Paying for the metal card up front will cost you £150 (12.5 per month). As long as you can cover 12.50 in cash back you are essentially getting free travel & mobile insurance, as well as airport lounge access. Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Amazon and justeat cover this cost for me each month. 👍

    • @BeCleverWithYourCash

Thanks Sean. Though you could earn that cashback elsewhere (and more) without the fee, so it's still an extra cost to upgrade.

You hat that too, when you select Tesco and IKEA for example. Also you can use the time back when you maxed out your cashback limit on one card. Charge it on another and then go back in time to hour first card when your limit resets. I hope that helps ;)

Speaking of paying off a credit card.
I am 17, so not that well educated on the process, but how does one go about paying off a credit card?
Do you make a purchase from the credit card and then manually send the money from the debit card to pay it off or can set it up automatically?
So when you do make a purchase from your credit card, your debit card will automatically send money to pay it off?

Nice review, Andy. I just got a Curve Blue Card. Have a question about ATM withdrawals...if you link your Monzo debit card, which has a £200 limit per month on free ATM cash withdrawals, to your Curve debit card, can you effectively take out over £200 a month for free without incurring a fee? Everywhere seems to be going cashless nowadays anyway so doubt most people will need to withdraw more than £200 a month, but just wondering if you do then will Curve effectively nullify the free ATM withdrawal limits of the cards you add to it?
    Cheers!

Hi Eric. Great questions! Sadly I don't know. It might be worth asking on Curve's help desk how they class the passed on ATM transaction. If Monzo see it as a cash withdrawal it'll likely count towards the limits. Let me know what you find out

@@BeCleverWithYourCash From what I have read it won't work because Curve will send over a code to tell your bank that you are withdrawing cash from an ATM. However, if you are in a country where Curve supports the currency, you can get around the Curve ATM limit of £200 if you have an account with higher or no withdrawal limits like Starling by setting the card currency to the local one.

Do I understand it right. So if I go to Sainsbury's and I spend £100 and use a nectar card, and then I pay with a Curve card that is then going to pull the money from Tesco Credit card. Am I going to get 100 points on nectar, 1£ cashback on the Curve, and 16 points with Tesco Clubcard?
    Is that actually allowed?
    Cheers

    • @BeCleverWithYourCash
      @BeCleverWithYourCash  3 года назад +1

      Hi Jakub.
Yes, so if you swipe your separate nectar card you'll get your points for that (same as if you had a Tesco Clubcard etc).
Then when you pay with Curve you'll get your selected cashback (for how long you get this depends on the card you have).
And if the underlying card is a cashback or reward credit card offering money or points back on each spend regardless of the shop (like your Tesco Clubcard one) you'll earn the points through that too.
What you won't get from the underlying payment card are any store specific offers (eg my Natwest Reward account is offering 10% back at Morrisons at the moment).

      How about Tesco credit card.
Let's say I use my Curve at the ATM to withdraw 200£ daily, and charge my Tesco credit card.
I presume I can get the cash with NO fees then from either Tesco and Curve this way. Tesco Credit card would see it as a payment to Curve merchant I suppose.
If I then go and deposit that to my current account and transfer it back to Tesco credit card, can I this way boost my credit score?
that is £4000-6000 in a month of IN and OUT payments on my Tesco Bank statement...
Would this be viewed as some fraud and could I get in trouble for this?

It's actually the opposite! If you lost the Curve card you can quickly cancel that card so it can't be used - and if they did spend on it they'd only be able to take money from the card you last set to connect.
But you'd still have all your underlying cards at home, so you could use them as standard while you wait for the new Curve card to come.
