The ball literally wasn't on the line though... maybe it was touchng, and opponent can not cross net to look at a mark. Not saying he was right but the Umpire was clearly not and didnt know how to handle the situation.

i think he was trying to show how he put some clay on the line by running next to it... on another part of the line.
He literally moved the clay around because her knew the ball was close. Why would you do that when the ball was already close? He did it to cause confusion.

The Evans-Moutet match was a masterpiece of aggro. Evans often feeds off this stuff, but I felt it hurt him here.

I like how the Fognini umpire repeats the obscenity himself multiple times.
But his point is fair, Fognini is always doing this...and he actually said bull**it 4 times (3 times when he was sitting and one time when he was going to the court)
Agreed. The code is there to prevent spectators from having to hear obscenities, to deter players from doing such and behaving in a dignified manner. If the official repeats it in a manner for others to hear, like we did, he has committed the same infraction of utterance. And he did it multiple times

What's even worse is that Fognini says that the umpire is lying and tries to convince the supervisor of his own truth. That's real unsportsmanlike conduct.
If Opelka had been there he would have given the umpire a code violation for that one.

Kavcic literally swiped his foot over the mark. His argument did not make any sense. He claimed he showed her the mark, then says there is no mark. Sounds nuts.
And according to the subtitles, he's the one announcing "out", there is nothing called audibly from the umps.. Crazy bad fait arguments from him...

He swiped at the ball mark during the action almost simultaneously as the ball was bouncing off the clay. That was what he was failing to communicate in his piss poor English.

Evans should of had about 5 point penalties for swearing
I love how the Fognini fight all starts because he doesn't understand the rules. Yes his opponent may have hit the ball twice but because he did so during one continuous swing it's not an offense.
I will never understand the seemingly endless arguments with umpires. I think after five or ten minutes of arguing it's no longer about the call, it becomes gamesmanship to try to disrupt the rhythm of your opponent and it shouldn't be allowed. The call is the call. They're rarely overturned especially on clay, so just get over it and move on.
Also, I don't know why anyone would willingly choose Fognini as a doubles partner. With his erratic behavior, you're almost guaranteed to lose the tournament
Schwartzman probably just plays doubles for fun. His main income comes from singles

Ymer was kinda right. The umpire didn't give Kavcic a point penalty after hitting the chair with his racket and shouting multiple times "you are so bad" but then goes and gives Ymer a point penalty for ball abuse. Makes zero sense to me.
It's like the umpire forgot about the audible obscenity rule in the Moutet - Evans match.
Common sense if he did punish them the match would finish without winner double default haha

@@louisg.7939 the point of translation is not to be exact to literal definition, it is to be most accurate in context and understanding. “He is not fair play” is not correct in English, but saying “He is a sick player” is, and both convey a similar meaning. Thus, Sam’s translation was better than yours.

Fognini is a clown but he was absolutely hilarious in that double match. It was almost as he was drunk. PS in the next episode can you add the game Fognini got disqualified? Idk if there's footage of that or not , I missed that game when it was live :(

It amazes me how timid the umpires are. They plead with the player to understand their call as though the player has the final say. They shouldn't even respond other than to make the call, issue a code violation or so on. If the player argues, just ignore them and if they refuse to take the court, they lose a point or forfeit. Simple as that. This whiny style of argumentation from the umpires is so unbecoming. It really cheapens the sport.
Honestly. Every time I watch these videos I get the urge to watch some Pierluigi Collina videos afterwards. That guy took absolutely no shit from anyone, and everyone respected him for that.

Tbf I totally agree with Ymer, that umpire let Kavcic verbally abuse the hell out of her, over and over, with no point penalty....I'm not saying he shouldn't of gotten one for ball abuse, but i'd be really annoyed that Kavcic got away with all that (when I think the ball was in too).

That ball was clearly out and Kavcic didn’t lose it until he realized the umpire was siding with Ymer and he was getting cheated out of a fairly won point. Also, he wasn’t trying to swipe his foot over the mark. It’s common practice to do that next to the mark when there’s no Hawkeye. Ymer would have definitely pointed that out.

I'm sorry but Kavčič's seems really dirty to me. At 1:12, he very clearly reaches back with his racket and sweeps clay aside immediately after the call. He then points to what's obviously an old mark. He then uses his foot to further smudge the actual mark at 1:29, and he closes by throwing a temper tantrum, insisting there was no mark over the area he's now twice tried to cover up. And for what? A break point chance in the first set? I understand how a really critical, high-stress moment might get the best of a player's better angels, but that's ridiculous.
It is a waste of time to ask for a supervisor to come to the court because of a line dispute, questionable call, or code violation. The chair umpire has the final say and the supervisor will tell you as much.
Remarkable clips these. In sad, empty arenas....professionals high up in the game, their words exposed on the mike without the customary slow handclap and whistling from the crowd. Especiallly the final segment involving Evans....with Moutet's 'pals' as Evans calls them (Gasquet, Paire, Mahut?). Fascinating.
An absolute dream tournament would include Paire, Kyrgios, Fognini, Moutet, Evans, Tsitsipas, Medwedew, Opelka... Who did I forget?
Can anyone explain the mates in the locker room comment? I thought evans was losing his mind I don’t understand the context. My goodness I lost it when Moutet was like of course I’m going to the locker room I have to shower 😂
I believe its because Evans wanted something with Moutet in the locker room, far from the empire and cameras (private chat? argument? more? ) and he was referring to Moutet french team mates (Gasquet, Paire...) who were spectators. He was saying that they were gonna be in the locker room as well to defend Moutet.
He was basically offering him out for a fight in the locker room and asked him to bring his mates lol Dan obviously pretty confident he could take on more than one 😂 In reality it was just stupid.
I felt bad for the umpire with Ymer / Kavcic... she was desperate that she is allowing Ymer to say if he wants as well that "she is bad"... "you can say it and let's see" lol
She was too professional with two kids who should've done the same I mean be professionals
