      And thats a fucking fact
      Dragon ball
      Bleach
      Naruto
      One piece
      Jujutsu kaisen
      Hunter hunter
Name a fucking anime he's probably helped or was inspiration for it not just anime games too
Chrono trigger (he left a message for his kids in that game)
      Final fantasy
And the most well know of his was his designs in dragon quest
Mexicos love of him is well know
But China is a huge fan of dragon ball since its based on journey to the west (a very good Chinese story)
And I think the black community can attest to how much they love goku without my help all and all he is responsible for more good in this world then bad he was the goat

    • @corey2232
      @corey2232 6 месяцев назад +9

True, but even without the bad 4Kids Dub, I don't think One Piece would've caught on like Naruto & Bleach.
It's a lot sillier (which wasn't "cool" in the West), episodes drag out with poor pacing & animation tricks meant to save on time & money, and the main character being a guy who is stretchy doesn't quite connect like "Ninja possessed by ultra powerful demon fox" or "High school guy becomes powerful soul reaper who slays hollows."
Obviously, that's just an opinion & I could be totally wrong. I'm one of the few that watched OP through the 1,000+ episodes. But it was always hard to convince friends to pick it up given the high episode count.

In my opinion, the reason One Piece didn't get the huge popularity in the west is OP was always in demands and you can't buy enough anything in the west. Just look up OP manga sold in its early years. The sold amount is crazy. The current OP popularity is still nothing compare with it's peak time.

Bleach is definitely a huge influence due primarily to its influence on other mangaka, JJK for example is heavily influenced by Bleach as is Demon Slayer and Black Clover. The big three in general are probably collectively amongst the most integral series to the popularization of Anime over here in the west as together not only did they influence some of the most beloved modern series but they each represented a different niche and through that showed how diverse the medium of anime can be as a whole.

I got into anime due to 4kids and a friend who recommended me manga and anime. One of the first anime I watched, knowing it was anime, was Sailor Moon back in middle school around 15 years ago. It had a huge impact on many people as well. I would go as far as to say that Sailor Moon had an almost equal impact as Dragon Ball in the west. It influenced me and changed my life. I grew up in a religiously strict household, so I ended up watching Christian anime when I was younger, like Superbook and The Flying House, so what I watched as a kid was a bit different than most others. But I would secretly watch anime and read manga at libraries and bookstores such as Borders back in the day.

To add to 1 thing - DragonBallZ and Sailor Moon both aired on Toonami - having one show aimed at a traditional teen girl and one for teen guys also helped bringing stuff over and opened up for more variety.

What I'd definitely recommend for everyone, especially those that are relatively new to the medium, is Shirobako. It's not something for people that's fresh new to anime, but if you've experienced the medium for at least a two years or so, then you should watch it.
While it starts pretty slow and can feel weird between how grounded yet outlandish it can be, it's something that adds one's appreciation for the medium with how much works and suffering that goes into the production of even cheap disposable anime.
But even without that, it's just a great character drama that isn't afraid of being whimsical sometimes and very honest the other times. I personally related the most to Shizuka, as the anime came during a major transitional period in my life, but as a whole I have to say it has helped me in coping with the reality of life as a working adult.
I may consider Madoka Magica as the best anime of all time, but Shirobako will always be my favorite anime.

I got into and loved anime since the 90s. Later, I remember when I told someone I liked anime they thought I liked hentai.😮‍💨 And there was only a small group of us anime lovers. Now, every Halloween, there's a bunch of kids dressed up as an anime character. And wearing anime print clothing (tees & hoodies).
Would like to add Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist, Inuyasha, Akira, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, Toradora, Natsume Book of Friends, Kaichou wa Maid Sama, Fruits Basket, School Rumble, Ouran HS Host Club, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, Black Clover, Shield Hero, Hero Academia, etc.

Naruto aired during the day as well. I remember seeing Naruto in his orange jumpsuit while flipping through channels in the 00s. I wasn’t watching Toonami yet and I didn’t know what anime even was yet. I wasn’t watching the show back then, but I remember it was usually an early episode with Naruto and Konihamaru. The 3rd Hokage’s grandson. It might’ve played after school around 4pm or maybe in the mornings like Pokémon. I remember seeing it at both times, I think. Whenever Yugioh, Bakugan, Beyblade type anime would play.

The reason Anime is popular is large one of things said. They have mature themes, and I don't mean "sex." The ones focused on that....that genre needs to be flashed away like a memory in MIB. What I mean is they focus on universal truths, human struggles, and understanding of our shared desires. The struggles between good and evil, and often offers an ideal that characters strive to uphold. The sincerity of their humanity is very different for our internet calloused world, but it still resonates with our hearts and souls because the views, the struggles, the triumphs, and falls. Are all things we can empathize with and share in. In the west where are the adult shows that deal with even a fraction of the depth that anime delves into. We aren't even creating original movies. Our writers are all political activist with no valuable life experience outside of their bubbles.

Hey! Gen-X here and I do have to inform you that there is some of us who started watching anime in the late 70s. Even though it wasn't mainstream like the ones today. There was Speed Racer,Battle of the Planets & Star Blazers. As a kid to me those were unique in animation style unlike the Saturday cartoons. Later on it Pokémon & Sailor Moon. However when Toonami came along it was a pivotal moment that I became more obsessed with anime. Yes there was DBZ,but it was Tenchi Muyo,Rurouni Kenshin & Cowboy Bebop that caught my attention. Then later it Yu Yu Hakusho,Inu Yasha,DBZ,Bleach,Naruto,DragonBall Super & now My Hero Academia. Of course there is other anime I'd like to mention, but I figure I stay on topic. 😅

I grew up in the 70s and 80s and even we had anime even back then. Sadly it was never really advertise as such. I grew up watching shows such as Speed Racer, Battle of the Planets, Robotech and Voltron. I still enjoy watching anime today; an enjoyment that I have passed on to my son. Some of my newer favorites include: One Piece, My Hero Academia, Cowboy Bebop and Kiju No. 8. Honestly I don't think I will ever stop watching anime; I find the art work and story telling very engaging. Let it be known that I don't just watch anime though. I do watch other shows such as Stranger Things, Major Crimes and Star Trek. I like all kinds of shows as long as it has a good engaging story line.

Wano arc had fire animation. One piece is just such a long running series that the animations get buffed up eventually, esp after saboady, then id say again at wano dramatically. Looking at early episodes is crazy but brings nostalgia like no show could. Ive rewatched it like 6 times now, most the time after i put someone else on the show or when im just caught up and take a break for too long, gives the series a chance to catch up. Plus the world building is insane to look back on, you start connecting dots like every time you rewatch it and get further.
