I SO enjoyed seeing Thermopolis an Wind River canyon again..was there in 2005 an I was so Amazed at th BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS an th sulphurous smell of th hot springs....Thanks for taking us along as passengers thru this vast area....
I lived in Wyoming for over 12 years….Been to the hot springs many times..it’s free for 20 minutes…you can go away and come back and go again for another 20 minutes…It also has the best dinosaur museum…You can actually watch them working items from the new digs….
I have been in Wyoming a few times, but its been awhile. I live in rural central Ohio in the summer and fall and we have some beauty here as well. Look at some of Russ's vids when he was here a few months ago. He loved it. I live in Florida for the winter and spring. Its great down there as well. Life is good. Russ is so cool.
Thank you, from 2 of us who have not been able to travel in 2021 (Non-Covid medical Issues), thank you. We have been able to travel vicariously thru you. Your videos are greatly appreciated.
Russ my wife and I lived in Wyoming for a couple of years, we always enjoyed the drive on 20. We lived in northern Wyo just 3 miles from Montana. My cousin owns a tack shop in Frannie Wyo. it was called the biggest little town in Wyo. it takes in two counties , 149 people but the county line runs through the center of town. I enjoy your trips and commentaries, thank you for sharing.
Wow Russ! Wind aRiver Canyon is vast and long! I could hear the winds whipping around your van! So beautiful! Thank you for these great videos! Like you say if you can’t travel go with me!❤️😀🚙
I made it a point to stay 2 days at Thermopolis on last years visit to Wyoming. I wanted to have PLENTY of time to soak in the hot springs. It was the middle of my 2 week trip so the springs really hit the spot. 10:38 The "Wyoming Grand Canyon" is called the "Grand Canyon of Yellowstone". On my last visit to Yellowstone I spent most of one day there. Amazing.
Thank you! I grew up near there! Been a long while since I've been thru the tunnels. Dad used to tell us to hold our breath thru the tunnels asked then he'd drive real slow thru the last one! Fun times on the lake too. Great plays to grow up. used to see if
Must say, Russ, you've given me a bit of an education over your last several videos. Always thought of Wyoming as being just rolling open range for cattle and other ranchers. Had no idea the state is filled with such beautiful mountains and canyons. Very easy to understand why you want to return in the future. Safe traveling.
In case you are wondering, the train tracks crossed the river just before the dam and entered a tunnel over 7000ft long. I grew up in Worland and would go boating, fishing and skiing with my family
The symbols on the side of the cowboy statue in Thermopolis are the cattle brands of local ranchers. I think they paid $100 to have their symbol displayed there.
Thanks Russ once again for bringing us along on the ride and being able to see such great beautiful mountain west states right here from my home in Louisiana . See you on the next one.
Its been several years back that I was there, but it is such a cool place! Wondered all over the place and did that bridge too. Hope you make it through Wind River Canyon.
Thanks Russ l thought l had really spectacular scenery down here in Oz but OMG man its so wonderful, l love my Armchair adventure, cold can on one side some nibbles on the other and I'm there with you all in the USA..thank you once again for the adventure regards Doc from Down-under
Remember, Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone would be Wyoming's most famous canyon. Though love Wind River. Stopped in Thermopolis once on our way through Cody.
It's a beautiful place. It surprised me that nobody was in or walking around those mineral springs. And there were no boats in the water at the lake at the end of the video. Makes me wonder where everyone is. 👍👍
I lived 8 years in WY. If the weather wasn't so harsh (windy during season changes, bone chilling cold in the winter) it would be the best state in the Union, IMO!
This is my favorite drive in Wyoming. I'm happy you got it on video. 19:40 I believe the road has been there since the horse and wagon days. But interestingly the original Yellowstone Highway bypassed the canyon and ran farther east. It wasn't until the 1920s that the road was finally upgraded enough to route the highway through the canyon.
Stopped there last time through. Was thinking how easy it would have been for Butch and Sundance to just jump on top of the train and rob it when it went through there. As you said awsome drive from Buffalo.
We went rafting in the Wind River Canyon in June. Beautiful trip, freezing water! I highly recommend it though, it's unique and not as touristy as rivers like the Snake.
Definitely put this on your bucket list alongside the North Cascade Highway return trip, and the Cascade Mountains of Washington and Oregon. You could spend an entire summer in these three places. I lived in Thermopolis for a couple years and worked on the railroad. We used to have to run the tracks ahead of every train to make sure the tracks were clear of rocks. I spent another five years in Bonneville just before you get to Shoshoni. Wish I could be your tour guide on your return trip. FYI: the canyon highway is kept open year around. And the traffic doesn't bother to slow down in the snow. Crazy. Stay safe Russ.
Russ, if you end up in Evanston, take the mirror lake highway into Utah. From Rock Springs, go through Flaming Gorge over to Vernal. Either way, you will like it!!!
Nice scenic wind river canyon sir.your drone cam plays an important role and your videos too sir nicely captured the nature.have a nice journey sir ❤❤❤❤👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍
Russ, my wife and I were just through that canyon about a week ago, headed from Cody to Fort Collins Colorado. You are right, Wyoming is a great place to vist, from what we saw, it is a beautiful state and look forward to our next visit.
The river enters the canyon as the Wind River from the south and emerges as the Big Horn at Thermopolis. Flows north. The train heads off to the east angles under the road and part of the lake. Heck of a tunnel.
I have thoroughly enjoyed your drive through Wyo. I was particularly interested in Thermopolis, Wind River Canyon....as a young girl I grew up in that area...it was so good to see them again. I knew you would be happy to go through 3 tunnels. I always loved the Canyon but it could be scary in the winter.
Your travels through there has definitely made me want to go through there. The only thing missing was the train. Just absolutely stunning ! Safe travels my friend.
🙋♀️Hello Russ! The drive from Thermopolis through Wind Canyon to the Lake in Boysen State Park was very enjoyable I thought. Loved stopping to look back at those huge rock walls, loved the tunnel going through those huge boulders. The campground seemed like a nice place to visit, was quiet, not a heavy populated area.
great trip as always Russ.loved the ride.been so many years since i made that trip.would love to do it once again.funny you should mention cracking the windshield.i met a dump bucket my last trip and i got it right in the windshield.cracked big time.fell off his truck.i just kept going. thanks
Wind River Canyon is kinda an optical illusion - when traveling direction you did, it appears you're going down into canyon but you're actually driving uphill (note river flow) because canyon walls get higher. I always said river is going wrong way.
I knew you were going to love Wind River Canyon.. Cant wait until the next video, I'm curious which way you'll go once you get to Shoshone....Casper way or Lander way????
Do you stay home during the winter or travel all year long ? And do you map out a year ahead of time where you’ll go, or just plan it as you’re driving ? Another beautiful part of the country.

