    🤘🏻😎🤘🏻 thanks kid! I played and sang my own acoustic version of this, for my grandmother at her wake. I love AB, but this one hits on a different level

      Sure thing! Awesome that you were able to do that for your grandmother.

    I've watched all your AB reactions so far and I'm writing this to appreciate the way you do these videos. It seems that you're honestly enjoying the music played by these guys, and it's awesome to see someone getting into this great rock band. Yes, you can pause as much as you want because it's your show. I absolutely agree with you about the fact that Mark's riffs are so good, both his fingerpicking riffs and heavy riffs. It's actually the biggest reason I was attracted to this band along with Myles's voice. I highly highly recommend you to check out the studio versions of the songs you've reacted so far to hear those vocal melodies and riffs more clearly. I hope you will also react to studio versions of AB songs.

      Hey, I really appreciate what you've just said, and I really mean that. You're correct - I am loving this music! I'm doing all of this largely because I get to discover bands I otherwise might not have heard of. (AB doesn't actually count though; almost any way you could think about this band I probably should have already heard of them and fallen in love with their music). That being said, better late than never. I definitely plan on checking out some studio versions; a couple of people have mentioned that, and it's just that difficult decision you have as a reactor - do you wait to listen/watch until you react to it? Or say screw it and listen to it on your own time? I currently lean towards reacting to things; I hate wanting to react to something but I've already heard it. Ultimately I have to decide every time I listen to something - do I listen to a new song I've never heard before? Or is a studio version of a song I reacted to live ok? So much music and so little time. But I will say, you've asked for studio versions, so I'll certainly put that on the list, so keep an eye out! Again, thanks.

      @@DadDaughtersandDrinks Hey that's so nice. Just to make it clear, I want you to listen to the studio versions of the AB songs you've reacted so far on your own (not with a RUclips reaction). And you can choose some studio version songs you've not listened to yet to react here on RUclips. I'd like to suggest the title track off the Fortress album.

    Myles lost his father when he was a small child. His first solo album "The Year of the Tiger" is a concept album about the pain it caused his family. I think this helps him relate to this song about Mark's loss. Mark and Myles bring out the best in each other. I would suggest Year of the Tiger and Love Can Only Heal from Myles' solo album. Great songs.

      The live from Manchester version of Love Can Only Heal is spectacular. The music video of The Year of the Tiger shows the separation of father and son while the lyrics are from the mother's POV. Beautiful and honestvalbum.

    Yet another great reaction, thank you. Are you only doing live AB songs??? Can I suggest the title track from their 4th album 'Fortress', you can choose either their lyrics studio version or their live version from the Royal Albert Hall....both versions are equally as good IMHO.

      @DadDaughtersandDrinks  8 месяцев назад +3

      Thanks, I appreciate that! I'm not specifically only doing live songs; those were just all that have been recommended so far. I'm certainly up for looking at Fortress; if you think both versions are equally good then I'll probably do the studio version just to prove I'm not just doing live songs :-)

    If you notice, Myles is not playing guitar on this one. Most of the first album, which this is off of, was done before he joined and he didn't know the parts till later on. Soon after this tour he started to play more of the songs with Mark.

    Mark doesn't always sound like Sinatra. He is just amazingly good at it. In his band Tremonti, which I'm sure you will get to at some point, he is the lead vocalist and those songs are the farthest thing from crooning. Mark's confidence as a vocalist has grown over the years and my guess is he may have opted to sing this song if it had come a bit later, or he may have opted to put it on a Tremonti album instead. Please consider reacting to Words Are Darker Than Their Wings, live from Royal Albert Hall with the Parallax Orchestra. This is the very first live performance of this song even though it was recorded and released on AB3, I think 7 years earlier. The song is a conversation between Mark and Myles. They each trade verses like a conversation. It's about faith and belief, with Mark being a Christian and Myles a non-believer, though he might describe it differently now. Myles struggles with religion and faith after losing his father when he was a child because his father refused medical treatment due to his religious beliefs. He felt his father chose religion over being his father. His solo album Year of the Tiger dives heavily into these topics as a way to work through it. Though the song Love Can Only Heal does give some hopeful thoughts at least toward healing and still loving his father despite his choice. Incredible video of this song live from Manchester, England. I'm 53 and, if you can't tell, Alter Bridge is my favorite "modern rock" band, so thank you for these insightful reactions. I'm a subscriber as a result. One other thing, in case you are not already aware. AB is the same band as Creed with a different vocalist. Scott Stapp was more of a grunge style singer, oft compared to Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam. After years of struggling with alcohol addiction that got severe enough to impact his health and singing ability, in addition to his behavior, they parted ways and Creed became AB after connecting with Myles. Sidenote: Scott is now sober and has a new solo album and Creed is touring this summer. My guess is they may end up creating a new album. Definitely a huge financial opportunity, because many rabid Creed fans either are not AB fans or don't know about the connection. Creed was definitely a bit more commercial, especially for that time period.

      Mark's daughter has downs syndrome and Mark did the Sinatra album for charity. He does Sinatra so well that Sinatra's band actually back him on the record.

      Thanks for all of that great info, and for the sub. I knew they used to be Creed with a different singer, but I honestly don't really know a whole lot about Creed. Truth is, I was never a big fan of the grunge vocal sound. It's not that I actively dislike it, it's just not something that I find special, if that makes sense. (While I think Soundgarden may have been considered grunge, I don't think of Chris Cornell in that way. His vocals were out of this world). So I feel confident saying I would much prefer Miles' vocals, even without having heard much Creed back in the day. I'm thinking I might need to go back and check them out for the music itself considering how much I'm loving Mark's guitar playing though. Back in that era I was pretty immersed in players like Satriani, Vai, and Eric Johnson, so I missed out a lot on more popular bands in general.
      I'm sure I'll be getting to some Tremonti (probably sooner rather than later), but I'll definitely check out WADTTW pretty soon as it sounds like a fascinating concept to me. Songs that deal with religious concepts in a thoughtful way are unfortunately a rarity, but I'm guessing they nail it. (My current favorite musician is an agnostic guy named Ren (kind of genre-less, or all genres, depending on how you look at it), and his music often delves into religious themes at various depths, but always in a reasonable way).
      Good news about Scott; always love to hear when people can turn it around.
