This is perfect, huge battles recorded through a high quality camera, with high quality miniatures and terrain, with great commentary walking us through Such a good battle
Imagine what it would have felt like to be one of those mortar teams in that bunker. You and yours are busy shelling when all of a sudden the ground along the walls of the structure burst up and not a moment later you catch the bloody gleam of lictor talons poking out of the shadows. At that point I'd probably just save them the trouble and set a mortar off with my face.
If I was on one of those motors I would start smacking the shells on the ground and then throwing them like grenades. or just gather all the ammo and blow them and myself sky high!
Gotta be honest, when I saw how epic the set up was, I couldn't help but picture the battle in my head. Thousands of guardsman just waiting...waiting...then suddenly...the deafening, collective screech as the main line of the tyranid swarm bursts from the trees, the largest of them knocking the ancient plants over, rushing towards the battle line as the guardsman light up the field with lasers after a collective cheer of "For the Emperor!" Sure that probably doesn't fit with how warhammer 40k universe works...but shut up I don't know everything about it yet. >.>
To put it in perspective, battles take place over literal entire planets. These tabletop matches simulate a very tiny fraction of a gargantuan spanning battlefield of just thousands of armies clashing.
the way the tyranids burst up into the lower level of the bunker was almost cinematic. tyranids vs imperial guard is always great because it's the classic starship troopers scenario.
It's Just Milk I Swear I’d say it’s the contemporary starship troopers scenario. “Classic” would be the book, and it would be more like a group of highly mobile space marines vs tyranids.
I've never played the game, mainly because I don't know anyone who loves the Warhammer 40k universe as much as I do, but I still love these videos. They're a great way to vicariously experience the tabletop game, and you do a good job of making the game understandable and dramatic (I don't know the rules, so I don't know how complicated the game really is). Bravo!
I felt so bad for the poor mortar crews. They probably thought they were in the safest place on the entire battlefield... and then it turned out all those unlit corners were filled with Lictors and Genestealers. D'OH!
What an amazing job you guys do every single time. I must say that your battle reports are the best on the web - hands down. They are "fluffy", non-competitive, beautifully painted and wonderfully narrated. This is the quality all battle report makers should aspire to - especially the ones doing this stuff for a living!
Everytime I see some Infantry base to base with an Superheavy Tank, I wonder why GW disapproved for the driver to put his boot on the gaspin and just run them over, turn around and mush them into red goo ;)
Just that picture of all those claws poking out from the shadows of the bunker's upper level as the lurking 'Nids prepare to pounce on the mortar teams is fantastic. The quality of army paintjobs on this channel is amazing, and the fact the Imperial Guard seem to lose every game makes me want to play them all the more!
Watched this since I'm planning on getting into 40k soon as the Imperial Guard and I must say, this did not dissuade me one bit. Damn fine battle I must say, well done!
strikingscorpion82 you did something wrong the tanks should have been behind the units so the units infront die but kill a few then the tanks kill omost all of them if the y faild you had your backup
Amazing bat rep. Probably the best I've ever seen. Gorgeous models & terrain, incredibly cinematic with lines of tanks & infantry attempting to stem the tide! Keep them coming
Gotta say, I really love the presentation in this video. It's quite unlike a lot of battle report videos that just show the aftermath of turns, skipping a lot, etc. I also really like the little music montages, like the lictors in the dark with the creepy music. Very nicely done!
***** tell your brother to bring a few artillery tanks for his next game they would have crushed the creepers in the dark and possibly saved his warlord, also fun against all those hordes
amazing well painted armies, beautiful table, great report! most people will call me a nerd but for me its like watching fc barcelona vs. bayern münchen for a football fan :D thank you for your great battlereports SS82!
I would have loved to see how this game would have turned out had it been a fight to the finish. Would the tyranids have been able to overwhelm the guard? Exciting stuff.
I comment alot on your videos, mate, and it's old news when I tell you that you rock and your channel kicks so much ass. But I thought you should know, this is the FIRST Apocalypse game I've seen from beginning to end, ENTIRELY. I've seen a few others here and there, like MWG's, but you just have this special way of showing batreps it's positively overwhelming. I wish we were neighbors so I could borrow sugar and tea from you every day :(
A very cinematic game. I especially liked the infestation with all the lictors. Lictor broods are an underrated unit. The imperial guard deserved the victory but that lord commissar died a cowards death - That's what you get for refusing a challenge!
SUCH IMPRESSIVE ARMIES I MEAN WOW lovin the imperial guard especially i just started building up my own guard army a few months ago i just finished painting 80 troops and now i have to build and paint the last 20 then move onto tanks and then hq i am doing my best but it is ALOT of work so i am just in complete awe of how much work and love you have put into those armies just fantastic! stay safe! -Jacob
