      Very similar with the Australian SAS filling that role while we tried to defend our helicopter assets back in the 80s - you didnt see or hear anything till they were on top of you, and they disappeared just as quickly. We're talking 'super soldiers' vs guys who primarily repaired aircraft and had to fit the soldiering into that schedule - you were a soldier first, of course, but somehow the brass didnt care about that when they needed a helicopter : 7am or 11pm, it had to be fueled and ready to fly.

      Pedro >>> 75th are specialized infantry that are spec ops who can do all of that same stuff the other spec ops do. I personally think they're the greatest warriors of our military besides tier one units. I say this because of that mixture of infantry and spec ops. None of the spec ops guys really look forward to fighting against a good force of enemy infantry warriors so Rangers have that advantage of wanting to fight conventionally and still using their spec ops skills in the process.

  • @Mr2ndAmendment
    @Mr2ndAmendment 7 лет назад +1114

    I've been up against them for two box rotations, and they're generally great at what they do. The "hate" comes from the games they play -taping up their MILES gear, running around shooting at the ground "safety killing" everything, just doing stuff that doesn't actually work in the real world. Last time they hit us by blowing through an admin route we had through C-wire and tank traps, and no OC in sight so of course their highest ranking becomes the OC and how do you think that worked out?
    They tend to have some of the most qualified dudes in their organization though, and they are extremely adaptable at playing as any kind of bad guy threat. Sucks they don't get to deploy, but they do spend a lot of time in the field and I think their fieldcraft is probably at a very high level.

    They are effective. My unit was sent there twice when I was stationed at Ft Campbell as a Chinnok Mechanic. They decided my first time going there they were going to put the aviation brigade out in the field instead of keeping them at the local airport. About 3 days into the field exercise they decided to "attack" what they thought was bravo Co which was the Company that all the pilots were in but instead got mixed up and attacked Charlie co. The very next morning I reported for mess duty only to have no one show up. So I went back to bed. Turned out they took out all the cooks. Since Charlie was mainly cooks and support. It was effective moral dropped as soon as we realized the hot food service was gone for the rest of the week. Everyone hated those dam op4 guys for taking the cooks out.

    This unit should actually be one of the most honored in the US Army. This unit was one of the original battalion-sized paratroop trial units created at the beginning of WWII. While others were eventually staffed to Regimental sizes, the 509th remained a battalion throughout the war. It started off as 504, 503, finally named 509 2nd battalion in the air, alone, on its way to the first U.S. combat jump of WWII in Algeria North Africa. It secured the advances to Kasserine Pass. The 509th was relieved and the position carelessly lost by subsequent units, allowing the Kasserine Pass debacle, and our 1st major defeat of WWII. The 509th developed the first pathfinders. As our initial Italy invasion landings at Salerno came under threat the 509th was given less than a day to prepare and execute a sabotage and successful delaying action behind enemy lines at Avellino, losing over 100 men. At the infamously, precarious toe-hold of the Anzio beach landing, B company stood out in a forward salient along a line at the 509th position, holding off the German forces. B company was wiped out when Germans made a full and final attack to push the US back into the sea. They served as vital delay and warning to the entire line as the attack was thwarted. The 509th was finally whittled down to fewer that 40 men in the Battle of the Bulge before being disbanded and its members absorbed into other paratroop infantry units. The 509th "Gingerbread Men" stand as a symbol and example of our countries innovation, tenacity, and sacrifice, working for the good. It is far from being our most hated unit.

They are "hated" in the sense that, like in any other game, you "hate" your opponent in the sense that your are trying to defeat your opponent and you are trying to win the struggle against them. The only difference in this game is that the things learned by playing it can be implemented in real situations to help defeat the USA's enemies and help keep more of our own people alive.

      I would have to agree. As a former soldier some of those CID soldiers have too much of a power trip. Especially the low ranking ones just below E-5. A friend of mine once encountered an idiot in which he was walking and minding his own business on base at night. He told me the bastard gets out of a car after he drives past him and screams: CID!, CID! Who are you? Why are you walking out here? His response was: I'm just walking to the Commissary! Then the guy further interrogates him for no reason. Then leaves without apologizing. Those are some of the things at some Army bases that are too stupid. Nothing to take anything away from other soldiers or other people who serve at other branches. Just sharing the stupidity that goes on with some that have a power trip.
      The 509th Geronimo division is a solid and good readiness division. Training like that is awesome. And believe it or not, some units hate training. And then when they go out in the field for real and fail miserably after being rated. They then complain that their training wasn't adequate enough. Just sharing a few more tidbits. Again, this is nothing against other units within the US Army or other branches that take their jobs (MOS's) seriously and serve with dignity.

      I had a friend at Bragg get totally screwed by CID when he offered to help them during an investigation of a murder that had possible ties to Skinheads, back in the mid-90s. They actually tried to pin it on him because that was easier than doing their actual jobs. No, CID is definitely not your friend.

    I loved being opfor during basic for officers. I had a blast picking them off.
    Also, about military customs. A butter bar was sweeping the floor after the training. I purposely went over to him and started saluting, he immediately stopped sweeping and saluted back, then resumed sweeping. I did that multiple times, every time saying I had to go get something from the supply room in the back.🤣

    • @Christian-cg1nx
      @Christian-cg1nx 7 лет назад +2

      Chris Golden no, no contradictions save the shitty translations based off the Alexandrian manusrcupts. of course that's how some of the stories would seem if you didnt know God. and i specified murder and extortion of nonbelievers, of course there is shown people abusing or doing bad stuff in the bible, that's sorta the point, man is wicked and we can't earn salvation. that's a whole diffrent matter than what is lslam is even and especially taking into account abuses of those who claim to work in christs name.

    • @Christian-cg1nx
      @Christian-cg1nx 7 лет назад

      Chris Golden at least you get it though, claims can be scrutinized there is no exception with islam.

    • @Christian-cg1nx
      @Christian-cg1nx 7 лет назад

      Chris Golden think about that last one though. murder, i specified extortion and murder of all nonbelievers, you say murder. like well if there is news of murder here or there its automatically bad because it speaks of murder? so then in the cases of God telling the jews to kill all of a particular land, they were either genetically modified see genisis 6 and more, and they were practicing child sacrifice and more, so it is purposeful. there's lots of interesting stuff, all with reason and all with misconception, such as i held before i came to know.

    During an exercise in New Zealand the enemy force would drive their vehicles past our vehicle check point during the night and fire their weapons into our position. They would always drive past at great speed. As section commander I filled sand bags full of sand and placed them across the road as speed bumps.
    It was great fun to see them drive over the sand bags at speed. The resulting bumping around was enough to disorient the crew and stop them from firing. My section would then open up on the enemy force. I loved it.

      Joint readiness training center. All units that deploy overseas had to get certified here by training and facing these guys in the 509th airborne who play the enemy. Its a month long engagement where your unit deploys to a fictional country.
