As a pilot, we do and watch crash analysis to learn as much as we can. Perhaps we don’t make the same mistakes. Woody’s humiliation is obvious. He teared up. Yet he understood by going through it he was teaching us something. And that is more important than his ego. You guys are tops in my book. BTW Woody also teared up talking about the honor of Gus choosing him to mentor him through instructor. How can one not love you guys.

Did you not watch the video? When a person states their limits, don't try to push them into it.

let go of the chip on his shoulder long enough to watch and learn from Master Class divers like Woody!
At dive number 51 he was sooo nasty to me that I thought I may have given up on this sport completely.

This video flys in the face of a previous comment when I thought you were too mean verbally responding to an instructor doing (CF1?) and not the ambassador that brings positive awareness to the sport while constantly impressing upon the audience how important safety is combined with a constant level of humility and respect for one’s own limitations and diving in and of itself. Woody. Appreciate the honesty and humility so much. You have the most contagious attitude, you genuinely care about others, you think hard about your mistakes and you are quick to check your ego. I’ve been more conscious of my ego and mistakes since watching your channel- So for every moment that you own up to your actions, (ill speak for myself, even though i’m likely just one of many) I take that to heart, I’m not a diver, but in my every day life I strive for humility and honor. You’re a great dude and im so glad no one was hurt- and that you did the right thing when the time came. Appreciate ya

Glad that we can laugh at this one and no one was hurt - Humbling experiences are often held so preciously!
I would love to have Woody as my instructor!! Sounds like maybe too much fun XD

I have been binging these videos lately as I have been considering getting certified for recreational diving at some point. The information in your videos is so valuable, and I appreciate hearing humility from such skilled people. I hope most diving instructors are like y'all. Thanks for the great channel!

ok I'm definitely guilty of being one of those lurkers who just watch every video without subscribing but Gus had such a good point about how real you guys are and there's too little of that on the internet these days. Thanks for keeping it real and thanks for resparking my interest in diving again haha seeing the price tag after my first dive session was off putting to the point I didn't pursue the hobby but I really do love being in the ocean

I found your channel through Mr. Ballen. I have NEVER dived before, but I'm so glad you told this story. Hearing how you took accountability for your mistake, acknowledged various aspects of how and why it happened and accepted your fault in the situation, and putting your ego aside.... This has made me trust you even MORE as a dive instructor. Thank you for sharing this. I'm not ready to give it a try yet but maybe someday when I'm ready I will have someone as awesome as you to teach me.

We all make mistakes sometimes the "moment ". It's great that you had someone there to watch out and help in the event of anything. That's all in the experiences of life that we learn from, keep in our minds and hearts and move on. Thanks guys and great job.

Congratulation Woody for your courage to confess this and for your humanly way of reliving it (one could feel beyond words)! It's what makes you a great person (and surely a great instructor)! Thank you to both of you for this lesson! In my view, it should make your channel more appreciated too (not less)! Great job! Thank you.

Good on you Woody! i could see how uncomfortable this was for you so max respect for sharing your story. this humbleness and honesty is one of the biggest draws and reasons for being a subscriber, so dont feel embarressed, we're only human :)

Congratulations on the subscriber milestone. Thanks for sharing your story Woody, not only for showing humility and the ability to learn from a mistake, but also not to quit, I'm sure some instructors would have hung it up, even more so with a lot of experience, but the world needs experienced instructors!
