I always told my friends that geeks are nerds with social skills XD his description was spot-on to what I've been telling people for years. As a software engineer and giant computer geek, I make it a point to educate people on the difference. Just like this guy said, I'm smart, I get obsessed with stuff, but I also have good social awareness.
Another analogy I use is that geeks prefer Star Trek and nerds prefer Star Wars. In my mind, geeks geek out about all the cool theoretical physics and tech that's on Star Trek, while nerds nerd out about the specs of the Millennial Falcon.

A Geek will think that information can be used to pick someone up at a bar.
A Dork knows that knowledge won't get them a date, but they hang around because someone /might/ ask. It could happen.

I have never seen the terms used in this manner. If anything, the three sections ARE the nerd/geek/dork aspects all by themselves, no overlap.
Nerd is the IQ; the book smarts. You get called a nerd for studying academics and taking interest in it. Because children only want to play, bully, and obsess over tiktok
Geeks are the obsessed, the ones who put emphasis on trivia for generally unimportant things like pop culture. These are the star wars geeks, or whatever fandom geeks, etc. Heck, you can even be a sports geek (though if you're a number crunchy statistics kind of fan, it's more of a sports nerd at that point)
People get called dorks for being socially awkward. You can be a nerd AND a dork if you're a socially awkward nerd, but on the flip side, if you're not socially awkward while being a nerd, you can be a nerd in a way that isn't necessarily a stigma. It's rare to have a sports dork, because being on a team or following a team usually has a certain level of social acceptance built into it.
It's harder to be a geek without also being a dork, because of the obsession over generally unimportant trivia, but proper social/hobby balance can mitigate that issue.
There are also fandoms where the obsession with the trivia ends up carrying a certain level of academic requirement /interest to the field, such as star trek, hence why you sometimes still get Star Trek Nerds alongside Star Trek Geeks.
Now, there ARE a bunch of people who, when using these terms as insults, uses them completely interchangeably, but that's usually dumb kids who don't know better and wouldn't care if they did. They're just trying to insult someone, the details are unimportant. Just because you've heard the term used incorrectly doesn't mean that use is correct.

@Souven Tudu That doesn't really matter. I wrote Howard as the stalker since he's the most sex-obsessed of the group and typically the least educated overall. There's no doubt he's intelligent, just not as achieved as the others.
Raj is the dork since while he has obsessions, his are more normal than the others. He was the only one who wanted to sell a Lord of the Rings ring from the actual films in order to buy a jetski, showing he's less obsessed with the franchise than the others.
Leonard is the geek since he's the only person who has an otherwise easy time interacting with girls and super-famous celebrities. He's overcome most of his social anxiety and actually talks like a normal person to almost everyone he meets.
Sheldon is winning in every category. He has the highest IQ, the biggest obsession with all his goals and fandoms he's in, and he gets more unexpected thoughts from new people he talks to. It doesn't matter that he's more socially awkward than Howard overall since he can be more of a nerd than Howard is in either category.

Science fiction and computers should probably be removed from that list, or at least be given more nuance. Talking about obscure science fiction novels from the 1950s or programming in Assembly will get you called a nerd (much like e.g. being a curling fan will if you ask 90% of mainstream sports fans), but science fiction and computers, at least on a superficial and marketable level, have been solidly part of the mainstream for a generation or two now.
