I am from Singapore and am not very familiar with the Venezuelan Narcostate (presumably similar to Columbia, Mexico or the Golden Triangle?). The original drug cartel was the British East India Company (re Opium Wars in China) and a lot of that opium flowed from South Asia through Singapore to Hong Kong and China. We have very strict and harsh drug laws in Singapore (hanging) and little narcotic problems as a result. I might not recommend our solution for Venezuela as it might be too draconian. I am from Singapore and am not very familiar with the Venezuelan Narcostate (presumably similar to Columbia, Mexico or the Golden Triangle?). The original drug cartel was the British East India Company (re Opium Wars in China) and a lot of that opium flowed from South Asia through Singapore to Hong Kong and China. We have very strict and harsh drug laws in Singapore (hanging) and little narcotic problems as a result. I might not recommend our solution for Venezuela as it might be too draconian. My original comment above was about economic development and getting around any economic sanctions the Americans are imposing on Venezuela. Developing industry and providing jobs will help provide alternative less violent/ dangerous means of making a living.

China and Russia have only been able to make in roads because of US policy for the past 100 years or more but especially since the 1930’s and after ww2 especially.
