The class 86 and 87s were magnificent

class 47's were good as well - used to haul XC trains to Bournemouth from Edinburgh / Glasgow via Birmingham New Street (From BNS change over from class 86/87)

That humming sound on the class 86/87 is strangely nostalgic even though the last of these were withdrawn before I was born, possibly the Pendolino’s motor sounding like a downgraded version of it

Stafford station W.C.M.L. good old class 86's in Intercity livery, Intercity to the early virgin livery. Intro of Virgin's smart new Voyager diesel 222's

Ah 2002. The good old days of baggy jeans, nu-metal and loco haulage on the WCML. Good times!

Proper trains! Not like these awful noisy and cramped units we have now. I guess it was around this time that things started to go downhill with the arrival of the voyager and the pendolinos. I'm not dead set against units though. I actually quite like desiros... Smooth ride, spacious interior, good view out, and very swift.

Superb video, I’m curious to know where the FNW 150 was going though, 175 substitute to new street?
