Is Mt Vic permanently closed to vehicles to the summit? when I lived in Takapuna in the 1970s you could even drive up there at night when I came back on holiday even as late as the early 2000s you could still drive up to the top during daylight hours the views were fantastic from the summit, if you can't drive to the top it's a shame as how will lots of people who are less abled or as fit as you ever get to see the view from the top, and what is this obsession in NZ now of changing the names of everything back to the Maori one, first it was mount Egmont now Mt Vic where will it end?
