vlog. Arm muscles must be crazy good. Lol
silentj624 ikr 🤣
also like trying to carry it into small stores and be discrete is impossible
Ayyyyyy this is the type of content we like to see! Super helpful review! Thankyou!
Thanks mate!!
I love how thoroughly you reviewed these. I've watched so many videos that were crazy expensive and at the end say well they all work but don't compare what works better for what features.
Outdoors, they all picked up wind noise except the Zoom.
Indoors, T3i was lighter and washed out colors (3rd place indoors), versus the Vixia was muted and fuzzy picture (4th place indoors). GoPro mic is nothing special but had a cleaner picture (2nd place indoors), overall though the Zoom sounded better and still had good picture.
The T3i even at 60 still seemed like it was only recording at 20fps, but great pictures. The Vixia just was nothing great, more on par with the $100-120 cameras. GoPro's biggest issue is the mic so an external is definitely needed. I believe the Zoom is the winner, but that is my opinion.
The T3i and Vixia looked like they had lower fps.
yeah, but the problem wiht the zoom is that I don't think you can use it with a tripod, so harder to carry.
You can definitely use the zoom with a tripod! it has a mount on the bottom! I actually just finished a full length review on the zoom if you wanted to see any more info or tests on it! Feel free to check it out! Thanks guys!
@@TylerRostedt thanks dude, which one do u recommend?
I liked the video as soon as you said "so you wanna start that vlog you've been talking about for 6 years" I can already tell he gets people
How could you dislike such a helpful video?
yes to the "more on the zoom" video.
It’s in the works right now! 👍🏻
@@TylerRostedt imo the Zoom was killing it in these tests compared the rest and since I'm seriously working on a music vlog idea, I'm definitely interested. Will check your channel to see if it's up since this is an old message....
Literally sitting at my computer editing it right now! I’m traveling the next 2 days but I will reply as soon as it’s up! Thanks for the patience! 🤙🏻
@@TylerRostedt ♥ Take your time! I've got a cellphone tripod with a ring light on order because it was the most economical way to get started, but I'm super interested in the info for future reference. If I stick with this, I WILL be upgrading. Eventually! :)
I just posted the full zoom review! Took me way too long to finish! haha! Feel free to check it out! Lots of tests and comparisons in there! thanks again for the comments guys! :)
You’re amazing! This is the EXACT video I needed
ruclips.net/video/mV8QrJJDul4/видео.html
TFW you keep trawling through videos until you find an Aussie who cuts the shit and tells you what you want to know in less than 30mins.
That’s good shit mate! 👍🏻
Very in depth, many real-life application examples and actually actual budget-budget cameras. Thank you! So much!
You've really put things in perspective. The flip out screen is something I hadn't considered until now. A for sure requirement now. Great work Tyler
I love my VIXIA RF7000. I understand what you mean about some weird tints but I've played around with lighting for my videos to make it look better. I attached an eternal for studio purposes but vlogging, it's fine on its own. A love it haha
Be extremely careful that the Q2n 4K camera does not tip over when attached to a tri pod, the housing that holds the tripod is not strong. That's exactly what happened to mine, 5 month old camera , now useless. Very disappointed that Zoom would not make this right and cover this under warranty.
I think the GoPro can be an excellent studio camera. They probably weren’t created for it, but it’s still a camera and can be utilized like any camera.
first ever video that got me hooked in the first couple seconds. GOOD JOB DUDE!
im suprised the gopro was best in low light, because i'm more interested in low light and at least it has to be sharper and better than a gopro in lowlight.
This video was SO HELPFUL!!! I am going to Guatemala for Peace Corps and I want to document my time there, I am currently debating between the go pro and the vixia. thank you so much!!!!!
Thats going to be sick post it on your channel or something
Wow thanks! very helpful First Video I found that actually helped & showed me instead of just “talking”
Really like the zoom for the wide angle and audio quality wow will probably buy
Zoom is great! I actually just posted a full review of the zoom if you wanted to check it out!
Jesus christ, the Zoom's audio quality is nutty
Its pretty crazy isn't it! I actually just posted a full review on the zoom! feel free to check it out! Thanks again for the comment!
and video is so sharp
The best camera review Ive seen besides Neistat. Thank you sir!
The first person to ever make me want to 'subscribe' to anything on here...but this video is so compelling...so fair, so thorough, so honest.
And so Australian...
