The ridstar q20 is a really affordable 30mph amazon ebike, But how has it held up over the past 400+ miles?

Im 13 and thinking about buying this just because of a budget and i want to thank you for these reviews because my mom is now convinced and is willing to add some money in to help me buy it!
Hopefully you have fun with it man!
It's illegal to ride at 13 I think l, just to be sure check ur state laws
@@FrostySauce don’t worry I’m good in my state
@@ItzAstroPlaysfrom what I have researched you have to be at least 16 to ride these. It is a class 4 ebike which they consider as a moped, dirt bike or motorcycle.
Leave the kid alone it fine
This looks super fun, i already wanted an ebike but after your video it's official, im gettin one.

yes . thanks for taking the time to do this reviews. you sealed it, I got one on order. :) see you on the 1k mile.
Hope you enjoy it
How is it holding up so far?
Hi good choice showing how the bike performs after being used on a daily basis, also the mounting display bracket on my model - I removed a notch making it reverseable and was able to re mount it in a better position to read display. Good video info wise .
Thanks for going back for the snake, I would've done the same thing. FYI-when I was growing up if my brakes went out I use my foot on the back tire to slow it down, it works like a charm!
At 30mph+ you might burn through a shoe 😂
Time:45-51 that’s EXACTLY wut I need it for… and it’s so hard to find legitimate reviews on genuinely “affordable” E-bikes. Seems everyone’s idea of affordable is two months mortgage💀 I’m on probation with a revoked licenses n I need a practical source of transportation that’s not gonna cost me long term, or physically kill me… I’m ab 7 miles from my wrk(not crazy, but 9+ hours str8) n it’s a labor intensive job so not rlly trying to walk after work.. Anyway Thank u for a genuine down to earth review my guy, truly helped me more than u kno, there’s a lot, yet nothing as far as videos go with these e-bike reviews… if tha makes sense😂
Me too that’s why I’m looking for one
This video is perfect I been needing a commute bike but I'm kinda strapped for cash so this helps me so lot
There are cheaper ebikes
Something like the bike in the video tho that thing is like almost a thousand
@@illkid86no it’s not on Amazon it’s 540$
Mine is getting here tomorrow! Super excited upgrading from small little jetson
Is it still good?
How is it?
I don't even know why most these people have an account if they don't respond to other people who ask them questions?
Kind of a douchebag move if you ask me unless you're just here to boast
I think Im going to buy this right now, thankyou very much for making this video.
Please tell me if you found any problems with the battery. I want to buy it but I'm hesitant about the one star reviews hating on the battery
@@gameboy-gf4pc the batteries are fine, could you buy a better battery yes. However the battery has a BMS shut off including the charger itself, you can also safeguard by using a surge protector with a timer. I also bought the pro version with two batteries, I have to go 25+ miles or more to drain it even close to completely. You also have to charge them accordingly and turn them off when your not using them for battery health, it's all in the instructions.
Hello I have a question, when u keep the + electric gear up for like 3 second it says something on the screen what does that mean
I had mine bout same amount of time and just noticed a exposed wire on mine and don't know if it's always been like that it's the one going to back tire and threw the rubber nut on right side of bike just curious if yours is like that too or if it rubber on the wire came off thanks
Do you happen to know the reference for the brake pads, is it that I can't find them on the internet?
Good vid, I was researching this one, and u convinced me. I'm 280lbs so the dual motor/batt is for me lol. Also from Illinois
Enjoy it, the dual motor/battery looks badass
Looking for a good ebike for camping trips and this thing was on my maybe list, thx for the review
Check out the euybike s4 also. Has better suspension if you’re off road on your camping trips
@@ampedcycle thank you for the suggestion, I'll check it out.
@@ampedcycleI ended up ordering the eahora hedonic cupid, looking forward to getting out on the road when it arrives
First of all, thank you for your follow up video, it's great that you decided to that. Now, regarding the range. In theory, the range should be better if the bike is going fast. I know I know... seems counter intuitive, but hear me out.
Hub motors are most efficient at their top speed. If you are seeing less range on higher speeds, is simply because your route has a lot of stops and turns (where you need to break). In that context, yes, slower speeds give more range, but if we are talking about a straight line, I believe you get the most range on higher speeds. (and it makes quite a lot of sense regardless of the motor type if you think about momentum and how it affects range on higher and slower speeds. Of course momentum has something opposing it which is wind resistance. All in all tho, I believe that if there isn't too much of unnecessary breaking, the range should be about the same or even better on higher speeds)
as almost every elecrtic motor it takes way more power to accelerate than to keep the same speed
Thanks for this followup video, I've been looking for a cheaper ebike to commute to work and this is checking all the boxes. I just was concerned with how it would hold up. Can't wait for mine to come!
