Thank you for your insight. The content you make is amazing. I request you to make a video on how to convert a cad model in Fusion 360 to an urdf file.
Yeah I have listened about it as well as used it a couple of times, but considering the other CAD Softwares, the functionalities and capabilities of FreeCAD is really very less.
Thanks for the information, as always your content is just awesome. I have a question: apart from URDF, Is there any design program that is supported by Ubuntu?
Yes. You can view designs in different file formats on Ubuntu. You can view it in .obj, .stl, etc. But if you wish to use it in ROS Simulation, then your robot model should be compulsaryly in stl/dae format along with URDF description of robot which joins all pieces together. I hope that answers your question
Why do you need to group components while they already are an assembly? You can just move one thing to move others. And also you can make nested assembly which works as the same as grouping. And thanks for the compliment on video 🤗
@@PranshuTople My main concern is with the components list on the left... When we make an assembly with a lot of components, it is very easy for the component list to run very long and end up confusing even with proper naming of components. So I feel if we can make groups to make the list look tidy and easy to navigate to components for selection/right click options
Yes you can do that too in fusion 360. But a better option for that is to use Gazebo Building Editor and world builder. I will be making a tutorial about the same soon
Thank you very much 🤗🤗 I have been watching your videos for over 4 years now!!! You were my inspiration to start with making robots with sunboard pvc. Your appreciation means a lot for me. 🙌🏻🙌🏻
@dat nguyen ngoc Using sw2urdf, it imports assembly automatically. So you need not to worry about it. I will be uploading tutorials about it soon. So stay tuned... 😉
Firstly, I won't recommend that as that is illegal. Secondly, even if you give me SolidWorks for free, still I will use Fusion 360 because of UI/UX, simplicity in learning and using, feature list and online collaboration and ton of other features
I am sorry to say, but you should get the answer by yourself by looking at people who know about it and use it. Plus, here i have mentioned softwares compared to the use in ROS. There are a lot of limitations in NX and hence it comes no where around Fusion 360 or Solidworks
@@mohitjoc25 Technically I won't recommend both. I would blindly support Fusion360 as it is everything you need. But if you compare between just Katia and solidworks, then I will choose SolidWorks
I never heard of it! And from the things i came to know by researching about it now, is that its a very old software, but definitely by a great company Siemens!!! But I have never heard anyone using this software atleast in the Robotics industry!!!
I kept the list limited to softwares that could design robots that can be imported then in ROS simulation. And I don't think onshape can do that. Yet thanks for suggestion. I will look into it.
Fusion360 doesn't seem to be a good choice for people without money to spare who are working on potential commercial projects. They changed their license to be unfriendly - an open source alternative could be better.
You can use it for free until and unless you earn more than $1000 from it. And I don't think sparing a little price as compared to other professional grade softwares to the original creators is wrong when you are earning a lot from it.
@@PranshuTople I think that may have changed "Fusion 360 for personal use is a limited version that includes basic functionality, free for 1-year for non-commercial use" www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/personal The hardest part of a project is getting started, paying $60 a month is quite a bit for projects in development.