You gave this an epic feel with great editing and narration. I don't know a lot about the game but still managed to follow everything that was going on the narration was so good.
This battle report is truly AMAZING! i never thought i would sit through an hour and a half video, the music and editing 10 out of 10 i love it. you have gained a subscriber keep it up guys i look forward to future videos :D
I remember watching this battle report about 6 years ago when I started the hobby, it was the best battle I've ever seen, and although the tyranids lost by one victory point, they became my favourite army in 40k. Now several years from leaving the Hobby and now returning to the hobby in 2020, this is still the best battle report I know 👌
REALLY love your videos SS, of all the battle report videos i see on youtube i enjoy yours the most. You really take the time and effort to create a amazing atmosphere to the game and your audio choices really do enhance the mood.
Nubgan Yes the force is about 75% done. Well my force is not very conventional but I really forward to using it! Look out for it in the near future...I hope to do a tactica and army showcase for everyone to see!:)
Awesome game as usual... The terrain and armies are beautiful as always, and the music, filming etc is awesome. To my mind you guys currently do the best batreps on RUclips! Maybe a rematch is called for once both forces get their new books!
What a epic fight from both armies. Many thanks to all those who were involved to bring this amazing battle together and put it on RUclips. 1 1/2 hours of joy that was better than a lot of films that cost countless millions to make. Once again many thanks to you all. Regards Benny
Loved it! Best Battle Reports on youtube. Presentation, story, camera, cutting and basically everything make your Battle Reports so great and immersive. The viewer knows what's going on without seeing absolutely every roll and decision. Awesome miniatures too. As I said: The Best! Keep it up! :D
Awesome batrep...one of my all-time favorites! Love the narrative aspect, the fantastic painting, the fact that you guys know/remember 99% of the rules, and the obvious enjoyment that you have in playing the game. I agree with one of the other commenters...more Dark Angels!
The best Apoc game I've seen on RUclips. I actually knew what was going on and what was at risk for each unit. you're narrative skills are great SS82. I've got the same camera and set up as you. Must be a lot of work producing these master pieces.
I remember seeing this video for the first time about two years ago.... and man, everytime I see that Imperial Guard army I just about ruin my pants. Beautifully painted, and built in such a fluffy way. Amazing video!
I would hate to be those mortar operators twenty eight minutes in! Some great visuals and cinematic shots in this batrep! You never see videos this quality!
very good battle report. i really like the style of the videos. professionally done, easy to follow and always with great looking forces and terrain. your stuff on eldar was what finally convinced me back in to 40k and start eldar up again. keep up the good work.
I have to say, this is by far one of the best battle reports I have ever seen! Camera and music work adds to the suspense of the whole event. I particularly loved when the nids came into the pit and you zoomed in with the sound effect! O.O Awesome! Well done fellas, keep up the great work!
I knew i subbed your channel for a reason the first apocalypse battle ive watched from start to finish, i paused halfway to get popcorn! epic feel and delivered in a professional and mature way Keep em coming! P.S Green skins! just saying ;)
Just stumbled across your channel, and I love the way you do this. While I do sometimes enjoy seeing the more tedious measurements of the game, usually that's when I am actually there lol. You cut out a lot of the dry stuff and focus on the actual results. Great video.
YES!! That was brilliant!! Well done to all. What a fantastic game. Really glad to see the Guard hold their ground (being a Guard player myself) against the Tyranid scum! Also like a few others have said this is the first Apocalypse game I have watched from start to finish and I loved it. So so good. I knew you guys must have been making something decent and you did not disappoint! Bravo!
Awesome stuff! Both armies we're beautiful, both well played and kudos for making it a fantastic video to watch. Enthralled even thought it was almost 1.5 hours.
Most amazing report. with brilliant pictures and very atmospheric commentary, music and camera flights. In face of this two brilliantly painted armies, and the great terrain I would love to see an Apocalypse game with Eldar...
First and foremost, as others have stated, the terrain and model paints are phenomenal. At the onset I did not think there was any way the Tyranid army would come close with the volume of tanks and other weaponry pointed at them. The commanders of both armies held great strategy, truly a very impressive battle to watch. Had the battle continued I think the IG would have held the win, but taking away the extra objective points (making each worth one) it would have been tied at the conclusion. I held off watching this one because the length (which was actually perfect for what it was, only me finding time to complete it took a little while); however, with the quality of this one in mind I'll be watching the two follow up videos in short order.
