    This is by far the BEST video I've watched about clipping/grooming a doodle's face/head. EARS - YES. Please let me know where to find a tutorial on plucking the ear hair. My dogs love to swim and it's imperative that their ears are clean from extra hair so they dry out. I also love how you've clipped the dogs legs/feet! Very few grooms get that right. : )

    I'm curious how her ears were trimmed prior to your face/head trim. My doodle has very long hair on his ears and I would like to clip it shorter. Can I just use the clippers to shorten it with a 1inch comb attachment?

  • @liliejorgensen1490
    @liliejorgensen1490 4 месяца назад

    Something i would advise not to do especially for inexperienced groomers is to try not to bounce around with your scissors, use your fingers at any time possible to protect parts that are easy to cut especially if you are bouncing your hands around

    • @liliejorgensen1490
      @liliejorgensen1490 4 месяца назад

      Nose, eyelids, lips, ears (which she showed beautifully) and especially the neck folds hold the skin taut by stretching the skin to lay flat while you are cutting that area.

    • @liliejorgensen1490
      @liliejorgensen1490 4 месяца назад

      Step back and be sure that you are creating the shape you want, the muzzle from the front, the cheeks to the top of the head, and from the side should all be cohesive enough. Always be using your greyhound comb (the straight metal toothed comb) to fluff the hair out and then down how the hair naturally lays.

    I purchased expensive straight, curved and thinning shears. The straight shears are dull, and the thinning shears has really preformed like the shears you use in your video. The thinning shears I use, doesn’t do anything but pull the hair and certainly does not move freely like yours does. HELP

  • @aubrylong4920

    I’m a pretty new groomer and we get people in requesting all different haircuts for doodles. The breeders tell them how it should be cut or they find things online. We always tell them it’s completely up to them and their preference for how they want their dog to look. So just curious why is there such confusion for what it’s definitely supposed to look like and why are people being told so many different things for doodles?

    • @BigRockLabradoodles
      @BigRockLabradoodles  2 года назад +1

      Hi there! Gosh, I wish I could answer that!! Not all breeders are created equal. Not all breeders are real breeders! Unfortunately, so many "doodle" breeders are just in it for the quick money. There is definitely a "breed standard" among ALAA and WALA, but, outside of that, no. I have recorded grooming videos on what I call the "Big Rock Look", but to my best awareness, this is the "look" that ALL Australian Labradoodles should have!! The goal is a diamond shaped head (long on top, allowing a natural part, ears long in front, and groomed to the leather in back and bottom third of front, blended into a pointed long beard). For better reference, please watch my videos!! Any" breeder" not recommending this, is not a true breeder of Australian Labradoodles. Furthermore, those of us invested in this breed are very much promoting that they be groomed every 6-8 weeks, with a daily light brushing, plus a weekly DEEP brushing. You CANNOT get a Doodle and expect to not brush them! That is utter foolishness!!
