- This is a short video on the harbor freight portable air compressor. I’ve been using this for a while now and it’s still going strong. Very pleased with this and it comes in very handy.
perfect, didn't inundate us with a ten min. long story on his in-law's flat tire tragedy was the inspiration to acquire said device, we learned the method of trouble free use, heard it's working noise and his endorsement.
A guy is full of s*** I'm on my second one and if you try to fill a tire up with only 20 lbs in there it won't fill it up things are junk you must be from Harbor Freight
Short and sweet? Yes indeed. No need to apologize for that, in fact, it’s very much appreciated. Thanks.
Good choice! I just picked up one after watching Project Farm RUclips channel!! Thanks for confirming video. 👍👍
Now that’s a handy gadget to have for your car! Thank you for sharing this about reading the directions first before you just gotta try it because it looks so simple to use until you blow a fuse! I am sure your wife appreciates you taking care of her car tires!👍
Seems like and ass backwards setup. Wonder if it works with a push-on type inflator valve.
Your wife's camera skills are FANTASTIC. It showed the viewers everything that we needed to see. Thank you.
Thanks for letting us know why to turn it on first before attaching the hose to the valve stem.👍
Had mine for over 6 yrs and its a mighty very well made air pump! Instructions clearly states that the "pump must be turned ON first before attaching it and once finished airing the tyre (while still ON, reverse the process) detached it and THEN turn OFF the air pump! This WILL avoid blowing any fuse!
After all this yrs the only thing that failed was the cheap vinyl hose that broke where it snaps into the connector. So i got a black 3/16" fuel hose that i already had (new) 14" long and removed the connector fittings, attached the new hose to the old fittings and it went in snugged (no clamps needed to hold it). Bought better snap end brass connectors (where it connects to the tyre valve stem) from amazon and now i have a pump that will last more yrs, durable and with a better premium air hose/connector!
U was going to buy one today but like most of us we come to utube for info. Thank u. Short brief n to the point.
My Avid "120 psi" 20v portable air pump stalled and started smoking while trying to inflate my 60 psi spare tire. I picked up this unit from harbor freight today and it did well. After topping up four tires and the spare it was just starting to get warm. I hope to get some years out of it. I bought a separate bag to keep it and a plug kit handy. I may put the jump starter in there too when I receive it.
I realize I am a few years late. Just purchased mine today for the wifes car for emergency. SUPER video, great tip on starting the pump 1st. Well done Popo. Have a great Navy Day!
Great pump! I purchased one for off roading I like to air down to 15psi but have to drive 40 miles on the highway to the closest trailhead. If you own this pump or plan to buy one make sure you Oi͏l the pump regularly it even says so in the manual. I keep a bottle of air tool oil in the bag with it and just like an air tool I add a couple drops before every use.
This was very helpful!!! I didn’t know how to attach the hose until I saw your video! Thank you!!
Well, I am glad I was not the only one with the attachment problem! I thought I had a part missing! (I have only been pumping up tires for 50 yrs. lol)
Mine lasted 2 yrs and stopped pumping air. Motor runs. I took it apart, cleaned, greased etc and still not pumping air. Never blew a fuse and used it 5 to 10 times a year. I really like it and it is built tougher than all other pumps.
Same issue
Excellent video for being done in reverse order. Also very good information on the pump.
Just got one similar to this one Im glad you told about turning on THEN hooking up the hose
Thank You for this video. The instructions that come with this pump are contradictory and confusing. Have a blessed life!
Thanks for the video. I'm heading out to get a couple soon. No need to apologize for the wife's camera work. She did a fine job, and you're blessed to have a wife who's willing to help you out. Cheers!
I’ve been using this same one for over 4 years and it’s still going strong. “Knock on wood”
Many thanks for your review. With your video, all your information, tips, plus the feedback from common sense comments below, I feel much more confident that I can succeed in the usage of this inflator which I have kept for some years and I never used it. thank again. Regards from FL.
Thanks for this great review - 2 minutes now tells me the best tire pump deal out there.
Glad you have one that continues to work. Everyone needs to understand these are cheap and shouldn’t be expected to last forever. I have had several and they are basic pumps with a dc motor, a 12 volt relay, a 12 volt switch, and a fuse going to the battery. The contact points get carbon build up and can be repaired/cleaned but if you get a good one that works for a long time, you are lucky 🍀. If it breaks, Go buy another and be happy you had it when it worked! Relays cost $5 or so, switches, about the same, fuses are cheap. An hour of time repairing one just isn’t worth it. Thanks for sharing!
Byron Eckhart Un like most tire inflators made with a plastic piston/connecting rod and rubber o-ring this pump has a aluminum piston/connecting rod with a metal compression ring and a hardened steel cylinder sleeve. with regular oiling I plan to get many years of use out of mine.