The way you recorded this was incredible, completely capturing the atmosphere of the 41st millennium. Unfortunately games like this where one army is heavily entrenched with tons of firepower has a colossal advantage whereas the other side has very little firepower and has to cross a no-mans land are not as fair at a second glance.
Man you're telling me. It's the same for me. I'm playing necrons and my friend plays Tau. He's entrenched on the other side of the table and I have to try to rush my guys across the table to get to where I can get at him and he's able to fire from turn one. Thankfully we play relic and I usually get it since he hugs the edge of his table and forces my army to come to him. He's using a Riptide as his HQ guy now and he's planning on replacing his tanks with two more Riptides. If he does that, I'm not going to want to play anymore. lol.
Whenever playing Warhammer gets too meta or stale, and it feels like just going through the motions I always come back to this battle report for inspiration. Cinematic battlefields and realistic objectives make for an experience that can be remembered for a good long time. This battle report got me into the hobby years ago and it still stays in my head rent free.
This makes we want to collect Warhammer again, haha. The setup looks so realistic though. It doesn't take much imagination to visualise the epic battle that's taking place! Great video.
You have the best batreps online, nothing else comes close. No question about it. Why? You guys go the extra mile with both painted terrain and armies, and they are not just simply painted 3 colours up, they are really high quality paintjobs... credz to miniwargaming and others like them but they should really have a look at your videos, they have a thing or two to learn. This is how warhammer40k is supposed to be played! This is without a doubt the coolest 40k game I've seen online so far. For the love of the emperor himself don't ever stop posting these batreps!
Agreed. I was looking at another video battle report earlier and I was just amazed at the shoddiness of it. For one, the cameraman seemed unable to hold the camera straight and it was shaking the whole time. Then there was the matter of the Ork player just tossing his Orks in a pile on the table and not bothering to stand them up. What's the point of a video battle report if you're not going to put in the extra two minutes worth of effort to stand them up so that when you tell your viewers what you're using they can actually see the models, instead of just a clump of plastic? Lastly, the amount of unassembled and unpainted models was just annoying. There were 20+ Eldar Jetbikes and I think two of them had a Guardian seated in it, while the rest didn't have a rider. I didn't even bother to watch the battle after that. The amount of effort put into it was totally lacking, and didn't inspire me to watch any more. Other RUclips battle report producers should really take a page from this channel on making high quality video battle reports.
Outstanding Battle Report and very well done with both armies being fully painted. The terrain was quite impressive as well, keep up the great reporting.
Man, you are making best bat reps on the internet! your skills with camera, narration, editing and so on are great. I much prefer spending 1.5h watching your rep than going to the movies :) your board is off the chain! :) I have enormous pleasure watching you play. as for game it was obviously great as well, I presume it was a friendly game since Tyranids taking consideration set up and objectives had no chance :)
Good battle and I liked the narration. The little segments with the music were a little cheesy, overlong and unnecessary; nevertheless, your guys scenery was superb and the painting of the miniatures was of a high standard.
Ok guys..all I have to say is..WOW! Very nice painted armys on both sides, Very nice game play from both sides, Very nice job taking video, and explaintion of the game. You have earned my sub! Keep up the great work!
Another fantastic production - the quality of the armies, table, production value of video, an commentary is fantastic! You a credit to our hobby - keep it up!! Some thoughts... 1) apocalypse - any unit can score but must still follow rules to hold/contest so fliers in swooping mode can't contest or hold objectives!! 2) to the IG player - he has learned the value of ALWAYS screening tanks with a line of guard to prevent that charge! Had a single ten man squad shielded the super heavy tanks it would have been a different story! And on the front line - a few squads of guard making meat shields in front of the tanks would have enabled one more turn of shooting! Really epic game - both armies looked beautiful - the IG army was jaw dropping!
Jay for James and the IG! Although i would've loved to see Pask on one of those Punishers... BS4 and rerolling to wound vs MCs, that would've put the hurt on the Carnifexes for sure!
That was very entertaining to watch! Despite owning a few Guard and Ork models a few years ago, I never really got into playing 40k. Now I neither have the money nor the time (or the patience, maybe), so I enjoyed your video. All the models look stunning and the video has been edited very well. Keep up the good work!
Best battle report I've ever seen. Truly great work. This is the standard by which all other battle reports should be judged. I've watched the entire thing twice now and made a friend watch it with me the second time before we went on and watched other videos of yours. You can really be proud of what you've done here.
This is perfect, huge battles recorded through a high quality camera, with high quality miniatures and terrain, with great commentary walking us through
Such a good battle

