- Documentary on NBA bad boy, infamous Dennis Rodman: Beyond the Glory.
Dennis Keith Rodman (born May 13, 1961) is a retired American Hall of Fame professional basketball player, who played for the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, and Dallas Mavericks in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Born in Trenton, New Jersey, he was nicknamed "The Worm" and was known for his fierce defensive and rebounding abilities.
Rodman played at the small forward position in his early years before becoming a power forward. He earned NBA All-Defensive First Team honors seven times and won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award twice. He also led the NBA in rebounds per game for a record seven consecutive years and won five NBA championships. His biography at NBA.com states that he is "arguably the best rebounding forward in NBA history." On April 1, 2011, the Pistons retired Rodman's No. 10 jersey, and he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame later that year.
Rodman experienced an unhappy childhood and was shy and introverted in his early years. After aborting a suicide attempt in 1993, he reinvented himself as a "bad boy" and became notorious for numerous controversial antics. He repeatedly dyed his hair in artificial colors, had many piercings and tattoos, and regularly disrupted games by clashing with opposing players and officials. He famously wore a wedding dress to promote his 1996 autobiography Bad As I Wanna Be. Rodman pursued a high-profile affair with singer Madonna and was briefly married to actress Carmen Electra.
Apart from basketball, Rodman is a retired part-time professional wrestler and actor. He was a member of the nWo and fought alongside Hulk Hogan at two Bash at the Beach events. He had his own TV show The Rodman World Tour, and had lead roles in the action films Simon Sez and Double Team alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme. Both films were critically panned, with the latter earning Rodman a triple Razzie Award. He appeared in several reality TV series and was the winner of the $222,000 main prize of the 2004 edition of Celebrity Mole. Rodman won the first ever Celebrity Championship Wrestling tournament. - Спорт
Love him or hate him
He brought life into the game
And gave 100% when he played
No matter the team.
Honestly? The biggest, most unique star the NBA has ever seen! And also in my top 10 of all time.
Yeah, Rodman isn’t an idiot. Dude, Dennis Rodman seems like one of the realest people out there. One of the greatest players of all time and he might just keep our asses from getting nuked one day.
You may have been right haha!
He was used by the CIA to do a recon before Trump would move in.
Defensive player of the century material
If Rodman out of country that's when Americans should panic lol
Facts.
most interesting player ever. what a diverse life
He’s definitely interesting.
Dennis: "I don't give a damn"Phil Jackson: "welcome to the Chicago bulls"
Love that quote lmao, didn't ask how much money just.... Phil: " Do you want to be a Chicago Bull?" Dennis: "I don't give a damn" hahaha
His friendship with the 11 year old and his family had to be the most wholesome thing ever.
Yeah that was a really cool story
So much love for Dennis, one of the best player ever lived and a fragile man out of the court, i hope the best for him. Many people love you Dennis, take care.
95-98 best years of my life...not just because of the bulls and michael and dennis and scottie and phil, but because it was my youth...greetings from germany
I can relate to Dennis. I'm the same way I care too much for people and when they up and leave I don't recover and move on like a lot of people.
Exactly that struck a nerve with me
Michelle McDonald y’all too? Fucked me up when I heard that
Yall some clingy mofackas
@@ktrsh nah man it shows you have heart and care.
Damn me to. I'm the exact same way.
Man, Rodman at the Bulls was a time I'd never forget. It was beyond awesomeness
I think Dennis Rodman is one of the most talented, colorful, smart and innovative athletics of all time. He started the trend with wearing different color hair and designs before any athletics did it. He was criticized 30 years ago. Now all the athletics have different color hair and it is acceptable. He was just as popular as michael jordan because everyone wanted to see what he was going to wear, color of hair or what he would do at games. He made tons of money outside of basketbal because of his creativity. Donald Trump said he was the smartest sportsperson he knew. He knew how to make tons of money doing unusual things. I read his autobiograpy and it was by far the best autobiography I read. Like Madonna said (his coach who told him how to make money)
The more your name is in the media, especially negative. You can cry all the way to the bank and get all your money. Overloooked innovative person of last 30 years, especially in changing the face of sports. I never thought I would see athletics with different color hair and other styles. Dennis did it 30 years ago.
No my friend he didnt start that trend this guy who played football for the sooners did but i will say Goldman did it like 1000x better lol
When he signed with the Spurs, during the press conference to announce the signing. Dennis said he would average 0 pts. per game. One of a kind.