Nice information dude. You actually saved people a headache. My old compressor in the garage keeps blowing fuses.
I bought one of these, read the directions, and it worked with no problems. I know other guys might make fun of me, but I'm thinking about reading the directions when I buy other stuff.
Great, short, no BS review and how-to. Thanks!
I have one of these in each car along with a tire plug kit. I've lost count of how many times I've plugged tires and filled them with this pump. Afew observations. First, the instructions (mine at least) actually say to turn the pump on first before attaching it to the valve stem so you don't blow a fuse. Second, I run the car when I have the pump running so I don't kill the battery. Third, don't believe the gauge. Keep an accurate gauge with you. Mine reads high by a few pounds. The best thing about this pump is that it's just a pump. No fancy microcontrollers telling it to shut off. My only complaints are the non-standard quick-disconnect and the flimsy coiled hose which develops pinholes over time. Some day I'll get around to modding it with a decent QD and a better hose.
Thanks for making a video, clear description about how to properly use this compressor
I just bought one today after watching Project Farm ( Great channel by the way) compare air pumps. You probably saved me a lot of headaches with the tip about turning it on first...it is kinda counterintuitive since once is on ....you have to fight air pressure to get the attachment on to the valve ( more than if it was off.) I'll let you know what damaged I caused if I survive.Thanks.
Appreciate the steps in detail. I was looking to buy this as its suppose to be rather durable. Definitely would've plugged it into tire 1st and blown a fuse. Mental note taken. Turn the pump on and then screw into tire valve. 👍👊
I have had mine for over seven years with no trouble until the hose wore out. I will get a replacement hose for my faithful tool. No need for quarters at the gas station assuming you can get there.
I feel so stupid not knowing it just screwed into the valve stem thank you man for this video
Z
Zdx 6 try, fry
CV cc Cc CV ugh DC
I appreciate this video, we couldn't figure for the life of us how what the other end connectors were for would've never thought to just screw the end on to the tire
Bought mine yesterday July-2024 ,used it , should have read the directions 🥸, but it works fine, thanks for no stupid music 🎶 ah
I've got something similar I bought at Autozone. Made by Slime. You can't run it more than 10 minutes with smelling burnt. Not to mention it won't put more than about 35lbs in a tire.
Good video,,,,,,, one thing, you can connect the hose to the tire first. and then connect the air coupler on the pump while it is running,,,,,,,,,, So there is no back pressure and you won't blow fuses! I've done this for years with many different ones,,,,,,,,,, thanks again!
It's a nice little air compressor but the hose lasted 1 yr. in trunk of vehicle and a new hose is more expensive than the compressor. I would recommend staying away from the bright 1/4" air hoses. they don't like heat nor sunlight. Also, the dutton quick connector is not available in the USA. It's now 6 yrs old and still runs but does not have an air hose.
Concise and clear instructions thanks for the video watched it before filling up my gf tire 👍🏻
hey great job don't apologize for repeating yourself some people need the instructions instead of the useless chatter keep up the good work
Thx for this honest & straighforward review. Convinced me!
Nice review. And your wife did a fine job with that camera :-) !
Thanks for the review and the tip on the fuse! 👍
thanks for the tip I have blown fuses before now i understand why thanks. then the wires close to the machine were stripped so i took the 2 screws out retaped the wires but it won't go back on. I went back bought another one with a 2year replacement for 11.00. these are much nicer then the auto parts store selection .
Very good presentation and information
Glad to see back
Thanks for the heads up on starting it first - good info!
I just picked one up at an estate sale today. The owner wrote down date, place and price of purchase in the manual. 😊 Hose is brittle and crumbling, which makes sense since he bought it in 2008! Thought I'd just replace it b/c it doesn't even appear to have been used. Looking for replacement hose now. Manual says 5/16" diameter, but appears to be 1/4 (outer); and am only finding 1/4 & 3/8 in hoses. So I think I'm safe getting the 1/4" hose. Any suggestions? The descr. imprint on the hose is too blurred to read... thanks!! 😊🤙
Tractor supply Sells a great 2 gallon mini air compressor. $69.00. I put a 1500 watt inverter in my rig to run it. About $80.00.I can run a real air compressor hose with it. It's great for off road vehicles. I might pick up one of those for my car. Great review and video.
I have one like this for each vehicle. They pop fuses. They could improve the product by including a small supply of the correct fuses.
which fuse? the compressor fuse or the car fuse?
Do you turn on the compressor before connecting to the valve, like the instructions say?
good work on your video buddy, I likw it, not like others videos you waste time, you went to the point and give good necessary information. keep it up
Thanks I kept reading reviews of ppl saying portable air compressors aren't worth it because they blow fuses. I'm definitely picking one Up now!
