Complicated engines of course, took much more time to work with, but the result is also, like a prize. You invest your funds (time and money) into the engine and engine is serving you with performance and stable result. I like YS engines, and it doesn't matter, in what condition I received it. I think I have a use for my FZ-53! Bought a Balsa USA Northstar at my LHS and I don't care for 2-strokes all that much, so this poor little FZ-53 I've had for a couple years with nothing to do finally has a home. Prop chart goes 10-9, 10-10, 11-7, 11-8, 12-7, 12-8, so I think given the airplane's limited prop clearance, I will use a 10-7-3.
@@crazyengines88 Even an 11-10 would require either lifting the engine pod higher up or slotting the wing. A 10-7 3-blade is roughly equivalent in load to a 11-7 2-blade but will clear the wing without any modifications, and the manual for the FZ-53 says an 11-7 2-blade is perfectly acceptable. The manual even calls out a 10-9 or 10-10 as acceptable props. Unthinkably small for a normal 4-cycle this size, but YS engines are thoroughbreds!

From one side, YS constructional; complication is only the way how to increase power / wait factor and I should say, that from this side Yamada was make really great job. From the other side, to obtain stable performance, YS engines always need to be precisely tuned before flight. But, once tuned, it could be handle this settings for a long time, I don't know, how long, to be honest. My experience with YS confirm, that it will take time to tune an engine into perfect operational state. But probably, the gain in power and performance could greatly compensate this time investment. That idle sounds soo smooth! I like the idea of using a rubber band to keep the crank at top dead center while timing the camshaft

I was impressed by the design of the piston, it seemed to have a unique design from the quick view of it. I like YS engines a lot.

Great news ! Yamada FZ 53 should be a very perfect choice, for sure. How do you think, could it turn 11 x 10 prop or its clearance is to high ?

Fantastic sound nice job, I love glo engines but always thought YS was overly complicated so I never purchased one
