I've never seen him as a villain though. He's had several redemption arcs in the comics. He even became the leader of the X Men when Charles was incapacitated
as Deadpool said in Deadpool 2 "These timelines get so confusing"... if I were you, I would just enjoy them and not think too much about the first 3 from here on out lol Great reaction, bro!
So X-Men: First Class acts as a soft reboot where there's some retcons relating to Charles for example the fact he could walk in X-Men Origins set in the 1980s but of course lost the ability to walk in this film in the 1960s. We also have the Flashback in X3 where Charles met with a young Jean which should him walking. But this film is 100% canonical to the timeline we see in the original three films. I also liked how this film is a much better introduction to these characters actually spending time with rather than focusing all on Logan and no one else even if I wish we got more personal deep chats around the characters and not the plot. The setting is also an aspect I love we really do need more superhero period movies something Watchmen does really well. In the comic's the X-Men were formed in the 1960s and operated throughout the following decades with each decade bringing in a new roster of hero's. Original Timeline X-Men First Class X-Men Origins: Wolverine X-Men X2 Last Stand
Erik killed Shaw while Charles was telepathically controlling him, so Charles felt that death like he was living it first-hand. That is one of the cruelest things you can do to a telepath. In fact, it is really awful to kill anyone near a telepath for that very reason. Also, it was traumatic for Charles because he knew he was losing his friend. Erik crossed an important line there.
This movie captures the friendship between Eric and Charles so well that you can see the familiarity each of them have in later life. This was movie a reboot of the franchise and it's better of for it if I'm to be honest.
The actor that was Banshee is the brother from Get Out if you have seen that. Love ur excitement and Da Spot needs to make an appearance in the vids again

Dont trip too hard on the continuity errors, youll drive yourself crazy trying to connect all the movies lol. The dots they connect on purpose are fun and cool, but the holes that they forget to connect ya just kinda gotta chalk it up and be like "Well I guess Charles and Mystique knew each other in the older movies, but we just didn't get to see it.." OR "Damn this movie is set in the 60s??? I guess they all just aged really well..." That's the only way 🤷🏻♂️ lol. But it's a fun ride. Good stuff mane ✊🏽
These days the negatives speak the loudest and most people who enjoy films just you know keep quiet and enjoy them lool moral of the story is to give everything ago for yourself
He's my favorite X Men franchise character because he's pretty much an anti hero more than a straight villain, and when it comes to his beliefs I'm on board with his more than Charles's
Yes!!! I am just Loving your X-men journey, your joy, excitement, & energy are Amazing and Contagious ❤ I mean you Cannot watch a Major Reaction and Not Smile the whole time😊
Ya remember in origins the diamond girl was the sister of wolverine’s girl! She was at the Lake Facility being held hostage. So cool how all these fit together so amazingly
I think (maybe) the only time in the first 3 X-Men movies Charles and Raven are in the same room is when Mystique pretends to be Stryker [in X2] to retarget all humans VS all mutants, in the dark Cerebro.
Emma Frost is a wild one. In the comic books, she became a teacher at the academy despite the fact that she never really reformed. The X-Men put up with letting a villain teach their children because they know she would fight to the death to protect them. She is seriously messed up and does not follow Xavier's moral rules about telepathy. Anyway, when she turns into diamond, she can no longer use telepathy, but it's immune to telepathy. She can also take a crazy amount of damage in that form. Magneto was flexing when he did that to her.
Nightcrawler (Kurt) is Azazel and Mystique's son (hence why he's blue like her and teleports like him along with having a tail.) Yes, that's one of Scotts Brothers. Yes, it's the same Moria that was in X3. Logan doesn't have the Adamantium yet as per this movie's setup because the US is learning of mutants for the 1st time. You'll also discover quite of few continuity errors from this franchise
Yup Cyclops and Havoc are brothers….love your channel you always pay close attention to detail and notice things on your first time watching that a lot of other reactors don’t❤
Havoc is Scott’s (cyclops) older brother and Darwin literally cant die from that type of shit it’s the dumbest thing in this movie he literally adapts to EVERYTHING to survive Azazul is nightcrawler from X2 father
my biggest gripe with this movie is that DARWIN SHOULD NEVER HAVE DIED!! He is INSANLEY OP! Darwin has the power of "reactive evolution"; i.e., his body automatically adapts to any situation or environment he is placed in, allowing him to survive possibly anything; the exact nature and limits of his powers have not been revealed. He is literally an Omega level mutant
Yes, killing off Darwin was the dumbest thing this franchise ever did. Literally the one mutant whose ability was to NOT DIE. But like the MCU, it's a different universe from the comics so the writers are free to adjust the power levels and abilities of characters however they wish to fit the story they're telling. I still don't like it, but it is what it is...
