- The Virtue's main armament, it is a large, handheld cannon that fires a beam of high density, high energy GN Particles. The GN Bazooka can vaporize multiple mobile suits with a single shot, but has to be charged before firing. One of the most powerful weapons used by the third generation Gundams, it can be operated in two modes: "Normal Mode" and the far more powerful "Burst Mode". Also known as the "GN Bazooka Burst Mode", it is the weapon's maximum output form. The Burst Mode's destructive power is further enhanced during Trans-Am, but its particle consumption become so intense that the Trans-Am ended immediately after a single shot.

If it wasn't made clear enough, Virtue rlly suffered a large charge up period. Glad Seravee's design resolved that issue

What makes it even more scary, the original GN drives can regenerate their own particles.
So Virtue could hide in an asteroid field and literally wipe an entire army given enough time.

Gundam has had its share of devastating energy weapons but the GN Bazooka feels unique by how it's presented. There's a certain feeling of divine wrath - or Godly judgement - to this inescapable pillar of light that obliterates everything in its path. Some of that is of course the bombastic musical score accompanying it and the whole angelic motif of Celestial being, but I think it's also because it there's no real sense of struggle or reluctance on its part. It just kinda floats/stands there silently, slowly and purposefully moves its bazooka into place, and then everything in front of it dies.
Maybe it's the charge up time for the weapon that makes you anticipate a powerful attack which also happens to be one of it's weaknesses

It definitely scratches a certain primal instinct when you see it used, similar to when you use the BFG in Doom. A giant middle finger to any problem you need immediately rectified, in the form of a massive Energy Beam of Phased Particles/Plasma.
@@darkelysium2187 there's also the Satellite cannon for overwhelming destruction, though that's not necessarily a first pumper all the time.
Yes, its called the element of anticipation. It's that overwhelming feeling when we know what going to happen when the GN Bazooka charges.
This is why Virtue is my favorite GUNDAM.

Yeah it's easy to dodge if you are another mobile suit but without a base to return to you will run out of power & spare parts.

I like how this thing is not a bazooka at all, they just decided to call it that because it sounds like something that would do a lot of damage. In UC bazookas actually shoot rockets and stuff but Celestial Being thought it would be funny to just build a huge gun.
Perhaps "GN Annihilation Lance" Would be a more appropriate name for this weapon, given what it is?
I mean Virtue is supposed to be the heavy weapons of the 4 gundams and bazooka fits for being a powerful wide area effect weapon compared to a pew pew rifle. Also the name "bazooka" kinda suggests what it does

Yeah, it looks like it's nearly as big as the Virtue itself, but then at 0:20 it suddenly just looks like a slightly oversized rifle.

Celestial Being is a terrorist group. They are not the heroes nor do they class themselves as heroes. Also the direct villains of the show did kill more people.
Between the Mordred from Code Geass and this, giant center-held 'fuck everything in this general direction' energy cannons are a weapon archetype I'd like to see more often... or not if it's a game like the upcoming Armored Core and I could be the one downrange from it.

I've always disliked how slowly the enemy mobile suits disintegrated the first few times the GN Bazooka was used; it made it seem less powerful than it actually is

@@CheemsofRegret Virtue does use 2 GN Bazooka for the final battle albeit for a short time. (Loses them when Ali al Saachez attacks Tieria with the GN Fangs but grabs the nearest before the Trans Am.)

Not really , If the cannon can fire continuously for more than 2 minutes you can cook the pilot but not the mobile suit and assuming if the ibo suit stands still for 2 whole minutes absorbing all the bazooka's fire power for 2 minutes without it stopping to recharge instead of the typical 30 seconds fire then stop
Canon states that nanolaminate coating can withstand ANY BEAM WEAPON but it will peel off overtime if not maintained after every engagement. There's a reason why they call Beam weapons obselite in ibo
@@y.kazayaki3681 I don’t really see how an IBO suit is going to come out of a GN Bazooka blast in one piece when the beam is large enough to envelop an entire MS many times over, and would certainly destroy the exposed frame segments/ sensors, and then the suit from the inside-out.

Have you built the Master Grade? The Gundam is insanely well designed. The season 2 designs were all kind of cobbled together compared to the third generation suits.

I'd say the Thrones Eins is more of a derivativr of the Hyak. Considering it has a weapon called the GN Mega Bazooka Launcher, which also needed another mobile suit to connect with.

Super cool weapon but where did they test such weapons without the enemy knowing? Its rather a inconspicuous path of destruction.
In deep space. They did do some work in the blind spots of the world like the other side of the moon in order to keep activity hidden, but they mostly just needed to be somewhere where there would be no visual observers since you can't detect GN activity with conventional electronics. As big as the GN Bazooka's full burst is, it's still less than a spec in space.
Likely in deep space or VEDA could just test it in a virtual simulation without firing the real thing
likely at the edge of the solar system or deep space . gundam almost always takes space between earth / the moon / space colonies . but its often mentioned in every gundam universe they reached farther than the moon aka jupiter / mars
