I disagree. Doug is out of touch with some of the cars he reviews. He has no clue when he reviews anything offroad like Jeep. Sorry, but just cant stand him and his sense of humour
Doug is a very wealthy man from making mainstream car reviews that wives watch and say oh how cool is this and that... I personally can't stand him. He seems like a total douche and how he tries to force comedy is just silly. It clearly worked for him, me being a female that has been around cars and building and tuning my whole life (dad owns a very well known shop in Florida.. We are known for 2j builds and RB and SR builds.) What i have watched of him showd a very lame amount of forced comedy and very little understanding of the cars he is presenting.
If you didn't know, viper uses same as 3000GT/Stealth mirrors. Maybe you can adapt a power mirror and install a switch somewhere. (even defrost available hehe)
I have a 92 VR-4 and I honestly never noticed until you said this that the Viper uses our mirrors, but you're absolutely right! I'd definitely love to see someone throw the power/defrost mirror from a 3kGT or Stealth into a Viper.

Great Video! I'm a long time car lover and finally bought my Gen1 a coupe of months ago...it is #47 for me. :-) I am churching things up and its hilarious that you mention extensive work in a 2-car garage at your condo. I'm in a 2-car garage at my condo and replaced about half of the fiberglass in the entire center section of the hood, last week. Wish I could post pics of my temporary spray booth. Ha! I love these early Vipers, because nothing is hidden from you.....you get to feel and manage every aspect of the driving experience. Thanks for taking the time to put these videos together. ...back to block sanding, ugh. -Jason (USAF ret)
My buddy has one he daily drives - 2007 coupe iirc. He had the radiator go at 130,000 miles as a heads up. It is far better as a daily driver than I would have suspected. It not only makes sense getting through traffic, but if you and another car come to a corner, doesn't matter, they let the Viper through first.
The Viper has been my dream car since I was a kid I cannot wait to own one some day soon. I love to see that you drive this thing and that you’re from Ohio. I am also from Ohio, actually not to far from Nelson Ledges, where you first saw the car. Like you I hope to own a Viper someday, not just to say I have one, but to actually drive it because that’s what it’s meant to do. Watching videos about guys who have owned gen 1&2 Vipers has really helped prepare me for what to expect when it comes to owning this car and whether or not my limited mechanic abilities are capable of handling any fixes to the car that it may one day need. I really appreciate Viper owners sharing their experiences with their cars so that I can see what the common issues are, what’s normal wear and tear, and what’s stock/aftermarket etc. It’s encouraging to see that yours has such high miles on it (not to mention it survived a crash) and it’s still going strong. So please keep giving updates on your Viper!

I ran into the same tire issue on my mr2. Even moving to aftermarket wheels it is hard to find ones that have tires available, fit, and have the right stagger. Luckily I came across some old wheels from a decent brand on ebay with the exact right offset and acceptable stagger that already had usable tires on them with new ones available. The finish is messed up but there isn't any non-cosmetic damage and they were cheaper than new tires alone.
Man, that’s an awesome car just like it is! I love the spoiler in the back and all of the patina. You’re getting to have a blast and make fantastic memories in it and that is what life is all about!!! You remind a lot of a best friend I had years ago. He looked like you, sounded like you and had the same mannerisms. And he and his dad totally rebuilt his Volkswagen Beetle with a hot rodded engine and painted it blue like your viper. We had a blast in that thing! That guy knew how to have a blast and live life. One time he got a speeding ticket so his dad took his car keys for a couple of months. He rode his bike 20 miles round trip almost everyday to see his girlfriend (now his wife) so nothing stopped him.

I met the guy who made the original v10 for Chrysler. The team cut two smallblocks in half with a bandsaw. They had a hell of a time with the crankshaft. That story came up when I was telling him about my team making the cranks for the viper in 2012 when it was being relaunched. Roush-Yates were partially building those motors in the back of the semis, on the road... it was cut so close!

