hi thanks for your nanodlp video. I am building a custom sla printer using a 1440x2560 lcd and a ramps board to control the z axis. I got everything working but I have a weird issue on the slicer. The lcd calibration grid shows correctly but the sliced images are longer on the y axis . What is it that I am doing wrong? thanks for your help

A few things seems to have changed in the last few weeks. The config.txt on the image I just downloaded (from the same site) was already configured with the options shown and the machine profiles looks alright out of the box as well. So that's nice.
If you want to set the wifi settings directly you can edit wpa_supplicant.conf.

This is excellent news. The process was clunky and hopefully that is no longer.

Hi Jim. I have a printer that works with MSLA technology and I use Nano DLP operating system. My work is jewelry, when I print a ring, it reduces the size of the ring in the z axis. I don't know the reason. Can you help me?

Your configuration profile does not work on my Wanhao D7 1.5. When clicking the down buttons on the z-axis it goes up, also it overshoots

When I flash the firmware the main fans slow down and it won’t connect to anycubic anymore, and never appeared on Nano

I can't seem to download the your D7 config file or your dynamic resin profiles. The links go there but when I click "I want this!" nothing seems to happen. And I'd like to get your config.txt file. Mine looks different from the video above the code you are adding so I don't know if that is causing an issue either.

when I tried to download the files, I couldn't leave the payment amount field empty, I have to type in 0, then it let me download.
I'm finally trying to install nanodlp, and also having issues. I managed to get it set up, responding to gcode, and able to monitor online, etc... but the screen won't display. currently trying to figure it out, and will post a comment if I come up with any more recent guidance.
I tried commenting out the extra GPU parameter (you get a double up is you just paste in the extra lines into the config file, because the newer version of nanodlp has more in the default config.txt) and tried a few different values for hdmi_mode (82 got an image to display on my tv, but didn't work when connected to the D7)...
unfortunately it's pretty hard to track down the actual issues.

Hi there, thanks for the helpful vids.
Quick question: has any of this information changed since you uploaded it?
It's difficult to even find out what version the latest firmware is.
I can't even figure out how to find the version installed on the printer...
Is there an official place to check for them? Because I've searched in vain...
Is there a 1.5 version firmware also?
Any help would be much appreciated.

I have a Photon and both the Motherboard and the Screen have gone out. Someone suggested converting it into a NanoDLP x Pi setup, rather than spend $150 for new parts. I haven't seen any builds like this. Any thoughts on if it's doable? And how easy/hard would it be? I'm a complete noob to programming and pi projects.

I think you "just" need to buy a good resolution LCD screen for the Raspberry Pi, rip the back and backlight off (since it's white, instead of UV) and use the UV light from the printer itself, if possible (You'll need to find a way to make the UV light work, multimeter and googling comes in handy for this). Then "just" hook the modded LCD to the RPi, download nanoDLP and calibrate it accordingly. Note: The LCD must obviously fit into the old display location, since you'll replace it with your own.
There are some YT vids about ripping the backlight off and using a custom light source to make an DLP printer.

im a complete noob who has just received a wanhao D8, im currently trying to find relevant info on how to get started etc.. it seems like the D8 will be fine just printing files transferred onto the usb stick ? is using a raspberry pi really only necessary for printing on D7 ? or is it a better option for printing on a D8 also ? and if so what are the main advantages of doing so ?

I was wondering if you can use those readily available UV curing crafting resins in those machines. are the material properties drastically different to dlp/sla specific uv resins?

    • @TeachingTech

I haven't used those resins. Can you post a link?

I think I oversold the availability of said crafting resins. I couldn't find a brick and mortar store in Sydney that carried any. my bad, hahaha. A quick search on ebay got me this www.ebay.com/itm/60-100-200g-DIY-UV-Ultraviolet-Resin-Curing-Solar-Cure-Sunlight-Activated-Hard-/282798027113
Love the content by the way. I still have to go through all your videos. I especially love the cocoon create vids. More power to ya!

Hi Erik, The DLP machines have low light energy compared to laser based SLA machines. This means unless you use something like monocyte rapid, each layer takes a long time to cure. The resin you linked might be quick or slow to cure, it's hard to know without testing. At $10 per 100g, it's more expensive than buying monocyte in bulk, so probably not worth trying. www.monocure3d.com.au It would be interesting to try monocure in the ways slow in the eBay listing however.

How does a printer ship with such show stopping flaws?

    • @TeachingTech
      @TeachingTech  6 лет назад

Not sure what you mean. This is a 3rd party software option, so documentation could be improved. Once running I find the software excellent and I also highly rate the responsiveness of the developer.

Wanhao needs a video source to project the slices. This is the computer (no good) or the Pi with this software. I think it is a better solution than a PC. I went with the Anycubic Photon because it is stand-alone and the same price as the Wanhao. I'll give this a try if I can pull off a larger DLP resin printer of my own design 😜

My D7 configuration profile (free download): gum.co/KCihw
My dynamic resin profiles (free download): gum.co/ycqED
Then I pay to download them!

Read the screen on the link carefully again. It says you can name your price, the default is zero = free.
One or two have chosen to pay a couple of dollars as a gesture of thanks but that is their choice.