The vlog video i din't know I needed. Thanks my dude gonna forward to my pops
I'm a musician constantly searching for a simplified, but quality solution for recording live shows. I would love to see a video on the Zoom in 'low light', both close up and a little further back in a club setting. Just wonder how much audio and video degrades in a room with lots of background noise, and dim lighting. You can see my problems if you look at some of the recent jazz recordings I made with my iphone X (with no external mic). I had a zoom Q8, which was great for audio, but I felt like the video was severely lacking.
Hey man! Just posted my full zoom review! I wasn't able to do any club recordings! But I did a ton of low light tests and singing and guitar tests compared to other cameras/iphone. Feel free to check it out! thanks again for the comment!
Your personality and the way you look just gots me curious and amused. Man beautiful constructed video
and I mean you got such bubbly personality. Lool
Especially in the B-Roll test, the ability of the Q2n-4k to use the Sony sensors' DOL-HDR capability really shows off. Just look at the way the sky and the sun are rendered, while having no details at all in the other three cameras.
Great comment! An overlooked feature! I agree!
zoom killed it in every way! except it doesn't have flip screen but because it has wider view i can certainly do something in post.
The zoom is great! I just posted my full review of the camera! Yes the no flip screen can be a little tricky. But yes! it is so wide its very easy to get yourself in frame! Thanks for watching!
I bought the Zoom Q2N4K because of this video... Im a musician so the audio quality made sense for me. Also I thought it was the best looking... Just got it this week. Videos to come! Thanx!
That’s awesome to hear! Good luck! Like any small sensor camera. Make sure to try and use plenty of light if you can. Will help result in cleaner looking footage :)
@@TylerRostedt Good advice! I found that out on my own already... Aside from that, had it one week and no issues whatsoever! Love your videos! Thanx for the help!
Me and a couple of buddy's are going in a trip for about a week. We will do underwater, zip-lining, cave exploring, and partying. But we want to record vlog while were there as well as our adventures. I believe the best camera for me is the GoPro for the adventures but for the vlog im still indecisive. What does everyone else think for the vlog?
GoPro 7. For underwater it has the best picture and microphone for vlogging. If you trade in any digital camera (working or not) you can get $100 off. So only $299. Great price. Buy broken digital camera for $1 or free off Craigslist. Send it to GoPro and get $100 off!
Is there a camera similar to the zoom but with a flip screen?
Installing the magic lantern hack on the t3i changes the game completely
Thankyou for an actual useful video instead of like 10-20 cameras ranging from about $400- million bucks
From the 1st few mins the Zoom and the Vixia seem really good, surprised that the GoPro was actually really bad, even when it's not second hand. The camera quality isn't noticeable either
Super helpful, and I’m glad the GoPro hero 5 made it on the list cause that’s what I was looking into lol. Definitely showed the difference in audio quality tho between something like the Zoom and the GoPro
Hey I’m glad the video could be helpful! That’s why I try to do the different tests so you can see where they shine and where they fall short! Thanks for watching!
Awesome content. The Zoom was awesome...but I do wish it took pics. That hinders it's ability as an 'all around' camera. Not sure I like the AA battery thing either. I feel that could get annoying but overall vid and sound were amazing for the price.
This literally helped me out so much. Thanks for the advice and help. Starting to become a RUclipsr now! Thanks once again!!
Kiana Fender Vlogs your channel still have empty video
As a sort of musician I'm Probably getting the Zoom. At $140 it's kind of a no brainer with that audio quality.
are you able to use it with a tripod?
@@galacticquasar9944 Yes, it has a 1/4-20 thread port on the bottom. I did a review on my channel
Why only 10k subscribers.. you deserve more than that
You really explain them well and gave very useful tips.
BYU.. daughter applying right now for Provo !!!
Neat video.
"What if your Vlog Sucks?"
LMFAO!!!!
Look,if you are going to be walking or moving around at all with the camera, then Image Stabilization is critical.
If you are only going to have it on a tripod, then image stabilization is nothing to worry about.
Now in Mid 2020 I love the Osmo Action cam which also has a front screen.
Great review. I didn't read the comments so forgive me if it's already been mentioned but just FYI, the Canon t3i can shoot much longer videos than the 12 minute limit after you install the magic lantern software. I think I can now get it to film 30 minutes.
I came here to look into the Zoom Q2n4K because after a decade of recording one of the channels on my trus ty Zoom H2 stopped working. I own the t3i and now I'm on the fence. Do I just buy a H2n to replace the H2 and use it with my t3i or buy t a q2n4k? Hard decision because I'm been streaming on Zoom (the software) a lot lately and looking to combine the t3i as a webcam together with a Zoom mic. It might be overkill to put a camera/mic on top of a camera....