THE GREATEST REBOUNDER OF ALL TIME!!! ROBIN ALIAS RODMAN.
One of a greatist
Bulls should RETIRE jersey no91 !!! i hope they will do that rodman desrve that
Fuck yea he does, without question. Idk how that hasn't happened yet. He's a legend. I become a fan of his more and more the more I learn and see about him.
@MANCHESTER UNITED
bc its the cheapest.
I'll take a dunk over a strike every damn day of the week.
no they shouldnt........... as good as dennis was he only played with them for 3-4 years......thats not merely enough for a person to be honored with a retired number otherwise all numbers would be retired if they keep doing it for everyone......
Dennis rodman should have been the 1996 NBA finals mvp, people really forgot that Michael Jordan and Scottie pippen underperform due to the sonics perimeter defense, Michael Jordan actually averaged below 30 points per game which was actually the only NBA finals that ever happened, Dennis Rodman's rebounds made the difference, he got robbed
yeah that could have definetly went either way between michael or dennis for 1996 finals mvp
Dennis Rodman the G.O.A.T. Best defender and best rebounder to ever play the game and not to mention that he's a great passer as well, more than that people give him credit for. #Respect
Rodman is one of the greats!
Dont understand the hate people are showing here. He went from being an immature and self centered person to growing up and taking controll of his life. That must've been extremely hard to change his life completetly. People who call him an idiot and so on have obviously never had big problems in their life or made major changes.
people will always be quick to harshly judge celebrities and forget about their own life and how they used to be and how they changed. Its almost like celebrities are idolized so much many people forget at the end of the day they're human too.
Dennis seems like a real cool guy, he played the game real hard and he is considered one the better rebounders in the history of the game
And defenders.. and if not the best rebounders dude had hustle like no other.. Jordan wouldn’t have won without that nigga
@@drefore2642No disrespect to Dennis, i Love That Man and I'm A Bulls Fan But, Jordan Had already won 3 chips without Dennis, They All needed each other
Who's watching this after ESPN'S "THE LAST DANCE". Seems that we are so thirsty for some sports. Damm you Corona virus!!!!
Victor Lopez me
👍
🙋🏻
I'm a die hard Bulls fans and i didn't like Dennis when he was a pistols, but i fell in love with him when he became a Bull. And if your mom still having a problem hugging you, I'll be glad to give you a big hug because I'm not a mother. You're the GREATEST rebounder in NBA HISTORY. I love ❤❤ you Dennis, aka worm🐛
Dennis Rodman. IS one man I always tried to be like and play like. I'm a very misunderstood person as well. No one understood me in my life expect for my grandma and she left me man. shes gones with tears in my eyes no one will ever understand me like her. BUT my escape in this life was playing sports or doing anything and i never cared what anyone thought I just did what ever I Was doing the best i could blood sweat tears what ever it takes. Grandma always told me. WHAT EVER YOU DO IN THIS LIFE... you do it to the very best of your ability. And I still strive with that at anything in life. I miss her so much Thank you Dennis for all the years.
man, from 5'9 to 6'8 at 20, goddamn
I hope I can do that too
FRFR WHAT DA FUQ WAS THIS NIGGA EATING STRAIGHT ROCKET FUEL
Lot of masturbation helped.
Didn't work for me...lol
do u know what age he stopped? hoping to grow at 21
This was great to revisit Rodman. Growing up a die hard Bulls fan living in the burbs of Chicago all thru the 90s, we loved this man. This was a good reminder on why.
Glad he changed his life & I've been clean myself for 14yrs. Much respect to Dennis💪🙏
They ain't talking about his time in the pistons enough
Bro he was brutal, bad boy pistons knockin scottie down and shit lol
@@TheJanemba999 gara@
Yeah man, alot documentaries focus more on the shitty aspects if a person compared to the greatness. Rodman was amazing on the pistons
WHEN IT COMES TO REBOUNDING I'D TAKE "THE WORM" HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!
Rodmans resume of the players he played with and coaches that coached him, holy shit
Michael C what
Michael C it's crazy impressive. Really one of a kind
Michael C
any mofo in any paper pushing or any state maggot job or dirty job
would like a part of this
great story!!! stay strong dennis!!