It's not a bad little compressor for the price, quiet, fills my 33x12.50x16.5 tires from flat to fifty lbs in about ten minutes. The weak spot is the wrist pin for the piston. They break,The last two I bought had the same malfunction.
Thanks for the tip, about blowing a fuse. Obviously you have tire issues or you wouldn't need it. And then to blow a fuse to compound things. Thanks again. I haven't bought one yet.
Thanks! This review helped a lot I'm going on a road trip gonna buy one now just in case. Thanks again. Ohhh.. your wife video skills are good btw.
Which fuse can be blown? The one inside the car or inside the pump? Also if you connect the pump via the clamps to the battery, do you still need to have your engine running before turning on the pump? Many thanks
It also tells you on the manual for some air pumps to turn it on then plug it into the valve. Atleast mine did when I read it and it's been helpful since.
Thanks brother. I'm going to go to Harbor Freight and buy one today
Thanks for showing how to use it properly. I do the opposite plug to tire and turn on. I do my shopping at freight harbor. I plan on buying one.
Point of the video is @2:31
Thanks for the GREAT! Review keep em' coming!
Good review ! Thanks for the heads up on the fuse issue !
Bought a similar but larger one years ago at HF. Mine has battery clips and a 30 a fuse in line. Definitely not able to run from the 12v power point.
Thank you . Greetings from West Wales
Thanks this makes sense I was doing this wrong hopefully it will start working again if not I will purchase another one
Thanks for the review. I know what to get now.
Thanks for the review.😎
Thank you so much. You helped me today!
This video really helped me. Thank you
Thank you, this is big help!
Thank you! This helps. I think I'll go for a little more heavy duty. 👍
Nice! Thanks for the heads up!
Great review!!
hey hey
love your sentence
"sorry about wife's camera skill"
MrNams Haha!
Very good pump...love mine
Good job on the video.
They are $29.99 with coupon. Thank you for the presentation.
Great little pump except when the yellow hose crumbles.3-4 years later. It can easily be fixed with clear vinyl tube from home depot 3/16id x 5/16 od.
Key piece missing. I’m trying to attach the yellow hose to pump and it won’t stay. My husband packed this in my car for me a while back but did not put instructions in the bag….can’t reach him at work🤦🏼♀️😂😂
Thank you for the helpful video.
Great review, thanks!
great review
Thanks for the video. Can something be attached to that to turn it into an air blower or duster? I maintain old typewriters and looking for something to blow the dust out. The air pump feature for tires a big plus!
Excellent tip boss man!!!!
Really good. Thanks!
PS. Remove clean filter & few drops oil after every 10 uses, then noTakeAcRap". 😊
Very helpful. Appreciate it.
Good video review, Simple and to the point. May pick one up this weekend. What size truck tire do you air up? Mine take 40 psi, but just wanting something to top off every now and then, especially with the weather temps fluctuating .
hulksmash865 my tires are 35x12.50. Like I said, it’s not the fastest in the world but it’s a lot better than having to find an air station somewhere lol
@@PoposWoodworks When I don't plan on using the air station, it's never busy - however, almost everytime I want or need to use it, it's busy, lol. So I'm looking for something to use and not pay each time I use it, lol.
great buy
They had a much better bag for 10.oo. I got one. I also got The 150 PSI w the alligator clips for batteries, ( FOR CARS & TRUCKS THAT DONT HAVE AUX, MINE IS FAST AND I'VE NEVER HAD A FUSE BLOW AND I'VE USED IT BOTH WAYS SIX WAYS TO SUNDAY. MINE is / was 75.oo SURE IT'S AN UPGRADE BOUGHT IT IN 2024
Hell yeah 🤘🏼🏁
Great video I’m getting one today
I'm fixing to go get one!
Very much obliged Sir/Madam😇🙏👏
Good pump!! And its fast on car tires
Does Harbour Freight have a chick for this compressor so it can be used on duel RV tires. The screw on connector won't work on my RV.
Thank you!
perfect ! thanks bro !
I dont suppose it can actually hit 120psi? Im wanting to use it to fill an airtank rather than tires.
Wife's camera skills! :)
Did the compressor come with the fitting at the end of the hose, where you screw it onto the tire valve? I purchased this compressor and it is missing that fitting. :(
MT Mankowski yeah mine came with everything. I’d take it back and swap it out
Thanks just picked this guy up
Got this and it lasted years. The wire wasted away and the thing shorted out before the gears broke. (Blew the fuse in the cigarette lighter)
thnx sir man u i just buy one and i almost did that mistake but now hell naa .. thanks to you and god first ... thanks man 🌹 hi from iraq .. God bless ✌️😄🌹
Thanks !
Thanks.
