To be honest, this is the best option for DIY laptop cooling pad i've ever seen! The best part is that it has external DC atdaptor that is really nice for home use cause it doesnt use USB port. However i think the noise from the fans are gonna be really loud. Although if you have really hot laptop, this can be a life saver! I wish the author wud make more "noise friendly" variations of this cooler, cause i think for modern laptops one or two fans are more than enough if they are placed cleverly =) Anywyas, thanks for video!
to be honest, i would make it noisy, the faster the fan is, the more RPM it will be, this right here, is a fantastic way for me to actually to make a homeade laptop cooling pad i would have noise to it. less than 2000 or even 1000 RPM isn't good to be fair.
Could you maybe run something that usually heats up your laptop and then show us the laptop temperature without the cooling pad and with it so we can see it's effectiveness? That would be a huge help. Regardless, awesome work and craftsmanship.
DIY but not quite Low Budget , this actually a Legit craft/manufacture , for anyone who try to customized their desk to look more Steam Punk , this awesome for basic .
i have one that i build also for my self, but a single fan running at 12V directly plugged to DC..its working fine and its kinda big not like that. Im planning to add switch maybe.
༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ I purchased 2 80mm fans and a mesh screen with stand that can hold a 17" screen and it was all for less than $20. Has better output for airflow and customized accordingly to where the bottom laptop intake are located. Personal findings is that it lowered my temps of up to 10-17C on extreme gaming sessions. Compared to thermaltake laptop cooler i used to own, maybe 1-2C cooler but all other laptop coolers do is create more room for intake of laptop to breathe.
I am wondering, with a laptop that has fan exhausts at the bottom, what is the point of blowing air against these exhausts? Woulsn`t it make sense to actually help suck the hot air off the chassis? Just saying, I have never used a cooling pad and maybe you know better...
I don't think fans exhaust through the bottom. They intake air from that portion instead, and blow it off from the sides/back. This present arrangement of fans blasting air towards the bottom of the laptop would bring the overall temp down.
@@laypyu Maybe, it depends on the construction I guess, I have an MSI with fan grill above the keyboard (looks like speaker set) and bottom, was not really checking which is an intake. Have also seen a Louis Rossman video featuring a Macbook with fans engineered so that they would be cooling literally nothing.
@@liszcgsedt Yea, true that. Different models might have different vent channeling. I have seen them. But the ones I had from Asus, Acer and HP had intake from the bottom and blasting through the sides and back. My present Asus additionally vents through the keyboard as well, making it very hot and pretty uncomfortable while gaming, or doing something heavy.
Cooling pads don't do anything, unless u buy a really expensive one, and even that will only drop ur CPU temp by maybe 5ºC tops. It's the lights and the design ur buying in the end. They all suck at cooling pretty much. I'd like to know if this one is different, it has more fans anyway...I mean it is a cool build, but does it actually cool the CPU?
In case you didnt know. EVERY last USB powered laptop cooler sucks. Which is all of them. There isnt enough power in a USB port to drive case fans at full speed so they just barely move any air at all. Its best to make your own with real desktop fans and power it with a 12v adapter. The store bought one did absolutely jack shitty to cool my gaming laptop. MY home made one keeps me under 85.
Do you think it is reasonable and practical to use 6 fans to cool a laptop. I will not make and use this cooler, the steel brackets may scratch the laptop. The underside of the laptop is too close to the fans, thus unable to create larege air flow to carry away heat.
@@dloc116 5v wouldn't really be enough considering you would use multiple fans which have to share the power. Laptop fans cool the cpu with copper tubes, so heat transfer will be efective, cooling pads on the other hand is just blowing fresh air into ur laptop which is no where near being able to cool a cpu or any sorts of gpu
The internal fan cools your *CPU* (and GPU) and the cooling pad cools your *FAN* not CPU. So you *must replace it, neither way your pc CPU will burn and die, then all the pc dies.
@@kojakaofficiel Actually, assuming the laptop cooling fan intake is on the bottom of the laptop (as most are) the cooling pad helps by increasing the airflow through the heat sync in the laptop. The more air you can move through your heat sync per second the more heat energy it can dump per second and thus the cooler it will keep your CPU and GPU. It has the added benefit of cooling other parts of your laptop too like the fans and the case in general, but these effects are minor compared to the increase in airflow through the heat sync, that part is most important. If the fan intake is not on the bottom for whatever reason then a cooling pad won't do much.