How is it,and which one did you get how many watts
How is it
How many watts
I have my ridstar h20 pro on the way and cant wait
How is it?
IT LOKKS AWOSOME!! But how height the seat to flood? Is it suit 5'3"?
Can the throttle be disabled? And just just PAS 5 to get around? In Ireland throttles are illegal now.
Is there a way I can over ride the soles limiter to make it faster
I’ve had these in my cart for 2 months. Finally ordered one for me and one for my daughter. Hopefully she likes it, she says they’re ugly 😂
Tell her to paint it girly it up I don't know how old she is but 30 miles an hour is fast
@@Sanesaint1 she will be 14 in a month. It’s kinda funny cuz her and her friend decided to try them, they drove all over for hours and didn’t wanna put them away. All it took was getting on it one time and now she loves it 😂
I'm 230lbs 6'0, and just got mine. Mine will give me around 30miles per charge(full throttle). However I have noticed that using PAS I'll get a LOT more range out of it. (Top unknown).
Does it run out of battery really fast at max speed?
@krackleee if youre using it balls to the wall(w/o pedaling), top speed holding it, it honestly lasts me what feels like an hour..that's when I notice the battery START to deplete. I've never once drained the battery completely but it gets me to work (10 miles) combining the throttle and pedals and back in one charge. It's really an amazing bike for the price. I've just about put 300 miles on it and the only issues I've had are the bolt holding the left pedal came lose a few times(never out completely) but just tighten it back up and it runs like a dream.
I'm about the same size as you and was wondering how it does going uphill. I don't know if the 1000W is enough or if I should get the 2000W
@hammerthor8259 while throttling it and pedaling(like on a bmx) it gets me up to 15mph. I go up a steep hill for about 2 mins straight
@@Chencho7613I’m thinking of getting one because the rollroad shark2.0 went out of stock is it a good and reliable bike ?
Would the ridstar pro be better for longer rides
I know somebody who's got this bike and here's a hint I know you said the pedals are a joke but if you use your pedals and actually helped it along specially at takeoff you'll get so many more miles you can at least add a by at least 7 to 10 just off doing that alone
What are you doing for break pads now?
Don't know if this would work for brake noise but on a car they use copper grease to stop squealing noises.....????
So can you switch from motor to pedaling?
@James Klymus can we get more ridstar content of you riding on trails please?
Please keep updating,
Wanna get one sooo bad, just off by like 200$ gonna save though. Can’t wait to get it broo
Did you get it?
@@smokeyone Nope I ended up in more debt 💀
Would this bike be better than the tamobyke v20
All I hear is great things about this bike I plan to get one what’s the weight requirement
love my ridstar. I only use the pedals to take off quicker. so far have 67 miles. Its been amazing to commute
is it good quality? Can you go through water?
How long does it take to charge?
Does it run up the electric bill?
Can anyone say whether this is meant for taller people like 6’5?
is this the 630$ one or 1500$ one?
Yo friend can you make videos of preparing them when something break
Im 13 and i gotta be 16 to get a class 4 bike i was wondering if u think cops will notice this as a class 4. i just wanted to get it to kinda itch my mini bike need yk
How tall do you have to be to ride it ?
Awesome bike .. I love my Ridstar!
Do you have a Q20
Wish they gave an option for a rear suspension
Very nice dude, im at 145 miles on mine, i did some mods, like i told u last video, put cool red flame stickers on the battery, and forks, got red platform pedals, painted the pegboard red, i got better grips, i bought a stem extender that was awesome raised the bars about 5" and got a pair of red handlebars, which are a bit longer and definitely cool looking, i did 13 miles one night, got in a quick rain storm, Got soaked, bike was perfectly fine, the nxt day did i think 17.6 miles and i ran that battery down! I had to pedal about the last mile home...it was doing about 9 mph, but i wanted to push it, i wouldn't recommend pedaling this bike especially when ur 6 ft or over like me, i love this bike, its awesome, ppl compliment me about it all the time, plus i live where its all flat. That definitely helps the battery life, we have great trails here, mostly kind of packed sand, ( i live at the beach) cruising around town is nice too, i ride to work, the headlight is really super bright as u said, I haven't had any problems with the shocks I'm will upgrade the rear shock eventually also, my only complaint would be the seat, not that it's uncomfortable it's just I'm not used to a seat like that my folding bike seat is so much more comfortable, I'm looking at a different seat I'm not sure which one will fit it though, I did buy one of those gel pad cushions it hasn't come yet hopefully that will help, it would be really cool if they made a seat extender for these bikes to raise it about 6 in would be perfect, good video man keep us updated I'm loving mine so far I would recommend this bike to anybody, and you're right if you're going to spend the money definitely get the 20 amp battery
Glad you’re enjoying yours
why wouldn't you recommend pedaling over 6ft?
