The brake noise you hear is the pads scraping the rotor. It will disappear after a few more miles of wear-in.
You can use a rubber strip as a shim in between the handlebar and mount to get the phone holder to secure better.
I have this model and I’m happy with it. It tops out around 27mph but that’s plenty fast for a bike. The low end torque is great on grassy trails and mild off road. It also climbs hills really quite well. I’m 6’1” and 180lbs

The battery on the Ridstar is fine. You only have loss because of the seasons. With one battery you easily can drive 60km with speeds between 30 and 50km/per hour, without pedaling. With pedaling it probably doubles. You always can add an extra battery to the Ridstar, because there's room for it.

I've owned this model for a month. And I have one major issue with it, mine refuses to go over 26 mph no matter what the settings are set to.
I would recommend to verify your onboard speedometer with a GPS app on your phone. With mine when it says it's going 28 mph it's only really going 26. I've reached out to the manufacturer and they made some changes, later shipments are getting a weaker motor/controller. Early releases could actually reach a real 30 mph.

As far as taking it up and down stairs, I did that with mine for a few weeks and I decided to rent a garage in my apartment building. It’s doable, but I wouldn’t want to be doing it every day. Every now and then with new products, Amazon will sell item or advertise item of 40 to 50% off original intended price. Its why its always good to browse an item like ebikes for once you pay of process Amazon has to sell item as priced no matter a mistake or not. Just make habit of browsing Amazon every now and then and be ready to grab that reduced possible data entry mistake.
