The other way around, actually. Great video as always! I thought Liechtenstein would win it, because their best club FC Vaduz actually doing decent in the Second Swiss League with at least some players from Liechtenstein. Ill remember back in days...like at late 90s or so when we arranged similar tournaments with friends. It was actually fun to play with some crappy team. But you simulated, so it gives a bit more accurate results based on the team stats.
Bangladesh and Pakistan are two of the most populated countries yet they’re so bad at football while Croatia with 3 million people have consecutive top 4 finishes at World Cup
India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia are all super populated and all 4 are really bad and ranked really poorly. At least 3 of them can excuse it on cricket being their main sport
Because population is not the deciding factor of success of a country in football, and it's not even close. Economic wealth is. If we use this measure to determine what countries truly underperform in football, it must be either Malaysia, Singapore (6 million strong population which is bigger than Croatia and Uruguay and much richer than both, got clobbered by Indonesia at their own turf!), Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, and Mauritius. All but Taiwan (and perhaps Mauritius, CMIIW) are passionate in the sport and all of them are wealthy countries.

I figured San Marino or Liechtenstein would go a little further than they did in this edition of the World Cup. It would be even better if they actually deliberately tried to lose and be the de facto 'worst team'. Like each time is trying to prevent the other team and their goalkeeper from scoring in their own net. Kind of like reverse football. It would almost be an entirely different game haha
Or make double-ended pyramid tournament to prevent these teams from intentionally making fun of themselves. With the best and worst teams. The two worst teams in each group continue to play in another qualification until it ended up with reverse-final. Don't think this is possible in FM though.
Predictions, as someone who has done saves in some of these nations, and even coached the national team for San Marino during a Tre Penne save: Group A - 1.) Sri Lanka - 2.) Mongolia - 3.) Somalia - 4.) Caymen Islands Group B - 1.) Laos - 2.) East Timor - 3.) Turks & Caicos Islands - 4.) Bangladesh Group C - 1.) Liechtenstein - 2.) Macau - 3.) British Virgin Islands - 4.) Anguilla - 4.) Seychelles Predicting the winner of the whole thing to be Gibraltar, they seem a lot stronger than they should be in my saves. Also, is Malta missing from this list, or is it really rated higher than all these nations? Would be cool to see a World Cup experiment with only non-Fifa nations (Zanzibar, all the French territories, Kiribati, etc.), you'd probably get to see Kiribati play on their sand pitch if you watched the highlights. Not sure there's enough of these for a whole replacement, probably enough for a mini-tournament though. EDIT: I'm shocked that Sri Lanka didn't make it out of their group, I know they're pretty awful in real life, but I figured they would have more good real players than the other nations in FM to populate their team. Somalia making it out of the group didn't surprise me, I was pretty fuzzy on my 2-4 placement, but them going all the way sure did. Favorites for me were Gibraltar -> Liechtenstein -> San Marino, since the game obviously has much more real players to pick from to make great national teams for the European teams. I was debating where to place Aruba, but never predicted them making it to the finals either. Oh also, another probably-dumb idea for a World Cup, but maybe every island nation in one tournament? Would probably be more than 32 teams so I don't blame you if you don't know how to/can't set that up.
What most of them have in common is that even the baker of the village can have the chance to play in a World Cup qualifier! Something that for the “powerhouses” of football that will never happen for a baker or a teacher or a firefighter etc.
Now I want to see this happen in real life. Sadly I don't think any of the countries are able to host a 32 teams cup, or 16 teams cup for that matter. Maybe one other country would be able to host a small friendly tournament for the bottom players.
Abel Gigli in Somalia is Italian born defender played also in Seria A with Parma, Luis Leal is a big number 10 in Sao Tome & Principe played everywhere around the world, Cook Island don't play an official match from 2015 for the Oceania 2018 world cup qualification. Amazing Video

In this case, shouldn't you use REVERSE RULES so whoever LOSES get to advance, because surely, the goal is to find out who would hypothetically "win" a tournament that is about finding the WORST TEAM IN THE WORLD (with the caveat they still have to play to win)
You said Dominica was the first team to get zero points, but the group before them saw American Samoa with zero points, too. I could be wrong, but I think the Aruba player still had a foot in the box.