41:40 In the comics Alex is Scott Summers younger brother. He joined the X-Men squad after Scott. But due to the screwed up timelines in the Fox X-Men series, they have Alex being the older brother and part of the first squad of X-Men.
The thing about the coin he told him to move at the beginning, if you look into history, those coins only had 5% iron, and 95% silver that's why it was so hard for him to move the coin.
Simon Kinberg proved that he can do a better job as a producer than as a writer In fact, he was the one who pitched Matthew Vaughn to direct this movie, after seeing KICK-ASS
Fun fact: This movie wasn't originally a prequel but a reboot that ignores X-Men 3 and Origins Wolverine but has a little continuity with the first two, however the sequel Days of Future Past retconned it into a prequel by confirming that this movie is set in the same timeline of the other movies. Even though that doesn't really make sense given how the continuity of this movie and the other ones don't really match up.
24:20, Hank is too smart to the point he is stupid. Raven is crazy about him and loved him for his mind and personality. In all of their scene she was giving him all those “Take me big papi” vibes. Yet he is so full of self loathing he can’t see it. Like an idiot he tells her she isn’t normally beautiful.
Havoc is cyclops his older brother, and yeah, the girl that mystique changed into on the bed was the original person who played mystique I just don’t know her name. The wolverine for 2013 is next can’t wait for your reaction keep up the great work and when you get two days of future past, make sure you watch the rogue cut version of the movie instead of the original

6:36 In the comics Sebastian Shaw heads a mutant group called The Hellfire Club. Its members are all super wealthy mutants. The male members dress like they are aristocrats from the late 1700’s. All of the female members basically wear what Emma Frost and Moira are wearing in this scene. How they got this past the censors back in the day is a trip.
@@de606returns6 Those people are ignorant. I cant imagine Disney making anything more than mindless and silly toy commercials with horrible dialogue like "I have famously huge turds." Nothing deep like Patrick Stewart's Professor X telling James McAvoys Prof X that he needs to find hope again.
That is the present day Mystique, Rebecca Romijn. Who is married to Jerry O'Connell the fat kid from Stand by Me who grew up to be Sydney's boyfriend in Scream II. And speaking of Dune the slow knife or coin penetrates the shield. Dune influences everything. Yes the timeline is screwed up in many way. Especially from the comics. The original team was Cyclops, Marvel Girl (Jean), Beast, Iceman and the real Angel (kid with the wings from X3). They were all teenagers together.
Shaw and them in the comics are called the hellfire club. Stranger things was heavily influenced by xmen comics. Eleven is inspired by the Phoenix saga
Find the 1974 film Missiles of October for a very good portrayal of the real events of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Freaking fantastic movie… very, very tense
I loved how you lost your shit when you saw Logan. By the way. Havoc Last name is SUMMERS. He's the older Brother of Scott Summers. AKA Cyclops. In the comics, He's the leader of another mutant team called X-Factor Another interesting note: In the comics. Havoc & Cyclops are completely immune to each others powers. Meaning both of them can take a full power blast from the other & be completely unharmed.
The death of Darwin angered a lot of people, because his power can handle exactly that. Hank is one of my favorite characters. What happened to him is an important lesson for marginalized groups. He could not accept himself, tried to modify his genes so he could "pass" and got exactly the opposite of what he wanted.
I don't know if this has already been said, but you seriously got to separate the original trilogy from this movie series. They make some loose connections, but the timeline (actual timing) and continuity will drive you crazy because they DO NOT FULLY match up. Different groups of people telling different stories. Take each series as a unit and make those connections within each one. I have enjoyed watching you go through this. This movie and the next are the best of all of them in my opinion.