Um. Do you mean millions? There's like a trillion+ Guardsmen in the galaxy.
To put it in perspective, battles take place over literal entire planets. These tabletop matches simulate a very tiny fraction of a gargantuan spanning battlefield of just thousands of armies clashing.
@@ThatDragonGuy Yeah, just multiply that table by thousands and you get the image
Then the blooded corpse of the flying tyranid fall to the ground with a splat and the army screeches as they see there fallen tyranid brother
the way the tyranids burst up into the lower level of the bunker was almost cinematic.
tyranids vs imperial guard is always great because it's the classic starship troopers scenario.

I have every DOW and play them everyday fanatically

If you want people to play with, you could just visit your nearest Games Workshop.
This is a late comment but if you go on GW website there is a store finder

Gotta say, I really love the presentation in this video. It's quite unlike a lot of battle report videos that just show the aftermath of turns, skipping a lot, etc. I also really like the little music montages, like the lictors in the dark with the creepy music. Very nicely done!

Best batreps on RUclips by a country mile, your armys are beautifully painted, no proxy units, awesome scenary. 10/10 Always look forward to more
thanks a lot:)
No probs! I know you have some Dark Eldar painted up, going to be having those in a Batrep anytime? What sort of style DE army do you enjoy playing?

As soon as I saw the custom table and terrain, I had already subscribed and added the video to a playlist so I could watch the rest later!

The guardsmans faces when the lictors and genestealers popped out of the shadows...

Awesome stuff! Both armies we're beautiful, both well played and kudos for making it a fantastic video to watch. Enthralled even thought it was almost 1.5 hours.
One of the most epic bat-reps out there, could even used a bigger table for such a scale!
thanks!:)
Very nice. This is what the game is about. Well done.
Holy giant-sized battle batman! Great report!
Most amazing report. with brilliant pictures and very atmospheric commentary, music and camera flights.
In face of this two brilliantly painted armies, and the great terrain I would love to see an Apocalypse game with Eldar...
thanks....we plan a new APOC game very soon...and your wish may come true;)
Amazing models, amazing terrain, great presentation. A battle report so immersive thanks to this oppressive music and epic situation. well done !
thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!:)
Best battle Report on RUclips. For me, Guard holding the line against a Tyranid invasion is "the" classic 40k scenario. Thanks.
Absolutely stunning game. That guard army is so inspiring, keep up the amazing battle reports!