Hello Russ😊😊, WOW...what a EPIC drive through Wind River Canyon! SPECTACULAR! I'm wondering if your route takes you through Flaming Gorge, Dinosaur National Monument, and Moab! Can't wait to see what's next.👍👍👍👍👍

I've lived many years in British Columbia and Hot Springs truly cure what ails you!
Wind River range is some of the most gorgeous country in all the world!
Grew up in Riverton, Wyoming. It was a treat in winter as a kid to go swimming at the pool in Thermop on Saturday.

WE LOVE RVerTV.
Been through Wind River canyon 200 times. Never ceased to amaze me.
Is it a good kayaking river? Looks enticing.
Best time to visit Wyoming is in June before wildfire season kicks into full gear. Wind River Canyon looks awesome!
Just beautiful !!!
Russ is the best. Sitting here in Ohio for all but a half hour visit to Wyoming. Love it.

Russ, you are great. Your scenic videos are both educational and recreational
Just love the ride along with you thru Wyoming wow! The views amazing and those tunnels just awesome thanks!!
This is one of the places I found on the map that I was going to go explore
Never heard of Wind River Canyon, it's fantastic, one of the best episodes on the entire trip. Thank Russ!
Wow what a scenic canyon.
Howdy Russ! Safe travels!
Excellent.
We went rafting in the Wind River Canyon in June. Beautiful trip, freezing water! I highly recommend it though, it's unique and not as touristy as rivers like the Snake.
What a beautiful drive, it looked like you were going to another dimension when you went into those rock tunnels... Safe Travels
When I was a kid living there they used to say the snow didn’t melt, the wind just blew it around until it wore out.
Hey Russ!!! Take a "DIP" in the "HOT SPRING"!!! Be Safe!!!
Very beautiful thank you. I really enjoy riding with you thank you very much
Loved those tunnels awesome and the white water.
Hey Russ, thanks for another addition to my bucket list!👍

Top drive today Russ, thoroughly enjoy it. Thanks 👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thanks Russ for another great video 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼. Been through there several times, but not from the north.
Tunnels were dug when road was first built 1925 before that wagons had to over top of mountain. The first dam was built in 1908.
Russ, if you end up in Evanston, take the mirror lake highway into Utah. From Rock Springs, go through Flaming Gorge over to Vernal. Either way, you will like it!!!
I enjoy it God bless
I love the canyon. I travel though it multiple times a year. It never gets old.
Nice scenic wind river canyon sir.your drone cam plays an important role and your videos too sir nicely captured the nature.have a nice journey sir ❤❤❤❤👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍

(Continued) Looked for the mural on a building in Thermopolis, seen in 1990's on our way to Meteetse, WY for our son's wedding. Great trip.

Picture and video are nice but not like seeing it in person it's just awesome ❤ thanks for sharing 🥰
18:00-A couple years ago a train came through the canyon and hit a huge boulder that fell off the cliff putting two locomotives in the river.
I remember that. It happened in 2010. The video of it is still on RUclips. Raw Video: Wind River Canyon Derailment.
wonderful, thanks
I have been there beautiful place ❤ my brother brought us there it was so cold when I was there the steam was breath taking ❤
Wow great video! This is now on my bucket list.
The Wind River Canyon was really a special place. ❤️🇺🇲

Yeah, like watching the river going uphill, very curious illusion that happens when you have no horizon.
I knew you were going to love Wind River Canyon.. Cant wait until the next video, I'm curious which way you'll go once you get to Shoshone....Casper way or Lander way????
That's an impressive canyon. If there's a gradual lifting of the terrain. then that's another Grand Canyon in the making. After a million years or so.
Awesome video! Love Wyoming
Do you stay home during the winter or travel all year long ?