He used a lot of style so that they can see him,it stand for something (NBA Back to back Defensive Player of the Year + consecutive Rebounder King + a couple of Championship rings and a Hall of Famer. He supposed to be a member of the Dream Team.My favorite basketball player Dennis Rodman#91.
respect. what an athlete
I didn't always agree with what did off the court, but on the court...NOBODY played harder than he did. All heart, 100 mph.
I respect Dennis Rodman....always will. He is an individual, you've gotta give him that much. Not a follower.
Greatest rebounder I've ever seen!
LEGEND!
I've always loved this man he is a legend in our time ...in 1994 I named my first dog a beagle I named him RODMAN lol
If you're a kid and you're not exactly good at scoring the basketball, just think of Dennis rodman he became a superstar without scoring
I will forever love you #Rodman . Much Respect. 💜💜💜
(NO one understands you when your misunderstood, abandoned and betrayed. I get you. I've been there. It's an eternal pain) 🤗🤗🤗😔😙😙😙
I don't consider him an idiot, he's human, wears his heart on his sleeve, did it his way. Sinatra's song "I did it my way" could have been written for him.....and he's STILL doing it. Who else gets invited to North Korea? If you take the time to look past the exterior, the masks he wears, there is a child guiding him. The child that will always live in his heart. You'll always be one of my heroes Mr. Rodman. I can't think of anyone else who is more true to themselves.
Man mastered his trade. Respect
Man, myth & legend
People forget that he was one of the ultimate team players. Him and Kevin Garnett are my favorite players and I am from Philadelphia and have seen Dr. J live. Who is probably in the top 5 all time players ever.
When he got an assist and the player scored you could see his exuberance at the score. It was never about the money it was about the game and his teammates.
Maurice Jones he's willing to sacrifice his body just to get a rebound or save a loose ball... he's like KG without the scoring madness
Amen, and greatest rebounder ever. This man would've died for you on the court, you don't see that much nowadays.
he invented the word lit 🔥
My favorite player
....love him💯
This guy and this attitude were an inspiration to me as a kid!
One of his greatest legacy's, is that whether you grew up with a father or not , each man must forge his own journey, be your own man, find your niche and see it through to the end.
i love how they respected him in chicago after that bad team in san antonio.
I was 11 years old when I saw him at Cedar Point. I called his name and waved, he gave me the go away hand gesture; he didn’t want to be bothered lol
Where People see crazy I see Genius...
If I had an offer to meet the president of USA and Dennis Rodman , What ball would I bring to be signed, he's my favorite player in the court, and he just enjoy being what ever the F**k he want
It's actually pretty incredible, most professional sports players especially basketball players were street kids who got saved by the sport. I see Rodman as a rockstar/rapper type who instead of just got saved by the rap game or music or basketball he was actually talented enough to get to do both. He was great enough to get the dream fulfillment as a pro basketball player and got to be a rock star. In most people's lives like him it's that they just get one or the other. He got both.
THE BEST PLAYER EVER!!!
The greatest rebounder,, the defense and offense,, 5 times nba title 1 piston and 1 spurs 3 rings,,the bulls,, and he is now BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT HE IS SUCCESS NOW HALL OF FAME,,
RODMAN IS A KING !!
His former bodyguard was very articulate.
Fantastic athletic skills and talent. He had it all but he never understood how to use it or control it.
Watching Dennis rodman grews goose bump on my body
Amazing documentary love the insight and rawness of Rodman.
Took the red pill I'm so happy he live a legend.
To some extent, he's like Michael Jackson. A Genius that is a Child forever
John Lewis
Profound statement
Cept he ain't got a thing for lil boys
He never had a thing for lil boys 🤡 but his parents had a thing for a lil money. Even one of the accusers came out many years later and did a interview anonymously and said his parents lied and put him up to it so they could get paid and it worked. Him and his parents took the money and paid for his four year college tuition and took the other millions they had and splurged @RockstarGamer57
The thing about Rodman was he was so great at his unique skillset. He was someone that no team could replace.
Thoroughly enjoyed this!
I loved watching this guy playing basketball
I did the Running of the Bulls same year as him. Didn't realise until I went to the photo booths where you look for yourself. I did the biggest double take and had to check several times before I believed it was Rodman! I don't know why I was surprised though. Wild man.
Very interesting to see how he friended with an 11 years old local boy... My favorite Chicago Bulls time was when Dennis was on the club.
