  • First, Bryan Johnson claimed the World’s Record for age reversal. Then he took gold in the Rejuvenation Olympics, which he created with TruDiagnostics. What’s next?
    In today’s video, we interview Bryan Johnson, the creator of “Blueprint”, an algorithm that he claims makes better longevity decisions than he does. Then we have a chat with Ryan Smith, one of the founders of TruDiagnostics, to get the inside scoop on how they score the Rejuvenation Olympics.
    Finally, we reveal how we stacked up in the Olympics. You might be surprised by how well we did.

I agree with your view about that. I saw your comment on the class with Raf and recognized your name and agreed with you on that also. I am interested in what is working for you. Just got the book, The Kaufman Protocol, so I can pick the most beneficial supplements for me. Thanks for the information.

      Hey Kat. I like Raf, don't get me wrong. I just think that a "coaching session" is a two-way conversation, not a lecture. That's an hour I'll never get back.
      Sandra Kaufan's book is great, I haven't seen the new one, just the one she published about 3 or 4 years ago. You know, if you ask me what's working for me, it's hard to pin it down to just one thing. I do so many thing to turn back the clock, and the effects of almost all are so subtle it's really difficult to know what's working and what's not. All I know is that the effect of EVERYTHING that I'm doing is profound. But I'd say that the sessions of plasmapheresis that I've done were very effective. But probably the biggest effect come from the several hours of exercise that I do each week.

    Excellent video Lance! There are some general rules to resist aging and extend healthspan, but there are ones that are specific to each one of us individually. i found out I couldn't process beta carotene into vitamin A via 23&Me. This was causing premature aging of my skin, etc. The great thing about the Olympics if people using a consistent approach start rising to the top (I.e.- >n =1) then we could be onto something.

    I'm thinking we need a predictive mathematics for our longevity interventions. Add this = 20 year extension. Add that = 1 year extension. Eat poorly = -25 years. Something like that. The predictiveness will always change, based on emerging research, but it has to start somewhere and at some time.

    • @LanceHitchings
      @LanceHitchings  Год назад +1

      That would be great. However, there's some problems with that model, two in particular. First off, everybody reacts differently to different input, to food, to exercise, to supplements. So there's no way you could come up with a reliable number for any one intervention. The other problem is that many of the interventions are synergistic. If you do one, it might add a few years. If you do another, it might add a few years. But if you do them together, it adds more years that the sum of the two interventions.

    • @tyanite1

    It’s an economic misnomer to assume just because something becomes more popular it becomes cheaper; economies of scale just don’t apply to everything.

    • @LanceHitchings
      @LanceHitchings  Год назад

      I agree completely. In this case, because it's so useful to large number, I think that there will eventually be a lot of people competing for business. Hopefully, that will drive the price down, along with the equipment needed to perform the procedures and whatnot become less expensive to own and operate.

    • @Vgallo
      @Vgallo Год назад

      @@LanceHitchings yeah but like I said, just because something becomes popular and there’s people competing for business, doesn’t mean the cost will come down, there’s far more to it than that, it’s more about production costs and production of the raw materials, some things become more expensive as the raw materials become more and more rare.
      So you may be right, but the rational your using is incorrect, just because something is popular and there’s lots of competition doesn’t necessarily mean that costs and therefore prices will be reduced.
      Although I can’t see why it won’t.

    The most interesting question will be: What factors causes Bryan to age so slowly? Obviously, it will be many factors. But many also overlap. Most benefits would probably be attributed to exercise, diet, stress reduction fasting and CA. All of them are pretty much free. Since he spends millions and pushes all the buttons humanly known to improve longevity. I would expect huge diminishing returns. I also highly doubt you need to take 80 pills every single day for optimization. But it's also very much possible, he does one thing that is overlooked, but very beneficial. Also let's not forget the human mind, that once we think we're getting younger. We see the data numbers, we see the mirror. This will also reinforces you actually getting younger by believe. At least that's what I believe.

    • @LanceHitchings

      @@LanceHitchings I am actually really proud of Bryan for following my protocol and making it his own. When I observed his blue print, it is almost a carbon copy of what I came to the conclusion from research around nine years ago was the most optimal diet.
      The best way to know, is just to understand the nutrient profile of every food group out there, and only consume the most nutrient dense foods such as hemp seeds/eggs/lentils/pumpkin seeds/garlic/broccoli sprouts/etc.
      Just like Bryan says, everything he eats has to fight for its life to be consumed, and I believe that humans should focus on consuming primarily only the most nutrient dense foods, instead of just eating random vegetables that they like the taste of, that provide little nutrition such as green peppers/carrots/tomatoes/mangoes/oranges/etc.
      Consume foods high in magnesium and zinc as well. 🫡

    3. Fasting for 14-17 hours (17 works for me the best)
    4. Take a few cheap supplements like vitamins C, D, Taurin, Glucosamine s., creatine, etc. You're okay with 10-20 of these

    My wife and I worked as Naturopathic Doctors years ago. Almost everyone wants a pill to solve their health problems and very, very few want to change their lifestyle which is usually based on doing what they do to feel better in the moment. So, unless it's a pill most folks are out of luck... A side corollary most men just came, excuse the pun, to have better erections and did not worry about their health.

