Some people buy this, and struggle at first with it. But if you follow what he says in this video, and practice, practice, practice, your footage will get quite good pretty quickly. Of note, Zhiyun updates their app fairly frequently with new features and bug fixes, which is nice to see.

I just watched your video and noticed you said the buttons on the phone can be pressed by the clamp on the gimble depending on the button position, but I think the clamp has a deep curve that actually prevents it from pressing buttons, unless the phone has really big buttons. Just to inform you. By now you probably have this information anyway.

for my first gimbal i wanted to buy the dji one but considering i can have a dji "like" for almost half the price , i will definitively take the smooth q , thank you for your review , now i can buy more stuff to improve my video quality and maybe upload it someday . I thought this too, but then remembered the camera lens is directly in the centre, not towards the top like phones. The hinge mechanism might block the view. (I'm also interested in this because I have a GoPro too and I want a Gimbal :D ) Any thoughts?
That's true! I guess you could maybe try mounting so the camera faces you and with the triple tap mode it spins the other way. But still gotta think about the buttons on the clamp and anything you may need to access on the back.

haha. Probably wasn't the most accurate term but similar. You know how when they run their bodies never bob around. Just do the same thing. Taking light steps and cushioning the movements with your legs.
But does it have a function to put it back to center? DJI Osmo has the function of double tapping the button to center the camera, if you are manually turning it around or rolling.

We film natural sight and sound walks in cities using gopro hero 6 black and a zhiyun gimbal, and find the combination just right (you can see several films using this combination and also using our camera phone with the gimbal on our page if it's helpful?). Great review as usual David. Honest question aside though, if you can afford to blow this much more on smoother film and have to carry it around, won't it just be wiser and save up for a GoPro/DSLR/Mirrorless for better filming.
That's a good question. And it really depends. lol This type of product appeals to those who want the convenience (straight to ig/snapchat) or the light weight/simple run and gun setup. If I'm travelling for fun and just want to capture stuff on the side I'll probably bring this and use my phone + GoPro. But for higher production, better camera controls/lenses/codec, saving up is usually a better idea.
Solid review, good information for compatible phones (size wise). Do wish for more information about the App., you may prefer a third party app. but most people start with the one that belongs to the device for changing settings and advance control modes. Again, very good review.
Has anyone used the Zhiyun App to compare vs the native iOS app? So far the Zhiyun app seems to defeat the OIS jitter. I've done a comparison on my channel but I need to do an actual side by side so its easier to see. Any other suggestions??
Having issues getting my smooth Q to balance properly. I am trying to use the app to calibrate it but I can't tell what position the photo wants me to hold it in. This is very frustrating...

Mine suddenly jammed a bit, the joint nearest to the mobile heats up fast not sure what went wrong, it just tilt down suddenly. Joystick up and down won't do anything anymore.
I watched the advertisement ads I experienced regretfully not having the features described , first of all, I have to say that it has destroyed the vibrations, but the main goal is met, but the majority is too much. 1 - navigation key is running upside down, you're pushing up and down , the same for the left and right direction. 2-although it is 100% charged 3 routing engine is very weak and is running faintly. 3 - The connection with BT disconnects continuously 4-panoramic image taking appears to be recording does not record.It doesn't record some of the normal shots. 5-In free mode , right left orientation works, fixed and selfi does not work. 6-a fake program to update the opening video can not watch and does not make any difference in the update 7-follow-up mode is very unsuccessful self-signlining loses frequently leaves the follow-up , setting is deteriorating . 8 - material quality is bad , I think long life can not be used 9 - zoom button zooming in gradually, gradually zooming out gradually. 10 - definitely not stable ,not working properly.
how do you zoom in using a gimbal? do you still need to use fingers on screen of the phone or is there some other way to do that? I love macro photography, but it involves a lot of zooming in and out. So I wonder how that works with gimbal. Thanks.
You should never use the zoom on a smart phone unless for some odd reason it does actually have optical zoom. The zoom on phones is normally digital meaning that it just crops and enlarges the photo. Instead get closer and crop in post.

With an adapter plate, how do you feel about this being used with a GoPro?
Double check this but I think most GoPros should be heavy enough and large enough to fit in this clamp. No adapter required.

U can get an adapter plate for your GoPro that works great on these.