Now I want to see this happen in real life. Sadly I don't think any of the countries are able to host a 32 teams cup, or 16 teams cup for that matter. Maybe one other country would be able to host a small friendly tournament for the bottom players.
Definitively not San Marino, there isn't enough territorial space to harbor 32 teams
I remember FIFA 98, I used to play against the Maldives on easy all the time. Maldives had a player named Moses. I had a blast
I think this would actually be a really fun mod for a save - a Fifa bad cup that runs alongside the world cup with the bad teams
I am very happy to see the country of my origins, Mauritius, finally in the World Cup.
How do you customise this?
People think that Somalia has a bad team when really they don't. Its just their actual team is called France for some reason.
Are you somali
@@ahmedaraale4996 i'm italian from Roma
Fun fact, American samoa was the team australia played when archie thompson broke the record and scored 13 goals in an international match.
Australia 31 - 0 American Samoa.
The scoreline that'll definitely stand until the end of time, at least involving national teams.
@@UXB1000 Archie didn't realised he'd scored 13 either. He thought one or two of the other boys had outscored him. Even funnier was the fact that two days before hand australia won 20 something nill and the two starting strikers were benched for the game.
tfw Tom said 0 curse words on that blurred/beeped section lol
Chad Vs US/British Virgin Islands.
What a game could have been.
1:09 too smooth, +1 sub 👍
Haven’t watched the vid yet I BEEN asking for this so thank you! SOMALIA ALL THE WAY 🇸🇴 !!! EDIT: COME ON 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 LOVE TO SEE IT QUALITY VID 😂
I think one foot of the Aruba player was in the box so I think the penalty was fairly given
Brilliant video Tom!
"Who's gonna be the biggest virgin"
*YOU DON'T HAVE TO CUT ME OFF-*
His foot is inside the area and pirates of the Caribbean nice touch
As a bangladeshi,The Bangladesh one is just too accurate.
In this case, shouldn't you use REVERSE RULES so whoever LOSES get to advance, because surely, the goal is to find out who would hypothetically "win" a tournament that is about finding the WORST TEAM IN THE WORLD (with the caveat they still have to play to win)
If losing means next round and title and award at end
Who would want to win ? And get send home ?
Bangladesh and India actually have a real close bond.
In fact, we helped them gain independence from Pakistan.
No hate tho, just correcting 🍻
These are the sort of groups England get normally 🤣
They should do a World Cup B for these teams
"Look at me! Look at me! I'm the World Cup winner now!"
You said Dominica was the first team to get zero points, but the group before them saw American Samoa with zero points, too.
I could be wrong, but I think the Aruba player still had a foot in the box.
What a shame for Pakistan and Bangladesh. Both countries with hundreds of millions of people competing with mini island nations.
I'm neither Laotian or East Timorese but I'm pretty sure East Timor finished over Laos was an upset.
Definitely, not sure how FM rates their players tho
ASEAN country citizen here. I'm pretty familiar with both teams (both compete in AFF Championship) and they are actually even. So I don't think it's not an upset (ditto with the other way around).
@@lontongstroong East Timor couldn't even beat Brunei to qualify for the upcoming tournament so no I don't think so
HOW DID HE MAKE THIS?
Let's be fair, Somalia actually has quite a good experience in shooting and capturing the gold...
From Vietnam: the fact that east Timor failed for AFF cup 2022 makes the result in Group B sounds hilarious ^^
Thanks from EAST TIMOR 🇹🇱🙏
I wish I could see the most goal scores
Respect Aruba because they got to the finals even know it’s small and weak (no offensive)
It's part of the Netherlands so they will always get a bunch of Dutch league rejects, which are still better than most of players in other teams in the tournament.
Sad that our Dutch brother didn’t win the championship
It's outside the penalty area if the forward doesn't have a left leg.
Surprised Scotland aren't in there or didn't they get through the qualifiers?😀
Damn, these simulations are so accurate they account for match fixing? Sick.
somalia scoring 2x in the first 10min in the semis, even though gibraltar lost its impressive they didnt just collapse there and then
somalia was power house in horn of Africa dude they have long history in North Africa has well

So depressing that San Marino didn't win but maybe next world cup
Nah, Aruba guys leg was definitely in the box when the foul happened. If England fans are gonna claim Kane was in the box, Aruba definitely was
San Marino is NOT gonna be lowest-ranked after reaching the Quarter-Finals in this scenario 💀💀
I was convinced that my country here but it wasn't.i don't know what to feel.
Fifa World cup islands 2066 🚬🐜
Do the World Cup, but with 48 highest-ranked teams
You'll see that in 2026 anyway.
As an Mongolian, I believe in 20 years mongolia will qualify for world cup lol
2:33 American Samoa in the previous group also got 0 points