I'm 53 & I've been researching the Viper, as I only own manual cars & this has always been one of my favorites!!! Thanks😁
I love the Dodge Viper! Yours is gorgeous. I own a 1995 Mustang GT vert, last year of the 302w in the Mustang, with the metallic teal paint. It is my "hot rod" I don't daily it, more of a project car. I also own a 2016 Mustang GT premium, I got the RTR axle back exhaust and the Ford Performance power pack 2. Neither are as fast as that beauty but I love them both.
I'm 57 and I am recently getting back into wrenching. I have raised my family, cruising in a well paying career, finished another degree, and now I wanted to get back into hobbies... I love cars for the engineering and the art of them. Of course, the cruise. I recently bought an 06 Mustang v6 convertible Mustang (my graduation gift to myself), I am doing some refreshing and light mods to make it more my style. Do I give a rats patootie that some will give me crap because it is not a v8 GT? F-that noise! I don't need speed or super quick off the line, but I wanted a 5 speed stick and something I can drop the top and enjoy the sights, sounds and feeling of real driving fun. Is your Viper for me? (or insert any other car) Well besides I am to damn old and stiff to get in and out of a Viper.. no.. ;-) But I look at the Viper lines, and the shapes and see the beauty of the design. And I say.. cool... Sure as heck, I would love to try and stuff myself in it and have a cruise with you, and talk about cars, chicks and life... enjoy the rumble of the engine and the road before us... That's what it is really about!
I was in love with the Viper the first time I saw it at the auto show in Detroit. I was lucky enough to ride in one of the first ever assembled due to a member of team Viper living on our street. The was the RT/10. When I saw the GTS I was floored. It was very similar to one of my other favorite all time vehicles ever, the Burton Batmobile. I like to think the engineers were inspired by that as they share a lot of similarities. With the wing on this one is takes it to the next level.
My Dad is MOPAR collector who has about 20-30 cars in various stages of build at any given time. Including a couple of vipers. What sets viper apart from all the other MOPAR platforms IMHO is it demands actually having some driving chops to operate. It is one of the least forgiving cars I have ever driven. How you feel about this dynamic has about as much to do with you as it does the car. If you are just a tourist that drives the car every blue moon and mashes the gas then it wont be anything more to you than a status symbol. But if you spend the time to get to know the platform and its strengths and weaknesses, it is a deeply satisfying driving experience that is lightyears beyond driving something like a Hellcat.
Great video. Few things. On my 02 viper, I have a rear trunk latch below the sill, it’s usually hidden below the carpet but it’s there (at least on mine). Also, careful with mishimoto hoses “quality”. Mine blew after 10 miles of ownership. Fun time on the highway. They offered me $30 discount on a new $200 set lmao
It’s funny because that’s exactly where I store my phone in my Viper - I wedge it in between the seat and the center console - easy access and it never falls out
I'm finishing Nursing school this year and I am definitely adding the gen 2 Viper on my list of a car that I want to own. My goal is to own one unique car that I can daily drive while also have the potential to wrench on. I'd probably go for the newer gen 2's for the ABS function. But I can look past it. I drove a 69 mustang for about 6 years and I lived. I hated rainy days though.
just recently watched the Petrolicious presentation of Mr. Putsche's absolutey stunning gorgeous '97 Viper GTS. and now this popped up in my suggestion list, great ! I remember the name of Casey Putsch'es from many years back, where he was showcasing his fully functional turbine powered true to scale and original '89 Batmobile which, if I recall correctly, was even registered and street legal for road use. really amazing! greetings from germany.

Hey Casey, I noticed in your Petrolicious video that you were ripping around the same roads I was. Went to Liberty, lives in Nap town, and now I'm out in Whitehouse. Great roads out here, love the car.
My uncle Robert Abelson who lives in Stone mountain by ATL has a 96 Shelby edition viper and has well over 200,000 miles by now. He has replaced everything but the transmission and motor as far as I know. He would drive it to work daily in Stone mountain to his office on hwy76. It's the only white with blue stripes in ATL that I know of but that was ten years ago since I have been to road Atlanta.
I actually really Love the wing, its not common. The viper in this exact colour scheme was the first Model car that I ever got. I would like the own 1 someday but they are really expensive to import to my Country and I think there is only 1 currently and its a 1st gen.
How much effect does the small bits of areo downforce have? I heard this gen of viper is notorious for spitting you out of corners if not careful. (You should always be careful in corners but im just saying, its not McLaren Senna levels of downforce)

Hey Casey don't worry so much we all love your car, its the reason why we all watch your videos b/c we AGREE with you. Love the viper and genuis garage, hopefully I can work there with you one day :)
That means a lot, thank you for saying that. I've gone through a lot of tough things in my past and being public with these things does make me nervous from time to time. Cheers!
Casey, what are the front and rear tire sizes on your current setup?
D Park can’t remember. Same as the stock newest Vipers
I'm 44 and I enjoy your topics and honest presentation. I like your style and your Viper is kickass. We disagree on the gun topic but because we relate on so many others, I'll give it a pass. Keep the spirit and thanks for sharing. Subscribed!
DJ Scott sorry about the comment. I respect all our amendments and your right to carry.
I am so glad that you did the Dodge viper. That is my favorite car of all time doesn't matter what year are most.
On my list of top 5 cars I always wanted. 96+GTS Blue with white stripes. I imagined white wheels on one when in college 20 plus years ago. Now my dream is a reality in your videos 😂
Great car. Great vid. These cars are bulletproof. I've put over 200,000 miles on my 98 RT/10. Buy 'em to drive 'em.
Liked before I watched great vid man keep it up
No "Viper GTS" badge on the sides of the bonnet? How do you like the drilled rotors?
your from columbus ? i have been trying to find youtubers here in the city your the second one i have found other than will motivation. where do they hold columbus cars and coffee and what day of the month ?
mopar life yes. Look up Paul Milligan. He runs it. I’m stuck up in Toledo Ohio hell for the time being.
Great car Casey! Love seeing it at cars and coffee. A GTS will hopefully be my Corvette replacement. I have my eyes out for one!
It's your car, you built it for you, and not the world. Love the car, it's all you!
Had a 95 red roadster and a 99GTS in black. Great fun cars. Loved driving them. Two back operations forced me to regrettably selling them. My lost.
Gr8 video, I could list one after another things I loved about it, but that would be a very long comment. Awesome personality & loved the way you threw in lots of little zingers.
Great video...love the car... beautiful camera work by the way
glad I found this after watching the petrolicious video. needed more thanks for the video
last question, did you instal the wing?? looks nice
Awesome! Yeah, have a blast!
When I get one... I'd like to put the Hennessey aero on it

