Only Smith & Sniff could be classed as a car podcast then completely go off on a tangent about beavers and utter the words, “learn to climb for fuck sake” 😂😂
Good show chaps. In Australia Sheets and Pillow cases are known as Manchester. I am guessing that in the distant past that cotton mills in Manchester manufactured and exported to Aus. I'm just guessing. Cheers for a beaverish pod cast.
Renault Talisman is the result of taking over Samsung Cars in Korea, it's their design. Two straight minutes of Sniff saying "Is it?", "Are there?", "Did we?" and "Don't they eat fish?" on beavers despite being solid on narwhals is a new peak in broadcasting.
As somebody who was considering a Ford C max Mpv as their first car, I instead bought a 2001 honda crv in Naples Gold. More space, a little more reliability (happy to be proven wrong) and whole heap more styling. Picnic table as standard, thank you very much Mr Honda
Watching the defender ad following the podcast, can now see that going through the bushes the rolling defender acquired a mashed up front corner and concave roof before going into the roll. But no beavers harmed in the process.
I have a 3 yr old C63 AMG and a Tesla Model 3 Performance which are pretty much in the same class (but not in the same league as the RS6/GT Etron) and for me jumping out the C63 into the Model 3, I agree with Johnny that the big piston engined ICE cars don't feel as much as a weapon when you back to back them.
Sorry to have to disabuse you chaps but beavers are herbivores, they don't eat fish. Beaver tail meat is highly prized by North American trappers apparently it's delicious! I wouldn't know 🥺 dont eat beaver🦫
Rifter sounds like they just took Drifter ( or Grifter ? ) and knocked off the first letter . There must be a travel game here , spotting cars and adding or subtracting a letter to the name . Rolls Royce Host , Ford Ska .....
I'm from Lancashire and it's definitely 'oction' but the only person I know who said 'tuth' was from Wolverhampton. On that side of things I think my son may have come up with the new name for the forthcoming Ferrari SUV, he has a cheap chinese remote LaFerrari which he calls the SaFerarri - should I copywrite this?
I was just thinking (oh, geez) and there you are on an island and other than mining coal, your dependent on your enemies (euro) for gas and oil. so what more perfect place to go totally electric (wind, solar, nuke). maybe Boris and your bosses can come up with a scheme so everybody can have an elec. car or scooter, elec. appliances.
The electric car and its parts has been around since the early 1900's, so what is 'new' about the technology in an electric car? All the widescreen stuff fits in any electric or internal combustion powered car. The internal combustion cars are constrained by emissions, which change almost every year, so more parts need to be fitted, sensors, after treatments etc. so the cost to make them goes up, whereas the electric car has a universal motor, some batteries and a few wires, no changing regulations to worry about so the cost should be coming down. Jumping up and down about the 'technology' in EV's is a bit of an Emperor's New Clothes situation.
What's new about the technology in an electric car? Lithium-ion battery packs with water cooling, synchronous reluctance motors, insanely high-current charging systems, high-efficiency inverters with SiC MOSFETs - there's tons of innovation happening EV power trains.
@@j.dietrich The are effectively old technology. Lithium ION batteries began in 1985, first commercial one in 1991, that is thirty years. Synchronous reluctance motors were invented in the 1920's. That is nearly a hundred years ago. Very high voltage (greater than 1000V) Silicon Carbide MOSFETS have been around since 2008, but they have been around since the early 1990's, so not really new. High current charging is nothing new either, the first diesel electric submarines in the 1910's used a similar concept. None of what you mention is innovation. I like EV's they will replace ICE vehicles of all types eventually but they are not the technology breakthrough or innovation that they are touted as. The parts that comprise an EV are mostly less expensive than the ICE parts they are replacing or for the systems that are 'common' (brakes, wheels, tyres, glass etc.) are the same cost as for any other vehicle. Only the battery is a magnitude cost change but when you balance that with the deletion of the exhaust, fuel engine and 95% of the transmission systems and their associated electronics, they are effectively nearly cost neutral. Therefore by definition an EV should be the same cost or less expensive than the ICE counterpart. However they are not and the 'reasoning' for this is the 'advanced, innovative' components are more expensive. My contention is there is nothing that is innovative or conceptually new in an EV and therefore the pricing premise is a falsehood. As a long time powertrain engineer, I would love to see links to the innovation that is in an EV powertrain. Conceptually, it is nothing more complicated or innovative than the electric toy car you buy for your children from your local toy store.
Talking of running on like a bastard, late 90s my auntie got married in London wedding car was a mk9 jag with a diesel sounding engine, I remarked to my brother it doesn't sound right with a rattly sounding diesel in it but hey ho so it pulls up bride exits followed by bridesmaids, bloke shuts off the engine and it carries on running for what must have been 5 minutes dieseling like an old knackered transit...... I think the bloke kicked it and it stopped in the end.
I feel confident in declaring that "I'm pretty solid on narwhals" is a phrase that has never been uttered before.
11:00 - Smoking and Air Quality packages is a confusing combo.

Pot, Kettle, Twat merch would sell out instantly.
I'd buy a t-shirt with that on it 👍🏻
You'd want an American variation ... "Pot, Kettle, Twot" 🤣
@@veemacks7255 or "Pot? Kettle? TWAT!!!"

Smoothie story was beautifully written.
Does anyone else immediately think of Windsor Davies little round sergeant from Terrahawks when you see the back of the Ioniq?
The gingle-less tambourine Irish instrument is called the Bodhrán, meaning drum in Irish. Bodhrán is pronounced 'bowrawn'.
I think this is by far the funniest weekly podcast you chaos have done so far. I was in tears (no onions about all day).
Outraged at the excessive amount of car talk in this episode. Only marginally offset by beaver talk.

33:32 love the little throwaway OTSOT from Jonny 🤣
As a Lincolnshire lad, I pronounce it "auction" 🤪
I mean awk-shun 😁
Thanks for the uplift and laughs on my drive to work. Much needed on a Monday morning!

29:02 One thing I did NOT expect in this episode is BEAVER SHAMING! O_O
Jonny was so sure about Beavers building dams to catch fish, only to be completely disproven seconds later. Hah!
I've got an SMAX. I like it.
To rift is like to belch, burp in Scottish. So a rifter sounds like a car that just goes around belching at people
My Nana always says “oooohh I’m rifting”, haha, that’s preciously funny.
