Ole knows a ton about print designs and is a master in employing fantastic designs in very small sizes. It wiped the floor here with some very heavy hitters. Ole is a good friend of mine. And what ever Ole makes. Just sounds fantastic. His riaa and power amps are killer to. Very fast and agile. Lots of dynamics and ocean's of detail's with no edge's. I would hold the 07se up against any big hyped solid state brand's costing teen times as much.

What a fabulous dac. Ole is a gem of a human and you Mikey deserve this kind of product. The build/integrity/value ratio is outrageous. Everybody get over to eleven stereo and hit Mikey up for this dac if natural, non fatiguing, and ease are your diggity. Companies who build like this deserve the support because let's face it, they deliver a superior product at a very reasonable cost. When the music is flowing and the lights are down, sonics rule the roost.
Now wher'd i put that damn pick? he he he.

2:01 The DAC 07 is not completely identical to DAC08. The differences, when I talked to Ole himself, should be the DAC08 have premium WBT connectors and more espensive audiograde capacitors - as you also tell us later in the video (8:24). Thats actually makes a difference in sound. A more equal comparison will be DAC07 SE vs. DAC08, as Ole also told me. They have the same WBT connectors, and capacitors should be the best from ELNA (DAC08) and Nichicon (DAC07 SE), so its just a matter of taste in sound what to prefer. I have owned both DAC07 and DAC07 SE, but even the SE version should be a better dac, I find the standard 07 more varm and analogue sounding for my taste. So that was the one I chose to keep :)

    • @OCDHIFiGuy

The CIRCUIT is identical my friend. Only upgraded PARTS. That was what I said... I think the DAC 07 is the best value !!

These are using Burr Brown chips. Not comparable in the spec war. They don't have enough zeros behind the decimal point for their THD+N. However, the cleanest measured output, in my experience, does not translate to sonic gratification. Measurements do not matter because they don't tell you how it sounds. If there is one thing I can tell you, again from my experience, is that Burr Brown chips have always sounded fantastic in a good implementation. Whatever the Japanese engineers were doing decades ago got the sound right to my ears. The current chip designers I think have lost the plot to their marketing departments.

I can help here. I had the Gustard R26. It is a very fine DAC. Comparable with all the others you mentioned, if reviewers and user opinions are to be believed. The NewOnTech DAC 07SE is clearly above all those DACs. It is stupendously good. It "only" costs $4500 if bought directly from Ole. It is that "cheap" because of direct-sale. There is virtually no marketing and very little distribution happening. Ole makes the DACs by himself by hand.

I picked up a used Amber 3, bypassed the crappy, I believe it is a Jupiter cap, with VHAudio's amazing ODAM, and CuTF V-Caps, got an adapter to go from a 12AU7 to a 6SN7, and now it's quite the little DAC.

Brother, this is a hifi channel. Mikey brings hifi gear that is a great value, but you aren’t getting a hifi system for $2k; that is simply ridiculous. You can also get a car that drives for $2k, but it’s never going to compete with a Ferrari, and it would be crazy to criticize Ferrari for not making their car cheaper because a $2k car exists.

Best dac is the same it has been since the 80s tda1541. I even prefer it to a 10k weiss dac.