I really enjoyed your take on the viper in general and your personal vehicle. What are your thoughts on the Ram SRT-10?
I'm not into that truck. I prefer trucks for utility, not sport.
Mobil Pegasus..... Horse's do not have wings lol . Great vid Casey!
Rob Pitts Hahahaha! They do up north brother. Thanks Rob! Looks like your channel is killin it man!
Casey: 'What do you want from me? C'mon."
Us: Your cars Casey, we want your cars..
What kind of front splitters are those? They look awesome!
Are you near Columbus i would love to see it in person, although I swear I may have seen you/this car near Polaris last December???
Curtis Blackwell you may have. I go there from time to time. I’ll be in Pittsburg tomorrow at Cars and Coffee
I kind of forgot about these cars. Great video!!!
You got me thinking... Maybe someday I will buy/own/drive a Viper. Yours has inspired me a little more.
Im very close to buying a gen 1 Viper but I need a bit of advice. Im torn between price and mileage.
Pretty sure I've seen you cruising around in this thing, cool to see it on RUclips after seeing it in person first!
I appreciate the viewpoint of driving your car because its awesome and accepting little flaws.
Cool Viper, like the blue color, white racing stripes and Mobil 1 Pegasus Horse, I agree, it does have a timeless classic look.
Loved the 97 viper since 1997! Favorite all time car, wish I had one too!
Good job listening to wife, gold wheels would have been trash LoL!!! The white wheels fit the model year very well!
I love this car and this guy. I'm so glad you made this
just recently watched the Petrolicious presentation of Mr.
Cheers! Well I'm making some new videos on that same Batmobile now, so you should consider subscribing to my channel. Hope you enjoyed this video! I love your country too!
enjoyed this in depth full detail presentation a lot ! absolutely love Vipers, and this one is one very fine example of the legendary American beasts that are are Dodge Vipers.
@@CaseyPutsch Hi Casey, thank you for the quick response, looking forward to the Batmobile videos coming ! and hopefully more of this awesome Viper GTS of yours too !
oh and yeah, new subscriber ! ;-)
cheers again from germany to amazing America ! :-)
Awesome, another new youtube Viper video (very few with new Viper content)! Thanks a ton!
Take a shot everytime he says "what do u want from me"
How many miles were on it ?? Did I miss him saying it ?? Time stamp please ?
Love the viper and love the fact you drive it. I love my viper and I drive it as much as I can.
“Is this making good RUclips? BEGONE BEE” nowhere else on RUclips can you find content this pristine. Keep it up Casey 😂
Louis Randolph awesome!!! Glad you like the real.
Love the car. A childhood favorite for me. And love your attitude toward the ride.
Thanks!
The viper was always my favorite car as a kid…. I still love the way they look.. never had the chance to drive or even ride in one though lol
Where was this filmed Casey? It looks super familiar.
I actually really Love the wing, its not common. The viper in this exact colour scheme was the first Model car that I ever got. I would like the own 1 someday but they are really expensive to import to my Country and I think there is only 1 currently and its a 1st gen.
Absolutely love those cars. Always said I was going to have a 1994 C4 ZR1 and 94 Viper. I’m half way there. Have a good one Casey.
I should wax it... But... I drive it..
I forgot waxed cars suddenly become undriveable. 😂
Jordan Johnson who has time for that. :)
I personally love the wing on the viper. Would love to find a blue with white stripe viper with the Hennessey wing
Genuinely love that wing. Suits the body lines and styling down to the ground.
How much effect does the small bits of areo downforce have? I heard this gen of viper is notorious for spitting you out of corners if not careful.
(You should always be careful in corners but im just saying, its not McLaren Senna levels of downforce)
Honestly man, 99.9% of the time on the street no driver would ever notice. It's mostly for fun. Race cars are different, but this is my street car.