Keep watching the series. All them questions from the beginning will be answered.also it’s never told in any movie. But nightcrawler is the kid of mystique and Azazil the red version of nightcrawler.
Yo Major- another banger! This is my favorite of the FOX X-Men movies by far. It does change some things from the comics (which being a different universe it's free to do, so I don't complain about that stuff like that) but unfortunately it conflicts with the original X-Men trilogy. Basically the writers of these movies with the younger cast didn't care too much about consistency with those earlier X-men films which occur later in the timeline. Killing Darwin off was a bad decision on the part of the writers/director, but the biggest problem is changing the past relationships. The whole Mystique/Raven being a close childhood friend of Charles Xavier doesn't match what we saw in the original trilogy. She sabatoged Cebero without any concern for Charles possibly being killed of suffering permanent brain damage. That Mystique we saw in those movies simply wasn't a friend of Xavier at all. Also, remember in X3 we saw Xavier and Magneto as middle-aged men visiting Jean Grey's parents to recruit her, and Charles was still walking, not in a wheelchair. But in this film we see Charles becoming paralyzed at least a decade earlier. It was also a terrible twist making Magneto the one whose mistake put Charles in the wheelchair, because that comic book storyline involved another major X-men villain who was linked to a couple of prominent X-characters, and the movie just tossed it all out. Still- great reaction, and next up.... Days of Future Past!
Magneto is the best anti-hero. His best line to Professor X was, “Make peace with the humans Charles?” “They can’t even make peace with themselves “. The rest of these movies are so frustrating. Mystique was NEVER a heroine. The thought of it is absolutely ridiculous. Tell about how she adopted Rogue and forced her to absorb Ms. Marvel’s powers. Rogue first appeared in Avengers Annual #10. She’s beating the snot out of Captain America.
Not sure if this has been pointed out to you before, but I just LOVE how mutants are a parallel to all discriminated people, because of race, sex orientation or whatever differences we can imagine. There's even a theory suggesting Professor X and Magneto were inspired by Dr. King and Malcolm X in their very different approaches to the same fight against discrimination.
Yes it's a popular theory, but it's false. Professor X and Magneto were created in the early 1960s by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, but Magneto's backstory wasn't rewritten to make him a Holocaust survivor and defender/protector of mutants against persecution by humans until the 1980s, when Chris Claremont started writing the series. Before that, Magneto was just another megalomaniac villain who believed mutants were superior to humans and should replace them. Magneto was originally a mass murderer who had no qualms about killing humans because he considered them inferior. That Magneto wasn't similar to Malcolm X, the parallels became more pronounced in later decades. And neither Professor Xavier nor his X-Men teams were ever non-violent, which was the single defining principle of Dr King's philosophy. Ultimately, Charles believed in co-existing with humans while Magneto believed in eliminating them. Yes, the treatment of mutants in X-Men comics has long been recognized as analagous to the treatment of minorities in the USA and other countries. Originally racial/ethnic minorities but over the decades that expanded to members of other religions, sexual orientations and gender identities etc- all marginalized groups.

This movie is one of the many reasons why I prefer the X-MEN over the MCU
This was absolute top 3 origins film. I don't agree with it over the MCU, but to each his own
The X-men movies vs the MCU is no contest my guy. It’s no fault of the X-Men, they just had shit writers
quit saying that
Basically from this movie forward, forget about how the other x men movies played out. This is like a restart of everything
Yes that was Rebecca Romijn the OG mystique as older Raven in the bedroom scene with Eric
Keep going, can't wait until you see Apocalypse.
One of my favorites!
I think next movie in the timeline is The Wolverine then Days of the Future Past
Next one and X2 are my faves
This is where mystique went to hell. The original will never been topped
This story telling is something special. ❤️🎥❤️
I think X-Men - Apocalypse is the best one.
And the Diamond girl was in Origins!!! It was Wolverine girlfriends sister
i was so mad yesterday. I went home to watch wolverine (AGAIN) but couldn't login to starz lol
U gonna love this one
Probably my fav one. X2 was but it's close.
This is after Origins and before XMen
