  • I am back!
After a period away from game, I have returned with my first video in a number of months and I figure, what better way to kick things off again than to do one of my Garage Update vids and show you a bunch of things that I have been and am actively working on as well as giving you a sneak peak at some upcoming mods for my MK3 Ford Focus RS that have been building up in the garage!
I show you a number of boxes containing upcoming goodies, including a large rectangular box with a red coloured metal item...
Also, I am going to be bringing back the carbon fibre theme, with multiple new items from different fabricators including Seibon, red5, Cobb and more!
Most of these are for the front end I can reveal, but one is not!
Beyond the carbon bits, there are multiple Radium Engineering boxes - these are beautifully made parts and will make a positive functional difference as well as looking great - can you guess what they are?!
I also have on the garage floor, a brand new intake system from Mishimoto!
I will be making some modifications to the mod before installation so watch this space!
The 'doing' parts of this Garage Update are all about taking different suspension components and both refurbishing them and also upgrading them at the same time in anticipation of installing into the RS.
The first of these are the rear trailing arms - both have surface rust and old OEM bushings that are squishy rubber so the idea is to get rid of the old bushings, removing/treating surface rust, installing brand new uprated PowerFlex trailing arm bushes and finally repainting!
I did notice an interesting design feature with the trailing arms - Ford decided to only weld the bushing ring on one side. While I have never heard of these failing, it does seem to me like an unnecessary weak point that I can easily fix - by welding the other side myself!
So this is what I do after getting the old bushings out and before continuing the refurb process.
Getting the old bushings out was somewhat of a pain but I get there in the end and make excellent progress!
Similarly the other components that I am working on are the front wishbones - doing the exact same stuff which is to get rid of old fixing points, refurbish the actual wishbone and then install brand new and uprated fixings.
The wishbones are more involved, having three fixing points - two bushings and the ball joint. Replacements I am doing from 3 companies - Whiteline for the big bushing, PowerFlex for the small bushing and then Hardrace for the ball joint - all going to be awesome once done!
The last part of the Garage Update is not in the garage at all - I get on the road to Kotec Coatings - the number 1 certified Cerakote applicator in Northern Ireland - where Andy will be sorting out the rusty old wheel nuts that I need for my 12 mm spacers!
    Power flex bushes used:
    REAR TRAILING ARM BLADE BUSH
    PFR19-812
Provides stability to the rear trailing arm whilst allowing the knurled pattern bush to freely rotate in the supplied outer shell.

FRONT WISHBONE FRONT BUSH 14MM BOLT
    PFF19-8011
    OEM Part Number: 1570284 / 1570285 / 1570287

Hardrace Front Lower Ball Joint Q0026
HARDRACE front lower ball joint replace your old ball joint to give you a more accurate feel with the steering. OEM direct replacement . Regular greasing not required . No noise or squeaks

Whiteline Front Control Arm - Lower Inner Bushing Kit (anti-lift kit)
Whiteline Anti Lift Kits are primarily designed to improve traction and cornering grip under power. Increasing static caster to both front wheels. The special low compliance bushings reduce caster wind-back and maintain tighter tolerances between static and dynamic alignment settings. The additional caster coupled with the firmer bushings serve to dramatically sharpen initial turn-in response - forcing more consistent alignment angles through the corner due to the reduced bush compliance
Note: Performance Alignment Kit - adds +0.75deg caster + anti-lift - includes housing