Rodman is one of a kind great basketball player and individual. Hope him well, he looks like he is doing pretty good.
I was looking for #DennisRodman documentary after watching #TheLastDance as I couldn't get over the cool Chicago Bulls docu as of yet. #DennisRodman is the epitome of confident self-expression. I was so fascinated by his ever-changing hair color growing up in the 90s! 😍
One of the craziest and most respectable stats DR has is he went a stretch of 5 years straight where he played 82 games each. 5 years without missing a game is crazy.
His mom said she didn't have time to hug her kids. It only takes a few seconds to do. Surely time can be set aside to show some kind of affection to your kids.
Mark Scott damn u shut the nigga up hard he hasn't replied in 6 months
I guess she was working herself down to the bone where she had nothing left. Do I understand this? No, like I heard somewhere: it only takes a few seconds to hug your kids.
Mark Scott some black moms don’t show love in that way.. they show love by just taking care of you, working two and three jobs to make sure you have everything you need.. weird something I never will understand why they do this but they do.. but you still will love your mom because and dad no matter if they was this way.. doesn’t make sense though..
His mom was an asshole. He even alludes to it in his HOF Induction speech. Not having a dad and having a mom who won't even hug you would really F a kid up. I feel for Rodman, what a flawed but inspiring person.
KoreanRambo deleted his post.. haha well done Mark Scott!!!
Amazing God Bless you and your family Dennis 🙏❤️🏀
The most honest athletic, he is a legend
Favorite player ever
Your a good guy bro just Keep your head up god bless
Awesome!!
Awesome to see him doing so well
Rodman is the man forever
I am from Germany...
Everyone was on the Jordan bandwagon. And Jordan and Pip brought me to the game tbh, BUT I was hunting for another jersey! The #91 was my man AND STILL IS!!!
Dennis was my role model... I was different, too. Like him... And he showed me, that its important to love yourself and give a fuck about what others think of you, as long as you dont step over certain lines, which he never crossed, just like me, too.
I am so grateful to have witness the man that Dennis Rodman is!!!
Nothing but love for D-ROD!!!
Forget the rebounds...dude had Carmen Electra. Legend.
@Lucy in the Sky and Madonna
My Dude 👊🏾💯💯
If you got Jordan calling you one of the smartest players ever you gotta be a BAD dude straight up.
Great story! You can always overcome!
Big Rodman fan, from the Bad Boys days, through the Spurs and Bulls, he was amazing to watch. When I was in college he was playing with the Spurs and Bulls and every night he was on TNT, everyone stopped and gathered to see what his hair color would be and to watch him grab boards.
Salute to Dennis Rodman, Basketball GOD and Thanks to AllBasketballUniverse for posting. CHEERS!!! from the Philippines 11/2/2023
2022 still coming back to watch
Man was like the Jimi Hendrix of basketball or some shit
Love the Rodman.
The Bad Ass Bad Boy King of Rebound.☄☄🔥🔥🏀
Dennis...you're awesome!
That hang time at 24:03!!!! Jordan never ceases to amaze me.
Awesome
The NBA coaches of those teams used him and nothing more.
He could have been much better if he was guided and helped him hone his skills more. (With the exception of the pistons)
Considering the pain he had to do what he did is nothing short of incredible.
I'm an ex alcoholic myself and you have no idea until you walk this path.
One of the greatest players of all time.
Love you bro 🤙❤
BATMAN, SUPERMAN, RODMAN..💪
I love Rodman! ❤ he makes the game exciting to watch. Now the game is so boring. Love you Mr. Rodman.
From pistons to bulls. 5 championships badass defender
I miss 90's he was one of the best player all time and trend setters.
legend!
The Greatest in his time maybe more
Rodman definitely had his issues! He deserves everything he’s gotten but his problems could have been avoided. Great guy. Excellent talent. Definitely one of my favorite players…,,,,,,
Dennis is real cool!
POWERFUL🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈 AMAZING 💯DENNIS RODMAN♉💯 BULLS 🏀THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND SHARING YOUR GIFT RODMAN 🏆🏅☺● BROWN FAMILY DAPHNE COTTON 💜
You rock on Dennis rodman...
Besides being a superstar, he seemed like he was just a socially awkward, oddball person. Like he didn't know how to live so he just followed an action movie script.
