I use 2FA via Authy wherever possible, but a recent case of a UK based RUclipsr had his a/c taken over for a short while after a phishing email from someone posing as an potential advertiser allowed them to access his PC whilst Google was open, through which they very quickly accessed admin settings to disable Google 2FA and changed passwords incl RUclips etc....fortunately he did manage to get control back within a week or so I think, but my concern is that despite him having an app like Authy, that Google allowed a hacker to disable 2FA without extra checks, e.g. using the 2FA app to verify changes....this maybe an edge case scenario but it could/may have been prevented if Google forced app to verify changes. I suppose same outcome would be even if using a hardware key like Titan or Yubikey.....? Your thoughts Peter...?