Asking because I'm pretty long 6'5 and here in the Netherlands you are only allowed to use it if you use pedals
hey I was wondering what handlebars and grips you bought?
@@BranquiloYT for me personally you don't get enough leverage when you are on a smaller bike and can't extend your legs it's really cramped and kind of tough to Pedal, but that goes for any bike like this if you want a good extension get a seat post that can go up and down like on a mountain bike or a folding bike
thanks good info
I’m curious could you install a 52v battery on this to get alittle more speed? Or would it destroy the motor/controller?
As far as I know they’re both rated for 48v, so I don’t think that would work
30miles is on rollgas?
is it upgradeable?
Is there a link for replacement front tires or way to get one with a long enough axel bolt!? It was sent to me without being able to screw together my front tire because the middle bolt is too!😢
Don't use the shipping bolt that it came with. There's a quick release axle in the box that has the owner's manual, charger & tools in it.
this or the HAPPYRUN G60?
Can you turn it down to 24v? I have a Amyet v9-g60 which looks similar was 539 when I purchased it on Amazon a month ago. 27mph top speed GPS no matter the voltage settings.
But I can definitely feel the acceleration difference and at 24v it's totally fine for me and the range is at least 50 plus miles easy just as long as Im not motorcycling all the time.
I do ride a bigger dual battery cargo bike as well.
I ordered the dual motor, dual battery one. Is the brake noise issue out of the box or only when the brake pads are wearing out?
your probably better off just replacing the calipers and rotors to get generic pads
So you broke the brakes in without breaking them in
Idk if I'll get a response but I'm planning on getting this and it's on sale rn, I wanna get it on prime day but that's not the point. I want to use this for my commute to work but I've scoured Amazon for the reviews and I've seen the most common one-star review being about the battery. Now Grant said there's a lot more five star reviews in comparison to the one star reviews but all of them have the exact same commonality. And that is at the battery just doesn't charge or doesn't fit properly. I'm wondering if this is user error, as in people who don't know how to properly place the battery in or they take it out and damage it in a weird way. Or the battery is poorly made. Can anyone confirm or deny about the battery?
I’ve never had an issue with the battery after 700+ miles and off roading regularly. Have also had it in pouring rain
Hi, do you know where to find brake pads? Thank you!
From ridstars eBay store
do you know anything about the q20 pro dual motor model of this bike? Im consdiering getting it
It’s cool, but I don’t think it’s as good of a value as the q20. For the $2000 price point I’d rather have something like the wired freedom. I’ve also heard you don’t get much more range with the dual battery dual motor
@@ampedcycle yeah the wired freedom is cool but shipping for it is 250 plus it’s a preorder. I also like the motercycle style of this. Plus the dual motors should make the acceleration much faster right? That’s the biggest thing for me
i've been looking into getting this bike, but a question i have is what do you personally recommend to use for a helmet and gloves?
For a helmet I’ve been using an xnito helmet which I have a review of on the channel, for gloves I have some random old motorcycle gloves and some insulated ones for cold weather
@@ampedcycle thank you!
I got one on the way and am pretty stoked to see how it is compared to my last E-bike. My current E-bike no longer has support for it and I cracked the entire rear rim.. looking forward to a new ride!
How much was it
@jessicamendez2279 the old one was $600 and the new one is about $950
cool forks
I'm Leaning Towards getting a E-bike on a budget, but I'm about 6'1. So would it be comfortable for someone as tall as me?
I think youd fit fine, Only thing is pedaling might not be comfortable
What do you think about leaving it in a shed with freezing temperatures? Doesn't seem like it would be good for the electronics and battery
Those temps probably aren't good for the electronics, Especially the battery. But you can probably get away with storing the bike in the shed, And the battery inside. I had to do that with one of my bikes last winter and it was fine.
@@ampedcycle Thanks for the reply. Are you able to take the display screen off the bike?
I live in the same general area as you and just ordered one of these. Are you getting hassled by authorities at all? And do we need registration?
I've never had any issues with police, I've only had people on a regular bike try to give me a hard time haha. You don't need registration, as far as i know, out here
Bought the ridstar a couple days ago and it came charged. Now it’s close to dead and the charger doesn’t work do you know how I could fix it
I would hit up their support
@@ampedcycle thanks I contacted the seller but they haven’t responded yet
Hi, which one is better Ridstar Q20 or Jansno X50 and why!? Thanks
Check out the video where the guy compares like 8 models and I think the Q20 is best. It’s the only one that comes with a key to lock it, and hydraulic brakes, not mechanical breaks. Also has a more powerful battery / with longer run time.