If he does that, I'm not going to want to play anymore. lol.
Very entertaining video. It's strange no one complimented you for the great work done painting the miniatures, 'cause they are amazing,
Whenever playing Warhammer gets too meta or stale, and it feels like just going through the motions I always come back to this battle report for inspiration.
Big thank you, this was the video that got me into Warhammer.
Cool! Glad it was an inspiration:)
For the love of the emperor himself don't ever stop posting these batreps!
thanks very much:) I plan to keep the coming all being well! And judging by this response we plan another apoc game:)
This is exactly what I imagine a nice fluffy tyranid battle to be like :) Really exciting seeing so many nids on the board.
I mist say the use of that packaging material for that fort was well done
Absolutely gorgeous armies and table. Love the cinematic style you use for this batrep as well. I would love to see more of these!
thanks:)
wow that was a long watch, but worth watching all the way through, great pat rep as always, the models and terrain all look great.
Amazing Tyranid swam
Outstanding Battle Report and very well done with both armies being fully painted. The terrain was quite impressive as well, keep up the great reporting.
Thanks!:) Check out my other bar reps...some great games:)
Wow, an apocalypse batrep from the best batreper on RUclips. Great!
Man, you are making best bat reps on the internet! your skills with camera, narration, editing and so on are great. I much prefer spending 1.5h watching your rep than going to the movies :)
your board is off the chain! :) I have enormous pleasure watching you play.
as for game it was obviously great as well, I presume it was a friendly game since Tyranids taking consideration set up and objectives had no chance :)
thanks for the comments:D
Very well done, cinematic and hugely enjoyable. Many thanks!

I love how you made this in a cinematic way too having those "story" bits in the midle
Great vid guys, nice to see huge painted armies :-) makes the game so much better!
The armies and terrain in this game is just EPIC. And the scenario also seemed really fun, great inspiration guys!
Possibly my favorite battle report you've done. Brilliant!
Truly epic game and report! Beautiful armies and terrain and a very nice narrative. That´s the stuff that inspires us. Thanks!
These armies are beautifully painted, the terrain is impressive and this is a classic battle scenario. worth a watch just for that.
Keep up the great work!
thanks for the comments!:)
Everytime I see your Tyranids I'm blown away. They are so amazing. Great batrep, keep up the good works lads
thanks:)
This apoca barep was totally unexpected and a great view! Congrats on very nicely painted armies and a stylish video editing .
Bravo gentlemen. We've all been waiting in this one
These videos are really good quality and great, thank you for the upload. Finding good apoc reports is rare.
Thanks for posting this!
I think this one deserves a rematch!
Jay for James and the IG! Although i would've loved to see Pask on one of those Punishers... BS4 and rerolling to wound vs MCs, that would've put the hurt on the Carnifexes for sure!
HOLD THE LINE MEN!
CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was very entertaining to watch! Despite owning a few Guard and Ork models a few years ago, I never really got into playing 40k. Now I neither have the money nor the time (or the patience, maybe), so I enjoyed your video. All the models look stunning and the video has been edited very well. Keep up the good work!
thanks:) Check out my other battle reports...some great games:)
*****
You are welcome. I already subscribed and watched a few more of your battle reports and look forward to check out the rest of them. Cheers :)
That board and those models look amazing. This was an amazingly cinematic game, well done both of you!
thanks!:)
Best battle report I've ever seen. Truly great work. This is the standard by which all other battle reports should be judged. I've watched the entire thing twice now and made a friend watch it with me the second time before we went on and watched other videos of yours. You can really be proud of what you've done here.
thanks for the comments:)
That was spectacular! Great battle report, guys!