  • @paulcohen6727

    So, my big question is how do we really know that changes in methylation of your epigenetics really directly correlates with biological age? An assumption with it is that you age at a constant rate, month by month, and yet ordinary observations show that people tend to age in spurts and not smoothly. My mother looked much the same until she was 68 or 69 and then she went downhill rapidly. These tests are horribly expensive and don't really tell us anything useful that I can see. I suspect that most of the hype is just marketing. I'm skeptical about getting just a number. What is that going to do for you? If you get it low enough will you suddenly sprout a full head of hair or restore its color? Rather, I can see that the things I'm doing- nutrition, exercise, rest and sleep... are making a change; I can see and feel improvements in my muscle tone, energy level, endurance, complexion, body fat and composition, lack of chronic illnesses, libido, joie de vivre, etc. - all indicators that I get for free. In my mind, I've reversed my age nearly 50 years because although I'm 72, I feel as well as I did in my mid-twenties.

      Right? Its the "honeymoon" period. You feel good because you have eliminated junk from your diet. But a lot of vegans start to run into trouble after a while. Vegans also tend to age cosmetically faster. And what about anti nutrients from plants like oxalates and lectins? Bryan also mentioned he had a thyroid problem in a video of his, and I wonder if it's due to his veganism. I tried to ask him why he thought vegan diet was the answer to longevity and how long he's been on a vegan diet but he never answered. He does take collagen peptides which is from animals but I don't think it's enough.

      @@mimii3000 yes indeed. It seems that some people have this idea that animal protein has too much of a certain, life decreasing amino acid, but the evidence is not there for that assertion. There is also some argument about saturated fat, but that really doesn't include lifestyle factors. Overall, generally, people who give up the nutritional benefits of meat are making a bad decision. @@LanceHitchings I dont who is responsible for the leadership board, but I realize if these people are calling themselves athletes of longevity, they need show physical achievement. Not just adding hairplugs, dying their hair, lypo or taking TRT. I do non of the above gimmicks or shortcuts. i just kept making physical gains at 51, 185lbs, 6ft, 6:30 mile, bench 210lbs , deadhang 2:00, breath hold 2:30, deadlift 300. There are no 50 years olds who can boast such balance, These guys are nothing more than nerds, who couldn't compete on my level. Therefore I am the champ

    Aging and death were evolutionary advantages. The elders of the species need to die to allow for genetic variability to work. Lifespan is determined by SPECIES and humanity is middle of the pack so there is room to improve. Also, there is empirical evidence for three "stages" buried deep in our genetic code - youth until puberty, the chemical changes of sexual maturity; adulthood until menopause/andropause, and senescence. There are CLEAR delimiters for each stage, just as there are for insects' three stages etc. The true triumph of intelligence will be removing the need for death.
    Look up "progeria". This is a real very-rare genetic disease; isolate the active endocrine mechanism (maybe one hormone? Probably more complex ...) and I would bet you're halfway there. Do it in mice and you have time within your own lifespan to possibly find a "blocker". Reversing may be possible, but it will definitely be harder - like going backwards at an airport rental return.
    Have time and money and want to test the theory? Try full volume whole blood transfusions between genetically compatible juvenile mice and adults and see if you can impact the natural lifespan of the adults. This would be a good thesis project for somebody :)

    I think that the results that Bryan Johnson has "achieved" are misleading. If you approach the score taking into account all the money and time he spends, then you end up with half your life not actually living, but being led around by the "longevity" nose ring. Kind of like a mule milling corn.

    First off, Bryan Johnson did NOT take gold at the 2024 Rejuvenation Olympics. As a matter of fact, he's placed 6th on the Absolute Leaderboard behind constestants who spends a fraction of what he spends on longevity.

    • @LanceHitchings
      @LanceHitchings  4 месяца назад

      Yes, he did. At the time this video was produced, back in May of 2023, Bryan was in 1st place. Like all leaderboards, the ranking is constantly changing. He's in 7th place NOW, but when I recorded this video, he was in 1st place. Like all my videos, this one speaks to events that are happening AT THE TIME, not a year later. At the time, I was in 12th place on the absolute leaderboard. Now, I'm not even on it at all. Still in 10th place on the relative leaderboard, though.

    • @LanceHitchings
      @LanceHitchings  Год назад +3

      That's a great question. First off, I got both stem cell therapy and plasmapheresis. And yes, I think they contributed. This last year was also a big one for exercise and I think that also made a big difference. I also feel that everything else I was doing combined to have a synergistic effect that was enough to have an impact. Actually, I think that the impact of the exercise was accelerated because of the rejuvenating effect of the regenerative medicine.
