My favorite part of any fight that involves the abyss watchers is when they create a cartoonish dust cloud around whatever they're spamming the slam move on.
The Undead Legion is having a hard time fighting Elden Ring bosses because they're placed dead center on their AOE attacks. Maybe if they were more spread out they would have a better chance?
Abyss Watchers my beloved. I know they will get crushed by most of the late game bosses due to their hp but I couldn't care less. Their ai was pretty good I saw some sick dodges and they can do a lot as a group. Now I just need to see a really buffed abyss watcher vs Maleina. Like the rekindled abyss watcher from the ds3 convergence mod or something would be sick
I think there should be at least one Abyss Watcher that has either friendly fire or an special enemy team so it could hurt both their teammates and the boss so it could stay true to the boss (and it would be pretty funny)
If I remember right, the Abyss Watchers are coded to do less damage to NPCs than they do the player so that they didn't kill each other too quickly. Removing that mechanic can improve their boss-killing skills a lot.
It's not unexpected for them to be so weak, they're the first Lord of Cinder we fight in the game. And also they always fight in a group, they're Farron's Undead Legion afterall, and their battle is against the Abyss and not Giants or Gods.
It would be interesting to see Artorias fighting without the corruption of the abyss with sword and shield and accompanied by Sif. I'm waiting for the gravetender champion and the gravetender greatwolf and also the Halflight The church spear or the shira, the mad king's crucifix would do a lot of damage.
My thoughts watching them fight Malenia: If they coordinate well enough, they can beat her. Thoughts after Malenia: Not surprised, given how most of the fights went even after Radahn. Their scaling really screws them over, they have zero health.
I like it a lot. But i think the best way to balance this think is when is doing the phase change. Make them inmune until the animation is done, like elden ring and cinematic bosses.

I recall someone else doing this for DS3. Midir ended up being so strong that the game crashed before he did. After him, the Nameless King killed the most watchers.
I always found Abyss Watchers underwhelming difficulty-wise (Ds3 was my first souls game and I only used my starter basic equipment, beat them in less than 5 tries).
Now we need to mobilize as a fan base in full Abyss Watchers regalia and go beat the tar, the breaks, and the noses off of all the other triple a companies for putting out a bunch of completely woke over priced p2w shit!
