Thank you, Debra :) I'm glad that you enjoyed this. I need to take you on a cruise through the Wind River Canyon the next time I get you up to Wyoming. The video honestly does not really capture the beauty of this area. You would love this drive, although you might prefer we made it on a rented Harley ;-)
Camping here would be awesome! I have only been through this canyon twice. I drove through for the first time last spring, but didn't film it that time. When I "accidentally" ended up there again this year thanks to Garmin routing me thought on the way to the Bighorns where I was going to camp I was thrilled and decided to turn on the camera.
Thank you Robert! I love your work and nature drives. Thanks taking me along! If would be fun to link all the roads, Hwy, and freeways you and Debra have traveled for one glorious epic road trip. It's just as dream.
Thank you! I really enjoyed this drive and am glad to be able to share it. This canyon is a bit off the beaten path, but definitely worth exploring if you ever find yourself in the area!
Thanks, Kathy :) "Blue Highways" is not a common term anymore, but William Least Heat-Moon popularized the term in his 1982 book of the same name. In the days of paper maps the two-lane roads were often indicated by blue lines on the map. Debra bought me that book last year and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Seemed like a good description for much of my trip this year!
Stunning scenery and soundtrack to go with it. Must have taken lots of editing effort to coordinate all that. Great job, Robert! Your vids are memorable.
Thank you :) I was thrilled to drive through this canyon again this year on my way to Wyoming. I drove through last spring but didn't film it for some reason. Might be I didn't have my dash cam set up as I had just purchased the gray van. Definitely worth the drive if you ever find yourself in that area!
Very pretty. You must have beautiful memories from the trip. The music and edits are really well done. I enjoyed the winding road while listening to that relaxing guitar. Great job. Thanks for sharing this. Stay well !
Thanks, Jason! I have only been through the Wind River Canyon twice. I drove through for the first time last spring right after I got into the gray van, but didn't film the drive that time. This was sort of an "accidental" trip though as I was just making my way to the Bighorns where I planned to camp for a few nights and ended up passing through again. It really is a lovely canyon drive.
I am an eagle scout, always used to camp back in Iowa when I was a young guy so now I am self conscious about it and worried Ill camp in the wrong place, get the knock etc. Trying to scout places out. I feel comfortable in Flagstaff. Now I will spend a couple weeks in Boulder and hit some state and National Colorado parks and then to Wyoming. Easing into things. Thanks for your great videos they are awesome. Hope you found some good spots in The Big Horns. I saw you reminiscing with Deborah got her crying. Very nice live stream for her bday. Thanks for the great content and suggestions!!!
This was actually recorded at 24 fps. I think it was done using a DJI Osmo Action camera. I do sometimes use higher frame rates to provide the option to slow it down, but for whatever reason didn't do that with this video. This is a place that I would like to return to again and try capturing some different views and angles. It is a very scenic area though!
Nice drive Robert, especially when I plug the video into my 55in TV. Saw a movie called Wind River with Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen. A story about the Wind River Indian Reservation. Looks like a fantastic area to back country also. Safe journeys Robert.
I would love to do some backcountry exploring around the Wind River! This was a happy accident more or less. I drove it last year on purpose but didn't film it for some reason. This year it was just the route that Garmin suggested for me to travel from Riverton where I overnighted at a Walmart to Ten Sleep which was on the way into the Bighorns via Highway 16 as I planned to camp up there for a few nights (that video will be up next week). This is a really scenic canyon drive. I'd love to think of a way to better capture it than driving through, but it's basically a canyon and only just so many places to stop. It is a lovely drive if you are ever in the area though. I'm glad to hear it still looked good on a big screen! The largest I have in the van is my 13" MacBook so I'm never sure about that! LOL
Cool, thank you. I have to drive through Shoshoni on my way to pick up my rig. I might have to take the road north to Thermopolis on my way back as a side trip.
Strange that it doesn't name this Byway at all on Google maps when looking for it. It's just called US 20 and 789. That's what confused me. Lol. Sorry about that.
I probably should make a short video to explain why I sort of disappeared for a bit, but in short I was helping Debra with some repair/improvement projects on her new RV and it ended up being a far larger set of projects than either of us anticipated. At the same time that was going on I was also dealing with two trips per week to the mechanic (about a half day each) trying to solve the problems with the gray van. Things just go away from me and then it was off to traveling to Wyoming and a bunch of family events. I'm getting back in the saddle now, but have been focused first on getting a few videos ahead on the travel/scenery so at least that is consistent. I'm working now on a video idea list for this week!
My dream is to adventure in this beautiful state someday
Will never ever grow tired of watching this. ❤️

Robert Witham, can’t wait to experience it with you. Thank you for thinking of me. ❤️ I do miss my Harley! Lol. Miss you too big guy.
The question is whether you would trust me to escort you through on a Road King ;-) That would be an awesome experience my love!
Robert Witham, I do! And yes it would.❣️
I drove this route last month -stunning!
No words needed........
That's pretty I have been there before it's breath taking ❤ thanks for sharing 🥰
Thanks for sharing Robert
Thank you Robert!
Took this beautiful route last year. Camped along the river. The sound of the train rolling through the canyon was other worldly.

I'll be in that area later in the year. I will definitely check it out.
Thanks Robert.
beautiful!..nuff said!

This was superb!!! Something to Google, "blue highways." Never heard of that. Your videos are very therapeutic. Thank you. 😊

Lovely place Robert... Fancy Free takes great video 😁😉
Amazing views!
It really is, and the video doesn't fully capture it unfortunately. It's a lovely drive if you ever happen to be in the area.

Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful and wonderful music. It suits how it feels to freely travel through such an amazing landscape
Thank you
Well done:)!

Great just beautiful , I wonder did you use FPS 30 OR 60 ? THANKS

Nice, love two lane blacktop. 😎 -Mark
Definitely! I intentionally took more backroads or "blue highways" on this trip and am glad that I did. It made for some memorable moments :)

What a beautiful drive. Does this have a state road or US road number attached to it?
The Wind River Canyon Scenic Byway is along US 20 between Shoshoni and Thermopolis.
Cool, thank you. I have to drive through Shoshoni on my way to pick up my rig. I might have to take the road north to Thermopolis on my way back as a side trip.

What happened to your podcasts? I really enjoyed them, a reason I am Patreon sponsor
