I'm dyslexic and I agree with your definition of dyslexia that is dyslexia is viewed as a different way of processing information and how it's make to be useful. I came up with a type of explanation or a comparison of dyslexics (nuerodiverent) and non-dyslexics (nuerotypical) individuals. Illustrated by this analogy; a fish has the ability to breath under water but does not have the ability to breath above the water. In contrast, a duck has the ability to swims on top of the water but cannot breathe under the water (but dives down into the water by holding its breath to obtain nutrients.) The fish represent the nuerotypical majority of human beings (teachers, administrators, psychologists, students). Consequently (the fish) therefore makes the observations and labels the duck as "disabled" because 'it can not breathe under the water.' Another example would be the differences between an iPhone and a Samsung android phone. Both phones share a common goal but use different strategies and procedures to arrive at the same result (ie making phone calls, sending texts, and storing important information).
Hello, I wish to talk to about helping me create awareness in my hospital as part of dyslexia awareness week 2nd to 9th oct 23. I Trying to gather as much information as possible about dyslexia but being dyslexic myself I am having issues with putting words onto paper. I need a few posters. If you have information that I can use to help spread awareness, I would be very grateful. Kind Regards Lindsay
There is a difference between Science and Personality, thank you for Recognizing this.
