- Lata Mangeshkar, voice of the country, Bharat Ratna, song empress passed away today. He breathed his last at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai this morning. His body was cremated this evening in Mumbai's Shivaji Park Maidan with full state rites. Thousands of people flocked to the Shivaji Park area to pay their last farewell to Latadidi. In a very mournful atmosphere, he was bid farewell by his father-in-law Nayan.
देशाचा आवाज, भारतरत्न, गानसम्राज्ञी लता मंगेशकर यांचं आज निधन झालं. त्यांनी आज सकाळी मुंबईच्या ब्रीच कँडी रुग्णालयात अखेरचा श्वास घेतला. त्यांच्या पार्थिवावर आज संध्याकाळी मुंबईच्या शिवाजी पार्क मैदानात शासकीय इतमामात अंत्यसंस्कार करण्यात आले. लतादीदींना अखेरचा निरोप देण्यासाठी शिवाजी पार्क परिसरात हजारोंचा जनसागर लोटला होता. प्रचंड शोकाकुल वातावरणात साश्रू नयनांनी त्यांना अखेरचा निरोप देण्यात आला.

I used to see her at Siddhi Vinayaka temple during my college days as I used to stay close to the temple &once I briefly met her just to wish her at Mumbai airport.As she got down from the car i dared to go up to her without any hesitation though she had a mild mannered gunman beside her !
