    Man, what a great track! Gives me all sorts of early 2000s glitch vibes, really nice!
    Hearing you so excited about this I’m thinking, maybe I need to rethink my attitude towards the elektron stuff? I was never really tempted by the different demos and jams, the workflow just seems so confusing to me in a “don’t wanna deal with that” way? Modular is also confusing, but the mad scientist in me really wants to understand it. But with this I feel like the learning curve would make me deal with things I’d rather avoid? Not sure whether this makes sense 😅

    • @SlowHaste
      @SlowHaste  3 года назад +1

      Yo thanks so much!! Yeah I definitely know what you mean. I had a hard time with elektron stuff the first time I tried it out, and it definitely takes a lot of focus. I think having a general knowledge of sequencing and song structure really puts the user at a good advantage, but they’re also good devices to learn with and grow into - they’re certainly very capable! Modular is… a different story hahah. I’ve found that I’m able to be more productive with the elektron devices, but the flexibility and sound design capabilities of modular is unparalleled IMO!

    • @LillySchwartz
      @LillySchwartz 3 года назад

      @@SlowHaste Modular certainly is a beast to make manageable because there are so many options! I find that doing the 3 module challenge over and over is slowly getting me to a point where I don’t have to patch and repatch for 10 minutes before I actually manage to do what I had in mind! And whenever I find something interesting along the way I just record it to use later in the DAW as the basis for a track. For me it’s amazingly productive in generating ideas. I know what you mean though, whole tracks turn into so much spaghetti, there is no quick re-routing etc, no easy way to make drops. Very challenging! I imagine that even with the weird workflow the elektron devices are easier to manage for whole compositions!

  • @G4Nazarener
    @G4Nazarener Год назад +1

    I like this combo, but Digitone and Syntakt seems more promising to me. I prefer making sounds instead of searching samples. Actually I am thinking about a setup of Digitone; Syntakt and MiniFreak. Another option could include a Keystep 37 instead the MiniFreak in favor of the sequencer features provided by the Keystep.i have a Roland SH01 & SE02 which could be included via the Digitone. I like it slim but on the other hand I like the direct access and overview to the involved sound engines.

    I have enjoyed using my Elektron A4/Octatrack with Roland TB03 and OP-1 combo but still organizing things since I got into modular/eurorack synths and have a large modular setup now. For me getting the right studio monitors and audio interfaces to work with the right mixers and recorders that cooperate with popular DAWs is the real challenge. I like your combo of Digitakt/Digitone with Keystep. I looked at Digitakt and tried one out but after borrow a friend's Rytm MK2 the Rytm is way better sounding and has nicer pads for creating beats. But for small footprint your combo wins.

      @@SlowHaste Yeah coming from a programming background, the idea of using a mouse for any significant amount of work in a DAW is pretty nauseating. I've been watching a ton of content about the elektron workflow on the digitakt and it looks insanely powerful (with the obvious limitations).
      Overbridge seems perfect for getting the audio into a DAW for finishing, and the fact that you can midi map pretty much anything from the elektron devices to DAW controls is tantalizing.
      I'm trying to avoid GAS, and the digitakt/digitone combination looks flexible enough to cover pretty much all of my needs. I already have some other gear from my dj setup that I can incorporate into a dawless setup.
