I want to help people build but I came back to Savannah and got kind of stuck. Muffler rusted off lol. Come spend a day here between Charleston and Florida. We have three buses here (I'm the only one living in mine right now) trying to turn this into a compound hehe.

Caleb, about the batteries. LiFePO4 cells are fully charged at 3.65 volts per cell. In 8s configuration, that would be 29.2 volts, however, the voltage on the charge/ discharge curve drops off very fast at the top and bottom, and voltage is very flat through much of the discharge curve. So it's not easy to gauge state of charge by the voltage. Also for longevity, I think your battery management system will stop charging somewhere between 14 and 14.6 per battery or 28 to 29.2 in series, as this type of battery will last longer if run between 85 to 90 percent and 15 to 20 percent. The cell voltages should range between 3.2 and 3.65. I added a victron smart shunt to our battery bank for determining state of charge based upon the actual current flow measurements. It's really important for LiFePO4 cells not to try to use them when dead, but the battery management system should cut the circuit out if a cell goes below low voltage setting, which is 12.8 or 3.2v per cell. And they'll be damaged if charging when temp is below freezing 32f/0c The BMS in that battery may not be userb manageable.

Dude. I am going to be calling on you for help. I just finished other projects and now turning to focus on my 2006 Freight liner. All seats are pulled. Next is yanking the H Lift out AND the AC units ….

I appreciate the bus "lived in view"!!!
I hope you post update videos of your trip over the holidays. My family made a similar trip back in the day and it would be cool for you to share, just for the sake of the trip. The family part wasn't the best, but i remember the trip its self being worth the BS

Pretty awesome stuff congrats on finishing and moving in! If I decide in our build I need a hand (like underbody storage) I'd pick you to help us definitely. We got our bus end of October and I should be done with demo in the next week, then on to rust repair/mitigation. We're in central Ohio so not too far away from Nashville. You being into cars in Nashville, we might even know some of the same people since I spent a lot of time with the Import Alliance guys back circa 2010ish.

So happy for you Caleb! Wishing you a Merry Christmas 🎁! I’m still disappointed in myself that I couldn’t get together to work on our bus. The guy, Steve G. above is someone different by the way.

Nice build. Take this from an older person, but driving like that as a father of 2 young children may not be super responsible.
