I got offered some big money for my R2 pop-up Lightsaber carded figure that I bought in 1985 at Sears for .50 Cents. I have a lot of carded figures from my childhood, but I can't sell my childhood, no matter what.

If I had those lying around I would be selling them.

This in all honesty is why repros exist. Some people just want the figure even if it isn't vintage and unless you're a vintage collector most people aren't dropping money for overpriced figures.

      @ThatJunkman  2 года назад +1

But why do they need it to look 100% the same and hurt us or they only care about their collection? :)

@@ThatJunkman I think as long as there is a marking somewhere it's ok but yeah I agree the original trademark should not be there. Get rid of peg holes maybe.

The ones who want repros don't usually care about value they just want old school figures cheap. I personally have no nostalgia for them. By the time I was old enough for action figures it was He-man I grew up with. I was 16 when the 90s figures came out and by then to old but still collected them.

@@nerdcraftercoley7305 yeah I was thinking when did I stop caring about action figures as a kid and I believe my last purchase was one of the Real Ghostbusters toys in 1987.
I then spent my money on Music and still do , that's expensive enough but I have never really cared about collecting my old toys , I get that itch scratched by watching Junkman.
I have no idea why someone would spend more then 50 to 100 bucks on a vintage toy.
But hey if it makes collectors happy then that's awesome!
I am sure they would think I am nuts for spending thousands on guitars.

@@ThatJunkman I don't know anything about Repo toys , do they not have marks that show there not original?
If they have obvious marks or say on the card they are Repo then I see no problem but if they are making them exactly the same and trying to pass them off as vintage then yeah that's shitty.

A vendor had one of those 21 back Boba Fetts for sale at ICC Con. $17,000 but wasn’t graded. He let me hold it and look at it. Was awesome!

I saw a vintage death star playset for $200 but the rope was missing, in case you are wondering I went to a Star Wars swap meet.

Good luck getting those prices for a toy. Good luck ESPECIALLY in this economy getting those prices.

1:36 those sellers are being dishonest. Kenner put the copyright date of the movies onto the figures, not when they were made. It's 100% impossible to tell if a loose R5-D4 or Boba Fett came on a SW, ESB, or ROTJ card, or with Boba Fett also a POTF card. And if I were a toy-cloner I might take an original Obi-Wan cape, and cut it down to become a Jawa vinyl cape using a repro as a cutting template. But I am totally sure all of those loose vinyl-caped jawas are totally legit.

I can get loose and complete vintage He-Man/MOTU figures for cheaper than that on there. I got a complete vintage Grizzlor on there for a little under $20. But yeah, those prices are crazy.

Most likely we are seeing a bubble that’s about to burst. These buyers had better try to flip these items quick or they are likely to never make their money back on these purchases.

Hey I love looking back at the old figures and the Nostalgia it brings , but I wouldn't pay 100 bucks for a carded figure!
I don't collect them and lost my original collection years ago which was pretty substantial.
I don't get why ANYONE would pay thousands of dollars for a figure, once us Gen X dudes die off these things will be worthless.
I would maybe pay 14 thousand dollars for a night with 1983 Carrie Fisher, Maybe......
But hey if it brings people joy then who am I to question it ?
I spend thousands of dollars on musical instruments and equipment so I can't talk.

Ugh, you can buy a loose mint boba any time and grade if that’s your thing. Why would you spend $5000,- for a graded loose boba, that’s just dumb
