+onewhosays goose Yes, we know, but he is smart, he was the one who did the brain work. Being a current college student who went through the SAT, i can affirm that what he said in the video is absolutely true. You cannot simply go from average SAT score to 2000+ by studying. You have to grow up being an intellect, but of course you can do things to improve your score by a few hundred points.
mm123456789164 Yes, some people are just better at test taking and are just smart through their upbringing, but you also gotta remember that's why colleges look for other things along with the SAT to prove your work ethic, high SAT means nothing without work ethic.
If I wanted to find someone to prepare me for the SAT I would want someone like this guy who was paid to get near-perfect scores because he has concrete proof that he can actually do it.
It is very easy to improve your score drastically if you understand the test. The Writing section in particular is especially easy to game, and I am speaking from experience here. You can definitely study for the math one as well, but I think that section has a limit to how much you can game it. Critical Reading is the hardest of the three to study by far.
Listen, SATs or any college boards aren't the end all, be all of getting into a good school. Look at the school you want, see what local 2 or 4 year they have matriculation agreements with. Do a year of core classes (stick to your strengths), get out with a 3.7 - 4.0, get a transfer scholarship. Showing you can excel at the college level is essentially what college boards are all about (if not practically.)
Well, he should know the nuances of the test--he's taken it so many times. Too bad the teachers in Atlanta did not hire his lawyers. Each of THEM got 7-year prison sentences.
being rich or poor has nothing to do with whether or not you do well on any standardized test, the test is easy for people who are familiar with it. its a practice thing. and everyone can figure out ways to practice.
This guy has it right. Prep courses won't give you shit. Remembering words and formulas won't make you smart. Understanding the origin of words and putting the formulas into practice will make you smart.
It is NOT a waste of time to study SAT vocabulary. I got every single question pertaining to vocabulary correct and got an amazing verbal score because of it.
Daniel It is a waste of time. The only vocabulary tested is in context. You just have to be good at analyzing the context. I did this and also got those questions correct
flower4536 Maybe the test changed, but you definitely needed to know the meaning of the words when I took the test a few years ago. Context only told you what words were appropriate if you knew their meaning. Anyway, I still remember all the words I memorized and they're now a part of my everyday vocabulary.
This guys comment is bs and I am living proof of it. Lol, Cs in every year of high school until last year I got A. same with University. Now I am working in New York and got acceptances to many schools for masters. You just have to be dedicated and try.
@Jaseeka1986 No, using a calculator doesnt make you "bypass" anything... I still had to know when to use certain functions and how to apply the algorithms that I implemented.
@Jaseeka1986 well its designed to make people go into debt so that by the time they get out of college they have to work.... it isnt designed for rich people at all, its designed to make people poor. But the problem is the way the monetary system itself is operated.... its a governing problem, not a rich versus poor thing.
M tutor during my SAT years was convicted on accidental murder. If you care to look up the difference, you'll find that that's not the same as manslaughter
he made sense, and your improving from a good score to a better one hes probably talking about people who start in the 1400 they probably only go to 1600
Practice man. No gain without pain. Just like no abs without thousands of crunches. You just have to motivate yourself and tell yourself that its worth it.
@Jaseeka1986 but I disagree with your sentiment, it does matter how you get your degree. The point of learning something is so that you understand what you are learning. If you dont understand *why* the functions work the way they work... then your usage of the graphing calculator undermines actual knowledge and makes it unfair for the people who understand the math but dont have a calculator. Its not the numbers that are important, its the understanding of the mathematical abstractions.
Honestly, this guy may be smart but he's spewing horseshit whether he knows so or not. You don't have to be some intellectual genius or some guy who was always smart to even get a really good score on either test. It's really just about understanding the test. You have to think like the writers of the test and understand what each question is trying to asses, that's how you get a 36/1600.
Two more things. One, he's made a business off of this, thousands of dollars, so why would he actually give the secrets of how to do well? That's like a businessman giving away his tricks of the trade. Second, some guys just like to think that they're just super smart and that's why they got a perfect score. That's really not true, I've seen people get perfect scores on these test that are legit idiots but I don't think it's because they paid someone to do it (but that is of course a possibility), yet I've seen others who didn't do so well on the test but are very intelligent. Also, the tests suck
CAPT. PHAMSA Why did you even bother? Also, nothing is stopping him from starting his own test taking center. Even with a criminal background, people would love to have this guy as a tutor (he might already be tutoring people) Plus, that doesn't validate any of the info. I got a 33 on my ACT which isn't a wonderful score but it's still 97 percentile and above (or higher) and I'm really not that smart. My weighted gpa is only a 3.76 out of 4.0. The point is, you don't have to be smart or even academically well off to do well on the ACT, you just have to understand the test and be efficient.
he probably got into every college he applied to even after he got caught cheating.... He got a perfect score like 10 times, who wouldn't want him.
Hell, just by him getting caught they promoted him. Now almost everyone knows he's aced the SAT multiple times.
You do know that he got caught while he was in college
This person has got incredible brain and confidence!!!
and awesome advice,,not just for SAT..but presumably all competitive tests
I love this guy
"but consider the source." ??! The source? This guy got TOP SCORES. He *is* the source!
+Leer Wesen This person was busted for a large scale cheating (16 times) not to long ago. CBS has videos about his problems.

+Fiasco Or you can be me im shit in school i hate it cause im lazy but i guess im naturally good at tests cause i got a 690-800-620

I have taken the test and I can confirm all of this information on test preparation.
Omg I love this guy's response at 1:06 XD
My SAT prep course was not a waste, I improved my score by 200 points in 5 weeks
200 total? That’s not dramitically improving your score lol. I improved by 500 points the next time and that was without the sat prep lol
alex clare are you actually kidding... 200 points is insanely dramatic. 500 points means you were just failing or not trying at the beginning
It is very easy to improve your score drastically if you understand the test.

This guy is the real mvp!
I programmed my calculator to answer questions for me for the math section... I am now a very adept computer programmer.

this is SO true.

And this is the truth. The harsh truth, the truth Ive realized too late but not tooooo late.

Oh I just assumed you had taken it recently considering your comment was posted not to long ago

Now I come across this video.
@Jaseeka1986 No, using a calculator doesnt make you "bypass" anything... I still had to know when to use certain functions and how to apply the algorithms that I implemented.
I increased my score by 240 in less than a month. I think u can increase ur score in a short period of time.

I like how this guys literally just classes are just a huge scam.
You might need him to tutor you in English.

I just bought a Ti-89 Calculator just because he said so.
Thank you.
his tips were really good.
I am bad at standardized testing.
Is it just me or does this guy look like ninja
Idk what he is talking about, Hagwon helps!
She seems mad
