@@EdStopMotion yea that’s what I was thinking because nephew said 80% reduction in the beginning of the video when he was explaining modern controls lol.
Playing ryu on modern is definitely the way. I switched to modern and the reduction on mental stack is huge. The simplified control also lets me just focus more on the match. The one button supers also makes me not scared when I’m in burnout. Also it’s just more reliable. Way less missed antiairs or dropped combos
I don’t see it as simplified if you get to a good enough level. You realistically shouldn’t be doing modern inputs in combos. Motion input specials do more damage than modern, so you only end up using the modern gaming moves in neutral/isolated so anti-airs and reaction supers, maybe someone has a special that can function as a good whiff punish tool with shorter raw input
Lol modern is definitely viable in high level play. Im running Modern Manon in Masters league and there is a buddy of mine in japan who is also, currently running at 1700 MR
The one big thing modern Ryu misses out on is his corner safe jump since he can’t do crouch hp and I don’t think he can do heavy blade kick please correct me if I’m wrong but it’s something I just thought of
Modern warriors rise up! After maining Juri since launch, I decided to try Modern Cammy. After two days, I may be a convert. Mental stack is reduced so much, I can actually react to DI now. And the 20% tax only really applies to when I do a DP, divekick, or a reaction Lvl3, since I just use the classic motions for everything else. If you’re on the fence, just try it for a few hours and your brain will rewire itself. Also, use Haitani’s button config if you’re on stick or hitbox.
@@alexandrepeluchi6964 this is what he uses: L - M - H - Parry Assist - Special - Super - DI Personally, I swap DI and Parry since that’s what I’m used to on classic.
They lose damage on everything except regular input supers and specials. Fast input specials and supers, as well as all auto combos get damage reduced.
For the people who hate modern, we lose some moves on characters and need to know the classic input to use them and we have our special and super damage reduced by 20% it is perfectly balanced
@@depictiongames9758 imo the only unbalanced thing is the instant supers. Modern players still have to learn neutral. And every match against a modern player is the same as a match against a classic player. But once they get their level 3, man does the match slow down because they’re just waiting for the opportunity to use it lol. I’m not sure what they could do to change that or if it’s necessary. Because at the end of the day, there’s still way more people playing classic at the higher ranks than modern so it’s obvious that modern isn’t just the “automatic win” setting.
@@SoggySockssssyou can do them for 100 percent damage in a combo with regular input and still have access to them with 1 button for reactions. So you have the advantage of classic damage with the option of modern reaction. At least for supers, it’s strictly better in modern controls. The other drawbacks of missing some buttons will matter character to character though.
Isn’t it 20% less damage not 80% less?
It's 20% reduction on easy/quick inputs only, 80% reduction would be unusable
@@EdStopMotion yea that’s what I was thinking because nephew said 80% reduction in the beginning of the video when he was explaining modern controls lol.
He probably meant the scaling is set to 80% instead of 100%-20

its actually 2 button supers tho, Special & Heavy Atk
I’ve been thinking about trying modern chun after watching hitani at EVO man’s was working overtime
more dash up DP in M control or that's a player thing?
Lovin the modern ryu, by any chance will you do modern juri? Been maining modern juri atm, need more reference lol
4:00 You can input light tatsu manually and it'll come out.
Are you sure?
Modern controls are really fun and they make learning new characters so much easier
There's no way specials and supers are doing 80% less with modern. I think nephew means 20% less.
Yeah he must have meant to say 80% total, its 20% less

Hello Mr. Nephew! Modern warfare is not the way to go!
The best part about this is I'm doing the same thing...whenever I get the opportunity to do SF6 at the moment there is a lot going on.
wait anyone that uses modern control automatically lose damage?

Yes. You also lose moves based on what character you're playing.
Yes, it's to make the game more fair as what modern does bring is pretty big, at least for the casual ranked audience.