You can search “Jansno X50 Vs Ridstar Q20 vs “
Does it come with 30mph speed or do u have to unlock it or smtn
Mine did 30 out of the box, some of the videos I watched had to be unlocked though
Hey, what would u think about the pro version? Thanks for the great vids
Its cool but i think there are better value bikes out there
@@ampedcycle for sure, I'm definitely looking for this in the EU. It's a little difficult to get some there, Amazon basically doesn't deliver bikes here. I was thinking about the hills I need to climb on my route. Do u have any suggestion? Today I have a Kukirin G2 MAX, an electric scooter, with 1000w that simply goes 5kmh going up that road and I need to pedal. But I think with an E-bike pedal on this hill will be easier and I'll probably can climb it with the normal Q20, what u think? Thanks and great videos tbh, watching them for the 2x time.
@@ampedcycle And wich ones?
@@A.grauer Amyet S8. Only has one 48v battery but is 2 1000w motors for around $1300 vs ~$2000 for the q20 pro
Can you take the display screen off the bike or is it permanently attached?
U can remove it
Hey you should get a helmet cam videos would be much better
Could you put the brake pad link up?
www.ebay.com/itm/134661226791
Problem is, that very soon like a duracell battery, it will die. The ride times will only get shorter and the charge time will get longer. How much is a replacment battery?
What makes you say that? I have 700 miles on this battery and I still get 25+ miles of range just like I did when it was new
I’m 5’10 and 200 pounds I live in nyc if I get this e bike would it be a good idea, I’m only using it to do UberEats deliveries
Something with a back rack might be better for deliveries
I have a nice size insulated bag
What was the link you used to purchase it?
amzn.to/3QeU5ay
Hopefully you can also do a review on the euy ebike s4 overall I like the reviews on this ebike as well
I’ll see if I can get it in the channel. Sounds similar to this bike but with a 25ah battery
I’m 12 and I need to get to school obviously it is 15 minutes away do u think I will be able to make it there and back and also how easy is it to charge the battery
Yes you would
@@organicintelligence6431 thanks
Also doesn't the cheaper version have mechanical brakes? So yeah this version is wayyyy better
Bro, my bike is same as yours but an step above 😂 reaches 37 mph it has a 2000W dual motor, and has a range of 75 miles just throttle and 180 miles in assist mode. I paid $2400 if you're wondering
NOTE: Mine really is fast and powerful, it goes from zero to 35 in just 3 seconds
I live in Missouri on 20 acres and we have snakes galore.
Snakefarm... Just sounds nasty... Look up the song Snake Farm
Really curious how it would feel as a plus size woman. My commute is only 2 miles to work. The walk to the office from the parking garage takes longer on foot than the drive from home lol I wish I could find one like it in store to try out
Thanks for the in depth review! And the ride looks amazing. Love the different terrains
Can you upgrade the battery to make it faster ?
You could but you’d also have to upgrade the controller and the motor
Your link are out of stock
Does it require a motorcycle license to ride this e-bike? Thanks!
Yes
I’m 6 ft would this bike be comfortable for me
To ride yes, to pedal a lot, probably not
Can you send info on how to add another battery and what to buy
B Rich has a good video on this ruclips.net/video/Z7i8O1BFJdc/видео.htmlsi=Xfnew5Vqj9vTwtzv
With the garbage truck brakes i have the same on my normal bike but it just stopped after a while
I feel like the GT 20 on Amazon is really good too for a communal and somewhat budget friendly
thats literally 1699 bike? wtf are on
do you think someone 5’3 can ride??
It said 5’4 and up
Is it 1000w motor ?
How’s the customer service experience?
Haven’t had any issues where I needed to contact ridstar. Overall experience, the only thing that could have been better is a faster shipping time
How's it still holding up
Almost 700 miles going strong
How is it on hills?
It’s pretty good, I recommend peddling halfway up to get an extra boost
im over 2k kph its clapped need new back tire and its not to bad tho
Yo do you need a license to use this e-bike?
How many watts is it
1000
okay bros. would you actually buy this if you had to peddle it all the time? Throttles are illegal here in Ireland and i need to peddle only. Is the peddle assist good? im hoping it has a cadence sensor so i can glide easy..
You are an absolute sham
Is it waterproof?
Is it weaponized?
My throttle isn't doing anything I need help
is this waterproof??
Ive ridden in the rain a few times and its been fine
Do you need a license to ride it
depends, most states you dont i would look up your states laws
Don’t full brake going full speed lmfao I flipped and went to the hospital and missed a week of work 🤣🤣🤣
Can you tell me your height
please answer me becouse i think to buy same bike ":) thank you so much
Are you still riding this?
Yes over 700 miles on it
@@ampedcycle did the stock tires handle that many miles and is it easy to find replacement parts?
