►I can only use the title Pokemon in battle. No switching at all, HM Pokemon are required.
►No use of items in battle. Potions, TMs, etc. are allowed outside of battle.
►No use of skips/exploits. This includes the Pokedoll Marowak skip. Badge boost is unavoidable.
►The TMs for Double Team and Toxic are banned. Pokemon that learn similar moves naturally are allowed to use it but not the TM.
►I play on x3 speed and use the in-game time for the run along with resets to rank these runs.

Being gen 1, you could still use Wrap on Agatha and trap her forever but it just wouldn't do any damage lol.

Dratini was warping up this run with a big smile on it's face, because it only looks like a good pokemon,theoretically.
Cheesing with warp strats throughout most of the game makes the battles slower,but keep of possible. Unlike Tentacurl, Dratini doesn't have a lot of speed of stats so it could bank on warp safely.😊 But they both having in common is a badge boosting moves to thier weakest stat,which made the run more interesting than it should have been .
For a slow pokemon with a slow growth rate, F tier is not that bad.😮
I really like how you're putting thought into the little details, I really liked the sprite for the overlay and thumbnail looks awesome as usual.
Yea it was an interesting run. If Agatha wasn't a thing or if it got access to EQ or Psychic, maybe it could move up a full tier and be more respectable but Yellow version and the ability to take Sub from Gengar made it feel alright. I had a lot of fun and learned a good bit from this one though, which is more than you can say about a lot of runs.
Dratini was weird for the thumbnail. There's not much 'cool' official art or cute stuff so I went with something basic. I figured there'd be something really cute to draw but here we are lol.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 Dratini really needed earthquake or even dig for Agatha,but I guess that ice beam is enough, because you can always fish for the freeze, even though it's really luck based.
It seems like you've learned a lot , because you've optimized it as much as possible, especially with the timing the TM usage and the right kind of optional battles you would need for Agatha.🤔
Dratini was really adorable there , I guess that even though you have been using a generic pose ,it still works really well in terms of composition and the credit goes to you for creating it.🫡
Yea I feel like any Pokemon even as high as the B tier has the same problem. You just wish it had one or two more moves lol. 5/10 run, 10/10 cuteness.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 Yup, you've summed it up in a very accurate way,'the too much moves syndrome'.
In general any pokemon with 2 choices of badge boosting moves can have that issue in general or those who wish to have move flexibility in terms of TMs like in gen 5. 🤔

Yea, all psuedos are similar. High price to get a rare mon. I don't mind it too much but I think it being in the slow leveling group and taking a while is the point.

Now I think for the mons with wrap Lickitung is surprisingly underrated for Gen 1 since can eventually transition into using Swords Dance or use its special coverage.
Yea two badge boosting moves and a great TM set. Kind of slow though. I think Tentacruel is easily the best of the bunch or Dragonite though.

I feel like access to the trilogy of ice electric and water coverage should make dratini slay late game. After Brock u good. Wrap should make some things easier
The Brock split really wasn't terrible. Dratini just has a bit of a slow pace. The run itself was fine but it just lacks that firepower and oomph.

You didn’t spend several hours executing and reexecuting a tedious run to chase the luck required to get a level 53 Agatha, preventing Dratini from achieving its full potential and rising to the grand height of “pretty mid”? FOR SHAME!!! My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined!

Ha. Sometimes I’ll do risky routes for fun Pokémon but spending an hour or more getting to Agatha more than a few times sounds AWFUL.

Wrap is a legit move in Gen 1. I really liked how you finessed it throughout this run! This was a fun run to watch.
Yea! Even the Brock split wasn't awful but its just a low stat Pokemon and Wrap is a little slow but it didn't have too much trouble. I fumbled a little on Lorelei but 10+ resets on a 4 hour run is par for the course.

It's a shame that Dratini doesn't get Dragon Rage earlier, like around level 10 or even 20. Definitely wouldn't help late game, but might make the early game go by a little quicker. Just goes to show that Gen 1 movesets really are something.
Yea dragon rage at the start would be great. You could essentially ignore the early early training and battle stronger opponents to make up for it later but it was a really informative run.

It isn't too often we see the move used to defeat the first Pokemon in the game being the same move used to beat the last Pokemon in the game. Wrap was the MVP of the run.
It'll be interesting to see how Dratini does in Gen 2 when it actually gets some STAB moves and Dragon Rage is learned at level 22.

Love the shiny for sure. The shiny Dragonair is a top 10 shiny for me with the gold ‘balls’ on it.

@@GymLeaderMatt1987 no kidding. It’s a massive stat stick but it has basically the same problems as dratini, especially four move slot syndrome. You’re right about learning things about Pokémon from playing the runs, I really think that’s the fundamental question of solo running.
Yea it'll likely be forever before I make it to that one but tentative looks tell me it'll be keeping wrap, not daring to take a single hit from Cloyster/Dewgong, then setting up on Slowbro.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 oof, yeah that 4x ice weakness is a real problem. Maybe it will have enough speed that you can drop agility for thunder bolt and still be able to wrap most things? Base 80 isn’t bad and 100 special is pretty solid
@@GymLeaderMatt1987I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised about how good dragonite is after optimization. There’s an alternate path to drop wrap in the midgame and play the late game with agility

@@GymLeaderMatt1987 truth! I think Axew would be the best first stage dragon in Gen 1 because it naturally learns dragon dance and sword dance and it has a slightly higher base stat total than Dratini and most of the others.

I've been dabbling with Koffing but that'll be in a bit. I just had a newborn not too long ago so production has slowed down but I probably won't do a Rocket theme. Just some old fashioned optimized runs lol.

Dratini is the only Pokémon who is a basic Pokémon that evolves that learns hyper beam leveling up
To be fair, if you don’t count the Dratini line as 3 separate Pokémon, only 4 Pokémon learn it period.