I have the T4i and had no idea it could take such great video 😅. Thanks for the awesome informative vid!
Excellent comparison. I just need an update to this list for August 2021.
I’m working on it! 🙌🏻
Ha! Started watching this assumed you were halfway around the world based on your accent. And then you show up in BYU gear with the Wasatch Mountains in the background. I'm here in Utah too.
Tyler, thank you so much for doing this video. I have a quick question. I want to video indoors only while creating my art work. On a budget so would the Canon Vixia RF800 be okay for this task?
Following bc same situation for me
you killed this video great editing skills the whole set is everything thank you for this information new subscriber
Your proposal video is so cute
Thanks! 😊
this is just the video i've been looking for since weeks ago
1:11
This EPIC mountains
Thank you for the heads up.. atleast now i know which one to go for
Wow! This was really helpful. Thank you for al the screen to screen comparisons.
this video was super helpful. Thank you so much. if you have the time, it would be helpful to do this again with cameras that are like $200 to $350. it feels like cameras are either 150 dollars or 800. like wtf... no middle?
thanks again.
I’ve been thinking about something along these lines! I will put it into my video idea notebook and see what I can come up with! :)
Super impressed with the zoom.
Hey thats dope! I just posted a full video about the zoom with a lot more footage and tests!
Love the BYU hat. Looking for a video camera to take on a first time cruise (Alaska). At a great price. Love the quality of the GoPro.
Great video. Lots of useful info. Thanks for sharing this.
The zoom is my favorite!!!
Dog footage in crispy B roll = immediate "like"
Love this video! Exactly what I was looking for!
Awesome video dude !!!!! thank you for this video it helps a lot with me choosing a camera and I'm going to watch it again for reassurance by tonight.
Well, I got Samsung NX mini for 95 euro. Pretty happy with it. This little camera is great for vlogging
Thanks for the excellent reviews, very informative.
I liked this video for the helpful content in the beginning, and then i saw the dogs. i wish i could double like this video
Thank you; this was helpful.
You’re very welcome. Glad it could be helpful!

Thanks! I actually just uploaded a full in depth review of the zoom if you want to learn more about it. Have been testing it for over 6 months!

Great revue, very helpful! Thank you
This was a really helpful video, and the dogs had me laughing too!
thanks!
that was informative!
Thanks bro.. camera for studio type please
In my opinion, the GoPro had a better audio sound, and a Tie on video focus with the others.
This was so helpful.Thank you so much!
Great video. Maybe I'm an idiot but two of the four camera didn't have flip out screens correct! It was stated flip out screens are essential to vlogging correct? So only two of the mentioned cameras are actually appropriate for making RUclips videos correct, no fun intended just learning. Thanks
Flip our screen is a super helpful thing to have and helps you a ton with framing your shot. But there are lots of people who make videos without a flip-out screen. When you’re working within such a tight budget there are some things you prioritize and you can’t get every feature you want so it comes down to what is important to you.
This video is super helpful! Thanks.
Thank you bro. I will consider the ZOOM
The first two are my favorite
WOW GREAT VIDEO 4 ME, I OWN 3 OF THE 4 CAMERAS YOU HAVE, THANK U SO MUCH I LEARNED A LOT, SEE U CAN TEACH A OLD DOG NEW TRICKS, SORRY 4 CAPS I DONT SEE ALL THAT WELL
hey, nice video :D i wanna buy the zoom , how do u made it that the camera is so far away from your head, compered to the other ? looks sick do u got a selfie stock or smth ?
I do have a little selfie stick/tripod that I use with the gopro or zoom! But the zoom is very wide already! I just posted a full review video of the zoom if you want to check it out for more info!
Upscaling the Canon you gimped it in comparison. I'm gonna bet you didn't mention Magic Lantern. If you only need 1080p the depth of field of the T3i is going to be nice, that said though I was impressed with the Zoom Q2n.
Yeah that’s one of the challenges comparing cameras. It’s almost impossible to fairly show 1080 vs 4k. Either one gets upscaled or the other gets downsampled. And I thought about mentioning magic lantern, but unfortunately that was something that didn’t make the final cut. The zoom is a surprising little tool. I actually just did an in depth review breaking down the zoom. Thanks for your comment
